The iPhone air should not be existing. It was a waste of time and resources. Hope they get rid of it next cycle
This is an interesting take here. I find the Pro and Pro Max phones to be heavy and uncomfortable for me to use but I’m not going to ever suggest they shouldn’t exist. The Air should exist for people who don’t want/need a big, bulky device but want a more premium phone over the standard model.

As far as cases, I would use the Air without a case unless I was traveling then I’d probably throw on the Apple clear case which would add very minimal bulk but still offer decent protection and hopefully more grip.

Bumper!

I'm looking forward to snapping on a bumper for the first time since ... could it be the iPhone 4? Indeed Apple seems to want me to use this bumper since they have thoughtfully designed one for every Air color, along with a matching crossbody strap. I am happy to let Apple boss me around this way, this year, after several rounds of Pros and PMs that I'm finding ever less exciting.

The point of the iPhone air to to have the thinnest and lightest iPhone possible. Adding a case defeats the whole point.

In for a penny, in for a pound, I say.

Given the new Ceramic Shield 2 is supposedly 3x more resistant to scratches, is it worth using a screen protector? I’m struggling to find one that offers anti glare.

Looking at the Apple accessories I think the only protection that’s worth it is the bumper, as it looks to add minimal bulk and ruining the thinness.

I plan to use it fully naked, I’m very careful with my devices.

This is the bumper.

I never use a case. I think it’s a shame not to feel the glass back and the metal frame. On top of that, a case makes an iPhone look less attractive. If you’re mindful when taking your phone out of your pocket and not careless, nothing is likely to happen anyway. Plus, I have insurance that covers screen damage both at home and outside, and I’d rather pay for that than use a case.

I’d absolutely be using the bumper that Apple is offering. I actually wish they would offer a bumper style case for the pro max. I’ve had to order one from AliExpress as I love that form factor for a case.

The Air is for those who dont need the best camera, best battery and they dont use a case and they are tired of bricks
If the battery is good enough, its for me
I dropped my phone three times in the last 6 years

I have to carry 2 phones so I am getting a belt clip case.

Past 3 iPhone models I have been using Encased but now I see a new one called Pelican - sort of chunky ??

The Air is designed to be used caseless IMO. The titanium frame with Ceramic Shield front and back, we’ve seen it been thrown about, dropped face down on the promo video etc. Glass is glass though lol

I’ll be rocking mine naked but with AppleCare+ incase the worst ever happens.
I agree. And most of the time my phones are naked. The only thing I put on it is a screen protector but that's more about me than Apple.

These cases are nice, but I feel part of the phone's beauty is in the bumpers, so I won't be using one. But glad to know it's available.

Plenty of other threads to pass your judgement on the Air (maybe let Apple know it was a waste of time & resources)

This thread is about cases or no cases for the Air, if you can’t read 👌🏻😀
Hear hear! So the anti mini/plus/and now air crowd is out in force, after years of whining "apple no longer innovates", "jobs took the best of apple with him" blah blah blah blah blah. Big sigh.

Mini Gang member here to represent. Ya'll better be using those Airs without cases. Imagine buying a thin phone just to make it thick again

I never use cases because they add weight, even a few extra ounces can make a difference. And I prefer to see/feel the beauty of an iphone which have never been those dull airplane wings that many droid makers have adopted. Even the worst iphone ever made managed to look better.
