how did u guys feel about the case after using it for a few weeks? did the ipad fall out of the case easily? is it convient to grip while surfing net with the ipad? i heard some bad review with the dodocase. please comment. http://vimeo.com/12573401

Have had my dodocase for about a month now and don't have any issues with the iPad being loose - still sits tightly in the case. I haven't really needed to take it out of the case so that's probably why.
But it's still going great - I take it around in my backpack and it's not damaged yet.

I like my Dodo Case

I got my case about 3 weeks ago and I really like it. I watched your vimeo link and clearly people have different needs and preferences. But what I didn't see the reviewer doing is using the strap to keep the front cover more securely tucked in the back - that is using the strap on the backside of the iPad rather than the front. I find that this makes the case sufficiently stable when typing in landscape mode. But YMMV, particularly given that there seems to be some variability in build quality from one Dodo Case to another.

I will however qualify my endorsement in a few ways
1. I never take the iPad out of the case. So the problem some people are having with loose grip in the case may just not be apparent yet on mine.
2. About 80% of my time with the iPad is with it on a stand (in the case). Btw I really like my stand - the Luxa2 H4 - in part because you can use it with the Dodo Case on.
3. I bought the case in the first place because of its understated good looks and book-like aesthetic, and to protect the screen. My priority is not to use it as prop for typing.

Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. I have no problems gripping the case when the front cover is folded behind (perhaps I have big hands...). It looks great, and I'm slightly and pleasantly surprised by its durability so far. It does not feel heavy to me, and I like how it feels in my hand when I carry it around with me.

Hope this helps.

hi do you guys know if i wish to cancel my dodocase order from them can it be done?

I want to echo what DaddyWhale said above. I just received my case today, and I like it a lot. It's a classy piece of work, it holds my iPad nice and tight, and I have no issues holding it. It doesn't add signficant weight of width to the iPad in my opinion, and right now, I have it set in my lap to type this post, and the angle is perfect for me.

I should also note after reading reports of people receiving damaged or defective cases, mine is flawless. There are no issues with the bamboo tray or the pads in the corners, and the cover is perfect. It really is a nice looking case.

Overall, I am more than happy with the DODOcase and recommend it to anyone who can stand the wait.

UK delivery

I ordered mine from the website... You pay $25 extra for UK delivery. However, the company said that it 'had left the nest' over 2 weeks ago and still no delivery. The tracker for USPS doesn't seem to work and Dodo have not replied to my emails asking for an update.

I am hoping that it is UK customs and the post office here that's holding up the delivery. I understand also that there may be further delivery and customs charges when it is finally delivered.

My Dodocase left San Francisco for the UK on 22nd June. Literally as I was typing the first sentence of this post the office bell rang and the postie dropped off the customs charge card for it. I'm off to the sorting office now to pay my £13.86 and get my case.

Yeah - mine left the 'nest' Tuesday 29th - 11 days ago today. I saw that other UK purchases took around 10 days - so heres hoping!

:)

Well it's here after a 17 day journey from San Francisco to the North West of England :) I'm back from the local sorting office with a smile on my face and another £13.86 out of my pocket bringing the cost to £66.55.

First impressions of the Dodocase are excellent. There's no sign of splitting in the bamboo and the cover looks great. The front was slightly bowed in without the iPad inside but I think that's down to transporting the case with the elastic in place. Once I put my iPad inside, the cover sits down just right. The four foam pads are all nicely stuck down and really secure the iPad well. There are small signs of hand finishing, the label isn't perfectly square, there is one spot where the bamboo is slightly pitted, but that's part of the charm.

After only a couple of minutes, I can't see myself taking the iPad out of it very much and that's saying something since I've been using it without a case for the last couple of weeks, protecting it with a Booq Boa Skin XS sleeve and a Music Skin for the back.

Anyone care for a gently used DODOcase? I used it for a few days and miss the weight and look of the Apple case. I'm stuck with it. :(

$45 shipped, anyone?

Is it a numbered 1st printing, or a 2nd printing? Also, is there any damage/chipping to the wooden internal frame, and/or do the corners still hold the iPad tightly in the case? I've read a few horror stories on the Dodo's not holding the iPad inside of it securely.

If you can take dated pcitures of it, I will buy it.

(that sounds crazy, but I want to make sure it is not damaged)

The iPad was snug when it was placed in the frame and just as hard when removing.

It's in excellent condition, 1st edition (card included), and without scuffs or dings.

To be safe, I'd say it was used for a week and only used indoors. I tested it in various positions and put it away. My only complaint is that the tabs on top of the frame were not glued correctly. This is a common complaint about these cases, and I don't know if that warrants an exchange.

FYI regarding the tabs

Hi!
Still liking my Dodocase. The iPad is quite snug. I have only removed/replaced a few times, however.

On mine, the adhesive used on the tabs allowed the edges to come up from the bamboo. [The edges on the facing sides of the corners, or facing up when flat.] I just used a small amount of adhesive to glue them back down. I used a small amount of polyurethane, but I would think a small amount of a clear acrylic or silicone caulk would do the same. If you use a small enough amount it does not show anywhere.

does anyone here constantly take the iPad in and out of the case?

I haven't yet since I put it in and it fits tight for me. But I just wonder how it will be if it keeps getting taken out and put back in.

I will check when I get mine.. I need to see if it's one of those cases I'd leave in all the time or only use when taking the iPad out of the house. In house, I usually leave it in the belkin grip vue.

Long trip to london

15 days since leaving the nest for the UK and in 3 days I'm flying to Aruba so fast looking like I'm going to miss it!

Will probably end up forking out for a case at the airport!

:(

Got my case and it has very good quality. Everything feels attached and solid. The foam corners hold the iPad during normal use but it would fall right out if I didn't have the cover closed with the elastic band when it is turned over. This works for me because I like being able to take the iPad out when reading on the couch yet have the protection when carrying it in my backpack or using it for notes at work. The camouflage can't be beat. Nobody realizes that it is an iPad sitting on my desk.
