Ayy, it's Gavin! Some of us have been gone for a while. I know I have.

My PowerPC list has grown some; although, I don't really go out of my way to collect anymore.

doesn’t want them around the house anymore (or at least his wife doesnt).......

Is that an echo I can hear coming from the other room........!

Gamer9430 has a formidable collection, and although I'll never match that, I'm very happy on how my collection is progressing. I don't intend to list them all, but hopefully will provide a group photo before the end of the week. Now where's my wide-angle lens....... ;)
In reality, 'Gamer' has a lot to answer for. His mention of the ThinkPad T61 some time back made me do some researching; not only found a good one but was then hooked on collecting some of the more sought-after IBM Thinkpads. I now have 8, including the awesome, very scarce 701c 'Butterfly'. And this past wekend I saw a local ad for a near-mint T61, which of course I had to go and see. Beautiful! And, icing-on-the-cake was that the owner - a Linux specialist- had just installed the latest Mint 18.2. And I'm loving it!

@Gamer9430 You should get your hands on a Mac Pro (although, your main is already better than the first editions of the Mac Pro). It's like having a PowerMac G5, yet it's infinitely better than THE PowerMac G5.

Switching from my daily-used PowerMac G5, to my 2006 Mac Pro (and then 2009 Mac Pro) was magnificent.

I’ll take you up on that suggestion...

But of course, you can't just have a T61 without getting the matching X61 light portable. That one comes with a reasonably light dock base which has room for another hard drive. I am quintuple booting on mine between various OSes.

Actually, you can get SATA, IDE and SATA to IDE adapters like this

IMG_1165.jpg

to slot into the optical drive bay for dual hard drives. Very like the expansion bays on the PowerBook G3 but a lot cheaper.

I ment the broken handle... and why not an external one (zip)? :(

Ah I see... Well, that is the depressing result of UPS treating packages horribly. I bought the machine from another forum member, and he did a good job packing it, but alas, it was not enough to handle the wrath of UPS. Some of it was prior to being in my hands, as it got damaged for him as well during shipping. Eventually I'll try using a rubber mallet and bending it back into place, but haven't gotten around to doing so.

And since there was an open IDE slot and the drive door gets stuck down, I figured what the hell, lemme toss in a ZIP drive just to make it look cool :p

Ahhh, I didn't see! Excuse me for that. Good, I hope you're enjoying it. Just got a Radeon RX 580 8GB for my own Mac Pro.

I'm here! I'll be honest I haven't even used any PPC machines since I left my PC job last month. Maybe I'll get back into it lol

TBH, I haven't used them in a while either - not since finding myself within the world of Mac Pros.

When was the last time anyone here saw a good-looking boxed G3 clamshell?
I've seen one, and if it wasn't for the fact that I already have a near-mint boxed Indigo with accessories, I would have snapped this other up immediately, as I wouldn't describe it as silly-money - like some that occasionally show on theBay.
The Hyde inside me keeps whispering, "Go for it, go for it, you know it makes sense", but my alter ego Jekyll whispers louder, "Don't you dare, or you'll be in the doghouse, or worse!" Disturbing times.........

Here is a link to all of my Dearly Departed machines. Most are PowerPC; a few are 68k and a couple are Intels (identical 2009 MBPs). Most of these pictures were for sale listings from the past 12 years or so. Some have been replaced. A few (like the Clamshells, the Cubes, and at least one Pismo) are quite missed...

http://atari.vg-network.com/macs

The first shot was taken at the Apple Store when the first Intel MBPs came out, and the Wallstreet was my walk-around machine. The sales guy got a kick out of that one :)

As an aside, while looking through the pictures, I found this:

osxbeta.png

Years ago, Cameron Kaiser asked me to grab some files for him from the OS X Beta (music player, cpu gauge, and some other things), as I had mentioned to him that I had installed it on my Bondi. As a goof, I took the screen grab above to see what the then-current OS X page looked like in the IE beta browser :)

Quite a collection of bygone Macs. I like the OS X themed Wallstreet(?) running OS9. I see your theming roots go right back ;)

Yep, that was my original Wallstreet that I paid $400 for back in 2001. That Kaleidoscope scheme was a Snow Leopard one that someone posted on the old Mac Themes site. I think I still have it somewhere...

The other Wallstreet was much faster, with a 300 MHz cpu, running Tiger via Xpostfacto. I did an article for Low End Mac on that one back in 2008. I also designed and programmed my first Dreamcast game on that one :)

I would need a very large house just to store all that lot. You could run your own computer museum :)

And I certainly won't even attempt to discredit Gamer9430's collection.
