I have a job and asked off for Friday.

I wasn't in line all day anyway. Got to Best Buy at 3 and left with my iPad at 5:30.

Serious question. How is it that everyone can stand in lines all day long?

Telecommuter here too. I work from home so worked extra hours earlier in the week and prepared my boss for the fact I'd be unavailable Friday afternoon (though I answered emails from line via iPhone 4). They make fun of me at my job for being this kind of geek, but I'm also the first person all the executives come to with their tech questions... so in the end, I think they LIKE that I do stuff like this. LOL

Not to mention, I NEVER take time off. I've worked while having the flu.

:D

Full time job.

But my apartment is a few blocks from one Apple Store, and my job is across the street from a different one. :)

Its going to be a while for me, I have no time during the week, and no time until late Saturday really.

Meaning, that supplies are going to have to catch up to demand before I can buy and that could be weeks, if not months, the way this is looking.

Just order online. At least then you'll have a date for delivery. :)

I was hoping to grab one by the weekend too, but I don't want to waste hours/days trying to track one down. With a ship date estimate of 4/19 though, I have plenty of time to hope a local store gets stock.

Some careers, like mine, aren't defied by hours a day you put in, rather quality of work accomplished (and deadlines). With that comes time management.

If I felt like I could stand in line on launch day and still feel comfortable that I could get done what I needed, I totally woulda been in line haha. Unfortunately I had a deadline Friday night.

Is canceling an online order pretty straight forward, then?

On Friday, I took off work at 2:30 to go get my iPad. With extra hours worked during the week, I didn't even have to take any time off to do so.

I just figured that all the people in line were government leeches waiting for their next handout while the rest of us work hard to give half of what we earn to the government so they can give to the leaches so they can stand in line all day to buy iPads.

It's the cirrrrrrrrrrcleeeee of liiiiiifeeeeee!!!!

P.S. Glad to know that not all those in line are leeches & some of them are just using vacation days!

I went after school and was in line for 2 hrs and when they started selling I was out by 6.

Ps I plan on getting a job at the apple store next year fingers are crossed

Puts me in a really weird position, I work for and get paid by THE MAN... then give money right back to him. :D

I just have a really flexible job that would allow me to wait in line all day on a Friday waiting for an iPad. I didn't do that, but I could have.
