Serious question. How is it that everyone can stand in lines all day long?

In my case i work from 9 to 5:30, apple store is three blocks from me, so i waited three days from 7 to 9 to get my ipad, first two days apple rep told us no ipad at 8:15, third day i struck gold and got my ipad by 9:15,i was 15 mins late but that was cool.

I'm a Uni student working part time in a local supermarket.

The iPad 2 launch this Friday just so happens to coincide with a rare booked holiday (pure coincidence :p) and pay-day. Hence, I can queue :D

Things are slow just right this second, but it's early, and it's "black tuesday"*

* a derogatory term for horrendous issues found on Microsoft Tuesday updates which are often worse than the problems they are trying to fix, but a multi-trillion dollar source of income for the high tech industry since the inception of patches for Microsoft software

I'm currently a Nursing Student at Millikin University. My spring break and vacation was last week (planned before iPad 2). I didn't stand in line, I purchased online when launched. I work pt. as a LPN at St. Marys Hospital in my town.

some people have cool jobs like my wife. limited hours, lots of telecommuting, and working from home. also helps she works near a mall and can go there at lunch. a lot of times she's home by 3 and just finishes her work via vpn

i took off most of last week without using PTO and just VPN'd the entire day

a lot of people have jobs that give them days off during the week. my building's doorman works his hours in 3-4 days and the rest of the time he's off. my wife's has been offered jobs where you work 12 hours a day for 4 days and get 3 days off. a lot of people work per diem and visit patients/clients all day and don't stay in an office

I think it's comical to read the leaps and bounds people will go through to get an iPad... It's the end all be all.. at least until iPad 3...

Some people find it fun, it's a hobby. But yeah, I don't know why the people that obviously don't enjoy it, subject themselves to it.
