I work in the film industry so no "schedule" per say, just depends if I'm working on a shoot or not, just so happens have most of this week free so I'm Apple Store hoppin'! Gotta find me an iPad 2. :)

Grad student, very flexible schedule. :p Though I did have to do some data collection earlier in the day Friday, so I was only in line for an hour.

I hope the data was what you expected. :)

The data collection went far better than the iPad collection, that's for sure! But since I chose the wrong place to wait (a Target that got in none of my model), it wouldn't have mattered if I'd been #1 in line at 8am.

I have job but also plenty of Autonomy. However, my time regardless is still very valuable to me. No way in hell, I'd wait in line for something just to have it a few days/weeks sooner. Wait a few days/weeks and have your 2-5hrs of life to live. To me it's like people paying above sticker for car. Crazy better use of my time than lines.

Yup.... Four plus weeks of vacation a year. Business needs keep me from taking a week off at a time so I sprinkle them in when it tickles my fancy. iPad 2 tickled it.....

I'm a night shift ER/Trauma nurse working 3 or 4 days a week. That gives me 3 or 4 days to have a life that doesn't involve saving lives while most folks are sleeping and doing their 9 - 5 thing.

I'm not sure how people here could afford all these apple products if they didn't have a job.

I work full time and go to school part time. I had a test on Saturday. So I took my books/study materials and sat down, studied and waited until 5pm. I ended up getting in some good study time as well as waiting for an iPad. I also aced my test on Saturday :)

I have a corporate job but I just left the office early on Friday and got to my local Apple store at 4:00 PM and was able to get one. Didn't leave the mall until until 8:00PM! :)

No one works 24 hours a day seven days a week. And some people are even allowed days off or shift changes. Imagine that.

What street corner are you working at? My corner is so dead, and I'm looking for an alternative location.

Why not just use your part time job to steal the first iPad you see? That leaves more money to spend on fortified wine!

question to all of you guys .. Is it really that serious to wait online for the product ? I dont get it..

It wasn't that serious. I was off work that day, in line some kind of line or other 2 hrs total, walked out with the model I wanted, and now I'm not having to stalk lines or wait for delivery. Instead, I'm enjoying my new iPad.

I forgot about this thread!

I haven't even checked back on this thread, I've been too busy working :)

Some interesting answers out there. Thanks.

I am unemployed but thankfully Obama has extended jobless benefits for so long, I was able to save up for a 16GB black iPad which just came in the mail.

This is a great country where others can help finance your toys.

It's called Paid Time Off.

...or a recession with people living off of retirement pension (not of their own choosing) or unemployment checks.

When I ask salespeople/managers if all the people at the mall equates into better sales, they pretty much say it's just people looking and sales are way down. We are in for a recession or slow recovery for quite some time.
