I made two separate reservations under two different Apple IDs for 32GB iPhone 4's. I called my Apple store today to ensure they had my reservation -- they DIDNT. I went into the store in person and talked to the manager, who went in the back to check my status. He came back and said that he could see my reservations, but that they had been cancelled. He said there was nothing that he could do about it, and advised me to call 1-800-MY-APPLE. I'm waiting to speak to a customer service rep as I type this. I'm so pissed

is your reservation still visible in the apple store app?

Just got off the phone w lyndhurst, Ohio apple store. They said my reservation is guaranteed for the first day.

B/c of a glitch in Apple's reservation system that caused many reservations to be canceled, reservations are no longer guaranteed. They do have a separate stock for reservation people but they will go on a first come, first serve basis.

Untrue. I just called Apple and my local Apple Store. They WILL hold one in stock for you for the 24th. After that it is no longer guaranteed.

Ok, I have seen a lot of misinformation is this thread, specifically a lot of people saying the reserve in store is not a guarantee and you better get to the store super early etc....

So being that this is a ongoing forum and recalling that their were reserves for last years 3GS orders I did a search and looked up wht happened last year.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/720946/

You can go hear and see at the end of the thread there were a couple of people who pouted their actual experience. One guy said he went in to the store at like 6PM after work and strolled out with his phone. This was despite him hearing earlier that they were "all sold out" of his model. Another user stated that their store held the reserves as well for customers till the end of the day.

With unexpected cancellations and everything, I'm still inclined to think that things won't go as planned this year... something tells me I should pick it up in the morning, albeit my name is in their system.

Same thing happened to me (with only 1 reservation). I'm also waiting to talk to a customer service rep. This sucks.....

When we reserved online. Did apple check to see our eligibility through AT&T? I do not want to get there and have any surprises. So, my email stating the price is all I should have to pay, right? Plus tax of coarse.

I reserved my iPhone 4 via the Apple Store App and received a confirmation email within the hour yesterday. Today I checked the App to make sure I still showed up under their reserve tab. It showed my reservation as active. I then just for kicks thought to check my Apple Stores web page at apple.com. The reservation actually does not show up there so I called the Apple Store to make sure everything was still set up for me to purchase my iPhone on the 24th. After giving my email address I was quickly reassured that everything was in place for me to do so. :)

really sorry to hear that, i'd try talking to a different manager at the store if there is one and see if they can at the very least set aside one from the next day's batch

I actually asked the manager if he could hold one for me, because of this situation, and he said that he couldn't. His justification was that he didn't know how many non-reserved iPhones he will have and that my best bet would be to come as early as possible. :(

I never got a confirming e-mail for my iPhone reservation because I used an Apple ID that is no longer linked to an active e-mail acct. So I called the store in question just now and the reservation is confirmed in their system.
:)I wouldn't necessarily even get one on opening day if my 3G battery wasn't completely shot. :apple:
