If you think it is too heavy now......take of the screen protector and the back shell and as if by magic.....it is now lighter......and looks a lot better!

Don't notice a difference at all. Sure, if you compare side by side, there might be a perceptible difference, but, in general use I can't tell it apart from the iPad 2 at all. Other than the stunning retina display, of course.

When I pulled my iPad out of the box the first thing I noticed was how it doesn't taper as much as the iPad 2. I'm not complaining at all though. The weight and thickness doesn't bother me. I keep my iPad in an otter box defender series and once it's in the case I notice no difference.

picked up a co-workers iPad 3 yesterday. i could definitely feel the weight. Now he has the leather smart cover...i have the cheaper smart cover on my iPad 2.

noticeable, sure. but guessing you'll get used to it. fine.

I definitely noticed it when I took it out of the box the first time. Nothing to cry about, but it is there.

Should have made this a poll.

As a first time ipad owner-I have nothing to compare to. I've been reading a few hours with it held in portrait mode with one hand and its been fine. I do move about on the sofa so sometimes its onthe sofa, on my lap, in the air etc
If this was the cost for the excellent battery life than I think it was worth it. This morning after a full charge - i used it to browse the internet and read a few pdf's. Around 1 hour and 15 minutes later the charge was at 99% which to me is pretty amazing as Im used to my ultrabook which would probably have drained to 60 or 70 with the wifi on and doing the same stuff.

I noticed the weight difference somewhat but it's not bad. I remember upgrading from iPad and thinking the iPad 2 was so much lighter it almost felt flimsy in your hands after the original, which was heavier.

Suggest more protein, P90X, stop drinking out of straws and lift that RedBull ... 1,2;1,2;1,2.

Are you serious? This is about noticing the difference between two different weights.

iPad is now the heaviest new tablet on the market. This is why people are not happy in relationships. It's recognizing flaws and accepting them, not deluding yourself into believing everything is perfect.

When I first got mine on Friday, I only felt the difference when one-handing them. When I picked the 2 up again after a couple days, it definitely felt lighter, but the 3 doesn't necessarily feel heavy, if that makes sense. I also second the opinion that the 3 feels a little more solid.

it's a little bit heavier, but not has heavy as the iPad 1.

I'm ok with the trade off. Same battery life, double the resolution, with quad-core GPU. that's amazing bro.

It definitely is noticeably heavier, I'm trying to decide if the screen is worth the extra weight, heat, and longer recharge times... I really think Apple went retina too soon, the hardware is just not good enough to keep up with it yet.

Yes - its a real problem for me.

You'd rather have your battery die in 5-6 hours than deal with 1mm extra thickness? There's absolutly zero functionality loss due to the marginally increased mass. The same cannot be said if it retained the iPad 2 battery packs. I some how doubt SJ would have went that route.

iPhone 4 was slimmer but not at all lighter than the 3G/3GS, so it didn't always work that way even with Jobs around.

You miss the point completely. Its not just 1mm and the 2 oz added weight.... ipads are too thick and too heavy.

All of them.

Every version.

Drop the battery life by 50% and slim the unit down. SJ would have been on board with that.

Who the heck needs 10 hours of battery life. Hopefully the 7 inch ipad will make my point when it becomes more popular than the present ipad. Reason: smaller, and lighter.

If SJ would be on board with that, then I for one am glad someone else is in charge who didn't make that move. Lighter would be nice, I have no issues whatsoever with it's thickness. I'll take the battery life.
