In a strange way, although the 3 is lighter than the 1, the 1 was more comfortable to hold as it didn't have the thin edge.

I had the 2 also, and this does feel a significant bump in weight.

I don't mind too much though, as having good battery life is more important to me than something lighter but constantly draining empty.

Things that weigh about 50g

It is somewhat bothersome but other than that love everything about it. It's probably my only complaint can definitely feel it heavier over iPad 2.

The weight difference between the iPad2 and the new iPad is about 50g.

Things that weigh about 50g
3 Blank CD
50 Paper Clips
20 Sheets of Paper
50 Cigaretts
10 Nickels
50 Zip Top Sandwich Bags

Here's my favorite

According to the Daily Star The Internet weighs about 50g.

Now is an extra 50g really that much "Bothersome"? ;)

Yep. It was 62 grams and is now back with Apple!

A little heavier, a little thicker, and from my perspective only a little better than my 2 so it was bye bye 3.

It's noticeable. But I think it will go away over time, because I won't be carrying around the iPad 2 anymore for comparison.

At first, a little bit, but I got used to it.

Besides, the minimally added weight/size is worthy tradeoff for maintaining 10 hour battery life.

Maybe people will give up smoking then! Yay!!!

I had both the iPad 1 and 2 (3G versions) from launch day, and used them daily. Now, with the new iPad, I'm not sure I would have even been able to notice a difference in weight and thickness from the iPad 2, if it hadn't been extensively reported. Basically, for all practical purposes, there is no functional difference in size or weight that I can tell in my (extensive) daily use of the device.

Also, for what it's worth, as a grad student with a long daily commute and nearly ubiquitous usage of my iPad during the day, I frequently use most of my battery on a daily basis. So I, for one, am very happy not to sacrifice any battery life for the (mostly psychological) relief of carrying less than 2 oz. of additional weight, and half a millimeter of thickness on my device.

It's BARELY noticeable. The only time I really notice it really is when I think about it. Since this iPad fits perfectly in my iPad 2 case it's hardly a big deal to me.

My ipad 2 feels sleek in comparison. The new one definitely feels chunkier and heavier.

Yeah, now you need a wheel barrel to carry it around! :roll eyes:

The new one is only a little better, but display kicks the crap out of the 2 and if you don't see than then I suggest an eye exam.

It's definitely noticeable. Even the thickness is noticeable. Just pick up an iPad 2 after holding an iPad 3 for an hour.

It's not enough to bother me, but some might not like it.

Yes, I noticed it right away and still notice it now.

Doesn't bother me much though, I kept the iPad 2 in the family and keep going back to it in another room and instantly feel the difference.

Yes.

Didn't notice it in the beginning. But after using it a whole afternoon, the added weight is very apparent compared to the iPad 2. On paper, the added weight seems like nothing, so I guess it has to do with the weight distribution making it more tiring to hold (I use it in portrait mode most of the time)?

Yes but only because I'm holding it much more than my iPad 2 ;-). Actually no, I don't see a difference.
