Apple is diversifying itself in to waaayyyy to many categories. They are good at them all, but not great at even 1. There hardware is not on par (XPS is killing it), and there software is lacking.

Kill the extra categories, 20 sizes and 20 colors, no rhyme or reason for display exclusions. Or in 10 years the big boy on the block, won't be apple.
As long as Apple's only bankrolling this and not involved in the production I doubt it takes up many Apple resources.

Apple should just buy HBO. Then they have great shows and an experienced staff running the joint. :) Looks like they intend to use the sex and violence angle witch is good by me. Show's we watch like Homeland, Ray Donovan, Game of Thrones... they aren't any different.

Rolling Stone: He [Dre] picked her up by her hair and "began slamming her head and the right side of her body repeatedly against a brick wall near the stairway" as his bodyguard held off the crowd with a gun. After Dre tried to throw her down the stairs and failed, he began kicking her in the ribs and hands. She escaped and ran into the women’s rest room. Dre followed her and "grabbed her from behind by the hair again and proceeded to punch her in the back of the head."

As Dr. Dre explained the incident: "People talk all this ****, but you know, somebody **** with me, I’m gonna **** with them. I just did it, you know. Ain’t nothing you can do now by talking about it. Besides, it ain’t no big thing—I just threw her through a door." Mr Cook knows how to pick them.

I abhor violence. His act against Dee Brown was reprehensible and he deserved to face punishment. I am no Dr. Dre apologist, however, I do not want to live in a world where a nearly 51-year-old cannot be forgiven for their actions that occurred half their life ago. He did apologize for the incident last year (although somewhat forced due to the pressure from the release of his album and associated movie.) Maybe I am a big sucker, but I am willing to believe that he is sincerely sorry for what happened.

So Apple is going to get into content - and THIS is their first offering? As an aside - have to laugh considering how protective they are of any apps that can display nudity or NSFW content - what was already shot for this
[doublepost=1455302984][/doublepost]
Orgy scene from a company that is known to be super-conservative with all apps involving any sexual content???

What's next, thicker iPhones?

Not thicker - ones with more girth

Wow! I've been a raving fan for the last three decades. At my business, due largely to my evangelism of Apple products all 100 people are using Macs. Now I'm really concerned my favorite company is losing it and am finally compelled to say something.

First, quality control is going downhill. What has happened to Apple Mail. The current version is full of bugs. Seems like everyone is going to gmail and dropping their mail client. Gmail is reliable and shows constant improvements and refinements. That's just one example. I could go on about other similar half baked products but those are not what caused me to make this post.

If Apple releases the kind of pathetic "entertainment" content suggested in this article, my unwavering support for Apple products will almost certainly begin to see an intentional end. Apple, you have a history of making products that improve the quality of people's lives. Why not make content that improves peoples lives. If you can't do that, get out of the media business. Just like Apple doesn't try to make cheap run of the mill products in an effort to improve market share, Apple shouldn't produce garbage content to grab a few more eyeballs for it's Apple TV. This whole thing smells of desperation. Tim Cook needs to get back to doing what makes Apple great and shut this thing down. Apple needs to make products that are empowering and improve peoples lives in new and innovative ways.

this won't get me to subscribe to Apple Music.
nor will it get me to subscribe to an Apple Video (or whatever it might be called)

now, perhaps this is just a Music Video or something for Dr. Dre alone and no real connection with Apple.
who knows. This wouldn't be the first or last PING, CUBE, etc.

@Rogifan

Well I can see the discussion going like this "Ok team - we can do our own Steve Jobs bio pic - or we can do this 30 minute series with Dre. Which one do you guys wanna do?"

My faith in Apple, in Tim and in Jony, has been strong since that fateful day in 2011 when Steve passed. Sure there's been missteps, questionable calls and products. Still, I've believed that "Steve's DNA is built into the company."

Until today. Apple is spreading itself way too thin. Jumping into categories with no competitive advantage, simply for parity.

This is no longer Steve's Apple. Not at all.

I saw the movie straight out of compton the other night. Not sure how this series would be any different than rehashing what was in that movie. Having said that, I was impressed in the movie by Dre's role. I had no idea he had produced and help launch so many artist. It certainly came off that he and the lyrical ability of Ice Cube were the real power behind NWA.
