My faith in Apple, in Tim and in Jony, has been strong since that fateful day in 2011 when Steve passed. Sure there's been missteps, questionable calls and products. Still, I've believed that "Steve's DNA is built into the company."

Until today. Apple is spreading itself way too thin. Jumping into categories with no competitive advantage, simply for parity.

This is no longer Steve's Apple. Not at all.
I still don't see what benefit Apple got for buying Beats. They never talk about the headphones (and based on earnings call commentary it would appear that Beats sales are declining). There's no way Apple needed Jimmy Iovine to stand up a streaming music service. And Apple Music as it exists is kind of a turd (Jim Dalrymple still complains about it). I just think it was a waste of $3B.

My fear is because there are all these nervous nellies out there freaking out about Apple's stock decline thinking Apple needs to do whatever it can to make Wall Street not think of it as a "hardware company" that Apple execs will feel pressured into doing things like this to show Wall Street they're a "services company" now. But if Apple is serious about getting into original programming then I think Cook should hire someone to take iCloud, maps and Siri off Eddy's plate and just have him oversee Apple's content businesses. Apple needs someone more competent running its cloud services anyway.

Apple appears to be in the horrible place where all the key internal players credit themselves with past success and, as a consequence, they stop filtering their own thoughts. They've lost it. Alas, this is the typical place to be and only SJ ever got better over time. Apple just continue to show us how special SJ was.

The only thing I saw Dre act in was in Training Day. He didn't seem to be a very good actor. If that's the case, it doesn't bode well for this show.

You people sound really old and conservative and irrelevant.

The only thing that matters as to how this works out in the end is how good of a show it will be. If it's amazing, then it could be a great business launch. If it sucks, then no.

Note that I don't know if this is going to be any good or not, as I'm not familiar with the talent of production team here. We'll just have to wait and see.

I do wish Apple would get into the ISP business, though, as current ISPs seem to limit Apple's hardware capabilities.

Wow! I've been a raving fan for the last three decades. At my business, due largely to my evangelism of Apple products all 100 people are using Macs. Now I'm really concerned my favorite company is losing it and am finally compelled to say something.

You are not the only one to feel this way. But, be careful. I posted similar comments on a different thread about the recent decline of Apple, like quality, customer service and other stuff, and many replies were not very nice. Although I had a few people agree.

I have loved Apple's products since the mid 90's, and used to recommend them to anyone that would listen. But lately, it seems like Apple is becoming the next MS. I hope not.

Maybe for their next series Apple can just cut the dark story crap and just do some straight up porn.

It'll be fun when instead of talking about how thin their new products are, they talk about how thin their new performers are.

Although seriously, the majority of premium shows these days target a mature audience.

And it really does have to be on the level of state-of-the-art Hollywood films, instead of Lifetime network levels. It has to be novel and push the artistic edge.

Nobody wants to see ver commercialized crap. They really have to bring something new.

Wow - just wow. And I don't mean that in a good way... Apple is losing the plot. Couldn't they just focus on, oh, I don't know, getting hardware and software to "just work"? That would be cool. Because, in my experience, things haven't "just worked" for a long time....
