While I agree, it's unreasonable to compare Jobs and Dre... it's a big reach... but, there are few people as successful as Dr. Dre in so many different arenas. Producer, Label Exec (Founder of Death Row Records), Rapper, Celebrity figure and now founder in a multi-billion dollar exit of hardware and software business. So, for those of you dishin' on him, i'd think about what it is you have done lately.

I'm not saying hitting a woman is okay, I'm just setting up the context.

Look at the Stanford students who physically abused their classmates in the Stanford Prison experiment.

Psychology and sociological roles are interesting, huh?

Actually I already know of it and that is a different issue which deals with hierarchy. There are plenty of men who make it from rags to riches without beating women i'd even say the majority of those men are smart enough to respect women.

You know what else is notorious for breaking after a couple months? iPhones. Drop it a few feet JUST SO and boom! More like diePhone, amiright? …Guys?

Seriously, though, I’ve heard from dozens of Beats owners that the build quality is quite nice and they’re very reliable. My own limited experience with them would indicate the same. So a few people had one that broke after a few months and are very vocal about it? Well, the same goes for iPhones. People always tell me that iPhones break really easily, despite my several iPhones not having even been scratched. There’s far too much of your statement that relies on personal use case, and since that’s different for each person… well, that kinda renders any arguments that rely on it invalid.

My iPhone has not broke. By your logic, that makes your argument invalid?

Perfectionist? Is that why my Wireless Beats headband snapped when I was taking them off when they were only a couple months old? Is that why my Beats Executives had the left speaker stop working from light use within a couple of months of purchase? Is that why the headband on my wired beats came loose within a year of purchase?

Overpriced crap.

So why in the hell did you buy three pairs?

Go dig into jobs history!
You will find a lot of cruel and uncivilized behavior as well!

comparing Dr Dre to Steve Jobs... what a sad day for the press...

journalists are no longer capable of decent thinking and writing... :(

So then would you agree than Beats are just $400+ jewelry if the consumer doesn't take the time to enjoy the music?

That’s hardly fair. The type of music I would enjoy on a set of Beats is much easier to hear on the bus than the symphony I’d be listening to on a pair of Sennheisers.

That being said, people pay $400+ for cosmetic stuff that isn’t terribly high quality all the freaking time. This is part of our culture. I don’t do it personally, but I don’t see how this trend is so surprising to you.

You're 100% correct. I could see that by page 2 of this thread.

It's a shame. It took me a while to work up the stomach to pay $400 for a pair of headphones. It blows my mind that some people buy $400+ headphones that sound so horrible. I'd love to share some of my rigs with them  You can get some greate stuff at that price point.

I doubt very many people buy the $400+ beats. Most people are rocking the ~$180 versions.

That's a solid point.

On the contrary, Jobs knew little about electronics, and Wozniak says Jobs never programmed a single line of code in his life.

Nope. He didn't know how to do those things. That's why he hired others who did.

Steve Jobs did none of that. He couldn't. He didn't have the knowledge to do so.

Steve Wozniak did the Breakout update (and Jobs cheated him by lying about the payment amount), and the Apple I and II.

Jobs was a programmer before Wozniak was. Jobs started programming at 12 years old at HP's corporate office. Look it up.

Jobs designed the Mac Calculator in 10 minutes. Look up Andy Hertzfelds article on it.

He didn't design hardware layout with a pencil, paper, and CAD. But he told the engineers how to do the layout, which is design.

His greatest design accomplishments is in product design. It was his idea to use Intel chips, floating point basic, mouses for navigation (His engineers told him they couldn't replicate PARCs mouse for >$1,000's per device. He insisted). There are countless documented accounts of Jobs brilliant product design work. Look it up.

And finally, his architectural design work was outstanding. The Apple Store, the glass staircase, etc. Look it up.

You didn’t read my post did you? I said specifically that my personal use case does not support the idea that iPhones are fragile. I’ve never had one even scratched.

My point was that by relying on personal use case examples, you are invalidating your argument. But I’m glad you agree with that concept. Now stop it.

Please enlighten me what this Dre dude has a doctorate in?

He has a doctorate from living in the ghetto and making it out, now is almost a billionaire, so call him all the names and belittle him all you want. But in your lifetime you will never amount to anything he has done

According to his Biography, he only designed the physical appearance of the Calculator, the programmer who created it was so fed up with being rejected, he designed a calculator where Steve would be able to change it's appearance in every way with just the mouse. He sat Steve down in front of his computer until it looked how he wanted it o.

What do you mean "He only designed the physical appearance of the calculator?"

Thats what design is! lmao come on humanity, come on.

journalists are no longer capable of decent thinking and writing... :(

The only sad thing here is how delusional and blind people are when it comes to recognizing who and What Jobs really was!
He was no prophet !
He had his share of great things and disasters!

And yet...

One might have thought a perfectionist would actually make some decent headphones; the quality of which likens to a potato on a string but costs close to a iPad Mini.

Jobs popularized several now significant segments of the technology market.

Dre sold overpriced Monster headphones to the masses.

Not really much of a comparison.

No. Just no.

I really can't think of a better response.

I mean, to compare one of the great technology minds of the era with Dr. Dre? I am not a huge Steve Jobs fan, but I respect his business and technology practice, and this comparison is unacceptable.

Why?
Why can’t you compare the two?
