I'm one of those people that didn't stream it. Apple has nothing available for streaming that I like and I imagine there are a lot of people like me whom Apple has failed to reach and market too.

Wow. 30+ million songs and there's literally nothing available to stream? And your tastes are so eclectic you think there's a lot of people in the same position?

Reminds me of Bieber (I don't like his music either). He can sing, he's young and good looking and has boatloads of money. And to add insult to injury he's apparently got a huge dick. I can see why a lot of insecure men would hate him.
Yep, I don't like Bieber either. So I don't listen to his music and that's that. Pretty simple.
Apparently only if you're in a certain age bracket.
What age bracket are you in? And which is the one you need to be in to know one of the biggest selling musicians of 2016?

That's 15 million paying customers so it doesn't include the millions on the free trial. You also aren't accounting for individual track streams. He's had four huge hit singles off of the album

1,000,000,000 streams / 15,000,000 Apple music subscribers = an average of 67 streams per user over the course of 149 days since the release of Views. Yeah, right...

Not surprised by this. I was never the biggest Drizzy fan however, I thought Views was a fantastic album. Dude is talented. Give him his props. Him, Kanye, and Beyoncé killed it this year. Three talented individuals (even tho Kanye does kinda annoy me at times)

I listened to the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Guess Who, The Doors, America, etcetc and teens nowadays get this.
Can't help but feel bad for them.
On a good note, Drake seems like a nice guy

Drake is a talented dude. I was never the biggest fan but I won't deny his talent. I don't know why older people act like music talent stopped 25-40yrs ago. There's still some amazing talent going today. IMO, Beyoncé is true talent. The woman's voice is amazing. Adele, Sia, Kanye, Lady Gaga, etc all amazingly talented individuals.

I remember when Lady Gaga did the National Anthem at the Super Bowl, many older people were like "omg she can actually sing?" And I'm like....if you would've taken the time to give her a fair chance, instead of prejudging her b/c she's not from your generation...you would've known how well she could sing. Easily one of the best vocals going today

Other than xm at the moment Garth has resisted these services. Yes Wilkow is the only reason I keep Sirius Xm service so yes why not.

The poster I replied to said there's "nothing available". Which is a pretty ridiculous statement unless they:

- only listen to the very small number of artists not available to stream (like Garth Brooks)
- listen to a very odd selection of music such that none of them has ever put their music up for streaming

Either scenario is odd. Even more ridiculous to claim there are a lot of people in the same position.

Doesn't Tim Cook remind you of this kid?

They do dance the same

Not only can Timmy not dance, he can't run a company either! Maybe he can if you count running it into the ground!

That is fine and all. You asked the other person what they liked that Apple Music doesn't have. I chimed in with 2 specific things. A specific artist who I listen to all the time, and a talk show I listen to quite often.

I don't disagree with you that Apple Music has something for nearly everyone.

Cook dances like a drunken old uncle at a wedding , truly ....

*CRINGE*

Tim: Hey guys how do I get to be cool like Steve was , I'm not really into all this music stuff ?

Eddie : Just wave your arms around and TRY and look interested in anything but the $$$

Tim : Like this ( see gif ) WOOHOO !! THIS IS GREAT !!! I'M SOOO YEAH WOOHOO !!

Also, I know some people have been streaming tracks without actually listening. A few weeks ago some artist was asking for their fans to do millions of streams of one track. Several fans responded by streaming on loop with headphones plugged in overnight, but not actually having the headphones in. Thus you can rack up around 15 streams per hour while you sleep (assuming the average sound is 4 minutes long).
This is also what I think could help artists a little bit, with a marginal expense of power and Internet fee.
Notice how the most popular comment was deleted.
What comment? Mind telling me a bit? :)

But the commenters here told me no one cares about Drake.

I don't know who to believe!

There's a very specific type of "person" in these threads "the overwhelming majority" that think no one cares about Drake.

I do. Bought the album day one, still play it. Fantastic music.

Just add me. There is little to no music I love in Apple Music catalogue. Amazon has more.

This is silly...
They pretty much helped him with the production of the music / videos, etc. and he was a spokesperson when Apple Music was announced. His music and album was plastered in every playlist, chart, recommendation, radio and cramped into any possible corner of Apple Music...
Unfair & meaningless statistic IMO.

Well to be fair... I never listened to his stuff on Apple music. So I contributed to nothing of his milestone.

As controversial as this may sound I have to say that Apple Music is the second most user unfriendly piece of software Apple has releassed (following iTunes). Clumsy and complicated unlike Apple's other apps. I trialed it and hated it. Trialed Spotify and loved it and still do. Forget exclusives, just simplify the app.

Well the rest of the world has, congrats.

Just asked around the office... seriously nobody (including the youngsters) said yes.

Guess we're just all out of touch with pop music trends in the USA. No big loss.

You raise a really valid discussion point that goes back to the early days of iTunes.

1. 'Music' for iOS looks more like an Android app now!! It's really ugly and awkward. Seriously, how did we get here? The original iPod was so simple and elegant!!! Just go back to that UI.
2. iTunes (for macOS) was a little funny even from version 1.0. They chose to go with a combined player + playlist window. At the time I was using Macast Lite, and was really unhappy with this decision. Just as I got used to using it with my iPod (some years later) they added the iTunes store (which I initially liked). Since then they've continues to clutter it with rubbish that gets in my way and annoys me. I REALLY want a simpler iTunes that's more like iTunes ~3.0.
3. Why does Apple HAVE to stream music and push Apple Music into what (for me) is my 'MP3 player' app? Spotify and the like exist for this purpose. Kids on reddit will tell me 'there has been a paradigm shift, we ALL stream music from the cloud now... keeping a local playlist is stupid'. Yeah well I don't stream music because most of my music is pretty abstract/underground so it's not really on any streaming sites. It's annoying the my 'MP3 player' app (I LOVED my iPod) has become a streaming app.

You don't know Apple very well, do you?

It takes more than just an app to compete these days and Apple knows it. Exclusives. Better rates. Since Apple has chosen to compete in the music streaming business, there is no reason for Apple to do anything less than go all out to suck all the money out of the industry and dominate the market.

Maybe Apple will succeed and maybe Apple will fail, but in the very least, Apple has shown that they are not afraid to spend their way to victory, and Apple has the war chest to stick around for the long term, unlike Spotify which is still haemorrhage losses even as we speak.
