Pure, unadulterated greed.
I spent less money getting a full set of premium brand tyres, delivered, fitted and balanced for less than this for a Honda Accord.

That's who Apple is now. They were always a bit on the greedy side. Now it's off the charts.

It's ironic that you include the car example.

If Apple did make a car? This 'Pro' example shows you they'd charge you extra for the wheels.

That *used* to be a joke.

Azrael.

I would think Apple will sell even more of these then they planned now that all the savants aren't spending big bucks on WeWork.

A Rolls Royce hood ornament (which they call “The Spirit of Ecstasy”) costs upwards of $2000, and it does nothing, including not bothering Rolls owners who buy it.

Nobody buys a Rolls to hide it under a desk or stand their computer display on it (...well, somebody might buy one to store as an investment, but that's a long shot even with luxury cars and certainly doesn't apply to computers...)

Rolls, Bugatti etc. aren't just expensive cars, they're cars bought by people who think that regular luxury cars are too cheap for them. They're made by companies like BMW and VW who also make a complete range of cars for people who might want a serious car, for a serious purpose, and are prepared to spend serious money but aren't NFL footballers, pop stars or Apple execs who want to pay ridiculous money to enhance their p... er, prestige.

The real problem with the Mac Pro isn't the Mac Pro (which at least evolves from 'laughably over-priced' to merely expensive the more you expand it), it's the big hole it leaves in Apple's range where the ~$3000-$10,000 headless desktop options (for people who don't need 1.5TB RAM and 8 PCIe x8 slots) used to be (the new Mac Pro doesn't even start to make sense until you spend well over $10k on giving it better specs than an iMac).

The Stand and the Wheels are not the reason people are complaining about the Mac Pro, they're just symbols of Apple's ridiculous greed and pretentiousness. They're not even well designed - just expensively over-engineered.

If Apple want to make a 24ct gold-plated ceramic "MacBook Pro Edition" for the super-rich, that's fine by me - but sort out the basic models first for the people who actually want to use them rather than stuff them down teh front of their pants.

Wow. Those Feet cost an arm and a leg... but don't worry, Apple products hold their value so you'll be able to sell your Feet on eBay for at least $250...

Waiting for the $500 Apple Wedge to jam under the Wheels so that they don't roll away...

thats clearly for a Mac Accessory maker!! iChocks - so your $700 wheels don’t roll away. That’s gotta be at least $100. And a iChock Chainz to keep them from getting misplaced or stolen. Probably $50-$75.

Then next year Apple will add built-in stoppers and make the macWheels $850. Then we’ll all be upset because Apple is taking business away from another accessory maker unfairly!!

You really think Apple didn’t consider the reaction among the commoners when they were determining the price of the wheels or the stand? We’re not the people whose opinions they could possibly care less about. We’ll buy our iPhones and AirPods and MacBooks. I’m so amused about people being outraged about the price of something that’s not in a class of something they’d ever buy. It amounts to being upset on behalf of someone else.

Agree. Seeing so many get frothed up so easily is a hoot. And the power Apple wields over so many is quite astonishing.

Since the iPhone 6 bending drama, his channel has become big. But since then, the success has gone to to his head.
All his overacting has become really annoying and I unsubscribed from his channel. He really should look at his old videos and versus the current one to see what he has become. Sure it looks more professional now but also extremely annoying. Also, I am fed up to see why he switched from phone A to phone B and back to A and again...you get the point. He once was invited to Oppo/OnePlus factories and since then, he has become their biggest fan. Well played by that company.

Wouldn't it be funny if everyone in the world would order a set of wheels from Apple and send it back right away?

I don't believe the beauty of returning items for no reason is available outside of the Unites States of America. Some places they sell items with no guarantees, your on own if its defective.

I love this video, I've watched it twice.

I don't really mind $700 for wheels, but personally I'm happy with the standard Mac Pro feet.

More than the price, I probably wouldn't be a buyer for those wheels because they don't lock.

Fun video!

From the look of the wheels, it shouldn't be hard to adapt standard office chair casters to do the job. Office chair casters are used to carrying far more weight so they should be more than adequate.

You just wait.

Apple must meet shareholder expectations.

Shareholders (and Wall Street) need growth.

Apple makes a PILE of money.

Showing growth year after year for bigger and bigger piles of money will require lots of Thinking Differently, and not the type of Thinking Differently that pragmatic customers like me prioritize (i.e., function over form). Think about it -- what has bigger, undeserved mark-ups: 50+ inch LED televisions, or Burberry scarves? Useful, optimized tech, or optional fashion?

Paying more for artsy computer wheels than for auto tires may be just the tip of the iceberg of jaw-dropping offerings from ole' Tim and Apple. Just hold on to your horses (and your lunch)...

The only people complaining are those who do not need or have no interest in buying them

90% of the “people” who buy the Mac Pro are corporations, and corporations spend money on all kinds of crap. So...why not?

I'm not a corporation and I have an older Mac Pro and eventually will get one of these. I'll just wait a couple years until a design studio in California gets rid of one dirt cheap for less than half price and it'll be tricked out like my current Mac Pro was doing Toy Story movie animation.

$700 is simply a preposterous price as well as the retail price of the new Mac Pro itself and it should be ridiculed.

Apple has become its own joke. Back in the day, a PowerMac was actually worth the $3000 it originally cost, but this monster is not worth that much. I don't expect Apple to turn into a bargain company, but there was a time when there was a huge upside to buying a Mac over a PC. No more. Tim Cook wouldn't even have the nerve to do a "bake-off" like Steve Jobs used to do. And if Apple switches to A-series chips, he won't have the nerve to do it either because I don't believe the tech is that good anymore.
