Goodbye, at least you , leonPro, you got your G5 before the 100th tread, now we die without ours ;)

Don't worry klaus. I, and I'm sure the rest here who received their G5s, feel for you guys. That's why we're still here to keep you guys company (of course we're typing in our new machines...okay, enough of those jokes) and to ensure every one of us who participated in this thread will finally be appeased. Don't forget I did receive my unit, but I have yet to fix my Airport cable...

Hi klaus,

How's the weather in Belgium? Is it late there?

Trying to make small talk to forget about my unborn G5...

23" Aluminum Display

Btw, I noticed a lot have received their Alu display. For those who are able to view thru it already, there is an ongoing discussion regarding the displays having pink or magenta color. There seems to be a lot and I wonder if I should invest in one or just wait for it to be recognized by Apple and then sorted out.

Any lag issues with the stock 9600XT card?

HI Rocketfella,

No, on the contrary, it's early in the morning (9:36) and I'm at work, while all my friends have a day off from work (I get to choose my day )

The weather is well.. ****ty (don't know if this word is allowed in here) it's raining, and we had a storm the other night. I guess the summer is already over, I'm glad I had a lot of sun during my leave, at the end of july.

How is it over there, it must be very late in the night? (or early)

I guess there maybe some issues, but for every person who posts his issue, there are 100 or 1000 times more who have no issue, my display is still at the reseller, with my name on it, so I can't tell if mine has it or not, it better not, since I'm selling my dual 19" crts when my powermac comes in.

Yes, almost 1 am here U.S. west coast.

You're lucky though with your weather. Very boring here...it's always warm and sunny. No seasons.

Well, the woman awaits in bed and I should join her...

You should! :D now come on people, post some shipping confirmations, otherwise people will be bashing us for using this thread as a chatroom

Into the final 5 days for alot of us... so while we wait for our shipping confirmation in the next couple of weeks, what will you be doing with your brand new 2.5?

I'll be working on a new CGI short (lightwave, shake) and doing the odd bit of video work (FCPHD) in between so I can afford a new alu display!

Have a good day klaus. Maybe you'll get your tracking # today.
(ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz) :)

Thx, but even if it comes today, I won't get a tracking #, since I ordered through reseller, and it's only a half an hour drive! cu in the morning ;)

Yeah, there are people who had problems with their 23" display. but I have tested it on my powerbook (because the G5 is not her yet) and it is one hell of a display! Really. no dead or stuck pixels, no reddisch tint (maybe those people should check the colorprofile) an overall equal lightdistribution, for me, just perfect.

I even did a nice test! my dad owns a photostore with a seperate pro and amateur lab for developing pictures. We have high demand coloraccuracy. There we have a couple of Lacie CRT monitors with a blue-eye calibrator. Although it is not possible to do a hardware calibration on an LCD, I was (as a surprise because it's an apple display) able to perform a softwarecalibration of my display! and the result is just magnificent! the contrast and brightness is just awesome and the colors also! So for my part, the displays are just perfect!

As for my G5 however... now it's sheduled for septemer 6th

Can anybody bring some light on this, what exactly is "Shipping Method -
Fast Ship (EMEA)"?

My G5 was sent from Cork Ireland on the 10th of august according to the "shipment status" page. It's now in Sollentuna (Stockholm/Sweden).

7 days, and it hasn't arrived to my address yet.
I'm not moaning about when I'm getting my G5, it'll arrive sooner or later.

What I'm curious about is the money Apple (or rather we in the end) pay for so called fast shipment.

What's your experience with TNT in Europe?

Ge4-ce, did you order those bumper stickers separatly, cause I've read somewhere that there come a few of them with a new mac? Or did I misread?

I have found TNT Express to be garbage.

I've ordered 2 things from the Apple Store that have been shipped by TNT.

The first package (iLife 04) took a 3 weeks ( It turned out they had delivered the packaget to the sales office on new housing estate where I live , but didn't leave a notice of where it had been delivered , I had to eventually track it through apple). The second package took a week and a half and was eventually delivered on a Sunday Evening by a "specialist" driver who delivers to tricky addresses.

My G5 has jsut shipped with TNT , so I should recieve it by Christmas !

I had 2 positive experiences with TNT, they both delivered very fast, and reliable, so I have nothing to complain about..

Get this .. Just spoke to Apple about my shipment. According to TNT tracking my order is on it's way to Venray in the Netherlands where it will be packaged together with me Apple Care warrenty before finally being sent out.

Instead of shipping the two as separate packages they are shipping them together !.

The worst thing about this is the G5 has actually been in England already. It was at the TNT hub in Northampton Thursday of last week ! So far it's very well travelled!

Cork -> Northampton -> Arnhem -> Eindhoven (as of last night) -> Venray (next stop ) where it get's packaged together with Apple Care probably to do the reverse back to Northampton before coming to Greenhithe !

Surely it would have been easier just to post the Applecare separately !
