If you could figure out how to turn on the frames per second so they would be displayed somewhere on the screen, then tell us around what you are getting, that would be a good way to benchmark some of the games. I know in RTCW this is the command to show the fps: type this into the console which you bring up by pressing `(the key above tab) and then type this: "cg_drawfps 1" without the "" then hit return. A number should be displayed in the top right hand corner of the screen and it will change depending on what's happening in the game.DarylF2 said:Command & Conquer: Generals
With my old Dual 1.0 GHz "MDD" G4 (1.5GM RAM, Radeon 9000 Pro) I had to play at 1024x768 with the lowest quality settings, and even then it was jumpy at times and NEVER perfectly smooth. With my new Dual 2.5GHz G5 (2.0GB RAM, Radeon 9800XT), I can play at 1600x1200 with the highest quality settings, and its only jump occasionally on HUGE third-party maps in the late game (when there are tons of units moving around). It is buttery smooth 99% of the time!
Unreal Tournament 2004
With my old G4 I had to play at 800x600 with the lowest quality settings, and even then it was pretty slow and jerky a LOT. With my new G5, I can play at 1600x1200 with the highest quality settings for ALL options, and its been perfectly smooth on every map I've played so far (maybe 3-4, since I don't play FPS games a lot).
Older games (like Neverwinter Nights and Quake III) were usually fine on the G4, but still usually needed to be run with at least a few settings turned down. Now, as expected, I can run them at 1600x1200 with all settings maxed and there is never any sort of slowdown.
I'm going to install Return to Castle Wolfenstein tonight, but I expect even better results than UT2004 since RtCW must have much lower system requirements.
If anyone tells me how to benchmark these games, I'll try and do so in the next day or so.
My new cinema display 23 had the pink color problem when it arrived - but you only have to calibrate the colors in the monitor preferences and then it's fine - you may not use the standard color profile for the cinema displays.LeonPro said:there is an ongoing discussion regarding the displays having pink or magenta color.

Here's a clip from their website. Perhaps that one is delayed to free up production for the G5s?

klaus said:Hmm, sounds like he's trying to build a case to sue apple or something, for not shipping orders according to order date. I bet you can cancel an order or change it if you have the order number right? In that case, anybody would be kind of stupid to give that out.. and not even considering if it's a scam or not.
Don't think it's a scam though, cause I saw a lot of his posts here, and never came across suspicous to me

For those with their orders shipping from California, Apple ships their orders from the warehouse between 3 and 5 P.M. PST.
joco said:Can someone please help me. I am about to uncover this problem with Apple. I have been working closely with Apple and I am in need of order numbers of people that have ordered their MAC after 6/30 and have received them. This is because in order to track the orders and find out the details I need to know other order numbers.
If you can help please email me privately at jocojr@hotmail.com
Thanks so much.

No, that's 6 and 8PM EST. California is three hours BEHIND us, not three hours ahead.aidamahn said:that's 12 and 2pm est![]()

Rocketfella said:I just have a comment here. The shipping in order of order rec'd must be a customer service issue and is done as a courtesy to customers as it would be the most fair way of dealing with the shortages.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's awful if it's not being done that way 100%. But I'm not sure that anyone/Apple will be held 'accountable' to a customer courtesy.
It may be that Apple IS doing this 100% to their ability, i.e. we all can see that there are clearly problems with their order database.

invaLPsion said:For AAO and UT2K4, open up the console and type "stat fps." Your FPS will then be displayed in the upper right of the screen.
joco said:Actually according to Apple this is NOT done as a courtesy. They state that THEY are filling orders in the order they received and according to their records NO ONE has received orders out of order. And that they would be every interested in finding out who received them out of order.
