I heard all machines from Cork had to pass the hub in Venray, it's some kind of central depot, and from there they are being shipped to their destination. Kinda odd, but it's for a reason I guess..

Good thing about it, is that it's not far from Belgium, so resellers won't have to wait long for their orders.. ;)

A lot of shipments starting in Europe, maybe that'll mean shipments for the US starting today. Hopefully from California so i will recieve by the end of the wek before i leave for school.

Ge4-ce, did you order those bumper stickers separatly, cause I've read somewhere that there come a few of them with a new mac? Or did I misread?

No, I did not order them seperatly :) They come with a new mac.. and my car needs a new one. the other one did not last very long..

My reseller is now estimating 6th September now as ETA for new G5's. This is from the website and I assume that they have just added another 3 weeks because they still have no idea when they are going to arrive.

My G5 Arrives Today!

FedEx tracking indicates my G5 is on the truck (FedEx) for delivery today!

For those keeping track, I ordered a stock dual 2.5 with 1GB total RAM from the online apple store, and it shipped from California.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to get my hands on it until around 9pm tonight when I get home from work and put the kids to sleep but I will post pics and quick review tonight. :D

Good luck to all and here's to hoping that yours is on its way this week!

Bet yours ships next week. Being ordered in June and moved to September 20th means Apple has moved manufacturing site to expedite build. That's exactly what happened to me and mine will be delivered Monday, after shipping August 11th. My ship date was originally 7/30, then 8/20 and finally 9/21 or before ship date. Good Luck!

I hope you are right. But I also want people who ordered before me to get theirs first.

... well i do not expect my dual 2.5 g5 with 6800 in august, even not september, though around 1st week in october.
hmmm ... just happy, i got a cheap dual 1.25 g4 to keep my work goin'

My machine was supposed to be shipped today. Called Apple and they are now saying the 20th. It's getting tiresome.

Expect some updates on the site in the next few hours.

http://powermacs.plasticated.com

only 4 more days to know the truth! A LOT of people have the 20th as supposed shipping date, and they cannot possibly ship all of them at the same day, so they must be starting by now, no? We need more info from fedex insiders who have a nice view from their office, overlooking the warehouse or dock with lots and lots of black G5 dual 2.5 boxes :D

Some Dual 2.5 GHz Gaming Info

Command & Conquer: Generals

With my old Dual 1.0 GHz "MDD" G4 (1.5GM RAM, Radeon 9000 Pro) I had to play at 1024x768 with the lowest quality settings, and even then it was jumpy at times and NEVER perfectly smooth. With my new Dual 2.5GHz G5 (2.0GB RAM, Radeon 9800XT), I can play at 1600x1200 with the highest quality settings, and its only jump occasionally on HUGE third-party maps in the late game (when there are tons of units moving around). It is buttery smooth 99% of the time!

Unreal Tournament 2004

With my old G4 I had to play at 800x600 with the lowest quality settings, and even then it was pretty slow and jerky a LOT. With my new G5, I can play at 1600x1200 with the highest quality settings for ALL options, and its been perfectly smooth on every map I've played so far (maybe 3-4, since I don't play FPS games a lot).

Older games (like Neverwinter Nights and Quake III) were usually fine on the G4, but still usually needed to be run with at least a few settings turned down. Now, as expected, I can run them at 1600x1200 with all settings maxed and there is never any sort of slowdown.

I'm going to install Return to Castle Wolfenstein tonight, but I expect even better results than UT2004 since RtCW must have much lower system requirements.

If anyone tells me how to benchmark these games, I'll try and do so in the next day or so.

Impressive! It will be interesting to see how it preforms on the 6800 Ultra as well.

Great news! I've got URT2004 and SimCity4 sitting in a box at home because they won't run on my old iMac, I can't wait to take them for a spin on the new 2.5. I wonder if my 9600xt will be able to keep up with your 9800xt. Hopefully I will still be able to get decent frame rates.

BTW, do you notice any of the text scrolling problems that others have reported with the 9600xt on you 9800xt?

I know what you mean. I'm going from a 16mb ATI card to a 6800 ultra. I haven't been able to play sophisticated games in years.

Cork -> Northampton -> Arnhem -> Eindhoven (as of last night) -> Venray (next stop ) where it get's packaged together with Apple Care probably to do the reverse back to Northampton before coming to Greenhithe !

Surely it would have been easier just to post the Applecare separately !

Seems to me that Apple could improve it's margins if it just thought about it's packing and shipping issues a bit more!

My god, that's EXCESSIVE shipping. That has to cost them a large amount of cash.

I'd be very interested to know how Doom3 and Knights of the Old Republic work on your machine. KoTOR should be out very very soon and it requires a 1GHz G4!

Can someone please help me. I am about to uncover this problem with Apple. I have been working closely with Apple and I am in need of order numbers of people that have ordered their MAC after 6/30 and have received them. This is because in order to track the orders and find out the details I need to know other order numbers.

If you can help please email me privately at jocojr@hotmail.com

Thanks so much.

Joe

Sounds like a scam if i've ever heard one.

Edit: Ok, maybe its not a scam... but can you give us a bit more info?

Yea me too. It's ridiculous, I can't play halo or anything new. Right now in RTCW in normal action I will usually get around 20 fps but if something graphically intense happens my frames will drop to under 10 and be virtually unplayable. It's like a slideshow. That's all gonna change on 9/03 hopefully (or slightly later).

Hmm, sounds like he's trying to build a case to sue apple or something, for not shipping orders according to order date. I bet you can cancel an order or change it if you have the order number right? In that case, anybody would be kind of stupid to give that out.. and not even considering if it's a scam or not.

Don't think it's a scam though, cause I saw a lot of his posts here, and never came across suspicous to me

Any word on whether the 6800s will be delayed?

Here's a clip from their website. Perhaps that one is delayed to free up production for the G5s?
