Well, Klaus, actually, I went there by myself, remember, and the lady I talked to, was the Marketing manager of Apple Benelux. She did not talked about online orders. She only discussed reseller orders with me, since that was my case (and yours). She said that there would be a new shipment, and then it would take another couple of days to get them to Techdata, or other distributors, wich on their part should send them to resellers.

September 1st or 2nd, arrival in Belgium, and add a couple of days + the weekend and we are at september 8th, the date I currently have on my schedule..

Just wait and see I guess

Edit: And GODDAMNATIONPUSSYCATFLUXCAPASITORSTROKEGIVINGBULLOCKS! I just missed the 3500th post again with 1 post!! Just like I missed the 3000th with 1 post..

Yeah..this is such a moment where I'd want to live in the states for a change.. You have to admit it's frustrating to hear people from the netherlands receive their shipment notification when they ordered mid july. Off course, those poor people can't do anything about it, but Apple can.

I bet that lady on the phone doesn't know a lot, since their must be some shipments to the benelux already, otherwise people who ordered online couldn't of gotten theirs already. So they definity ARE shipping in the benelux, just not to resellers who placed orders the first days..

They just seem to be shipping them out in random order ;)

true, but we've been waiting for so long already :D

at least my lacie hd arrived this morning, so there's some metal-looking equipment on my desk ;);)

Hello. This is my first post here even though I've been reading post here for a while :)

I was wondering if anyone in Norway or Sweden has recieved their dual 2.5?

I've checked with a couple of resellers, and they say they'll get a shipment in september. One reseller in sweden says 8 days for the 2.0 & 2.5, and 21 days for the 1.8.

cheers

And some other questions:

invaLPsion - Won't the MacSkinz side panel allow dust to be sucked right into the G5, as there is not a seal between the panel and the G5 except for 4 suction cups? What about electromagnetic interference protection that the normal case provides? Just some thoughts...

The website must be mistaken as the panel they sent me is held in by two screw-looking devices. It appears to create a complete seal. The panel is made of Lucite which will limit interference.

still no reply from apple on my mail disputing their claim that orders are being shipped by orderdate
taking them rather long to come up with an answer ;)

Cool. You'll have to take some pictures.

Originally, I was thinking of driving out to the King of Prussia Apple Store to find a G5dp2.5 but then I remembered that I already have my 23" Cinema display and ordered Applecare, both of which have already been delivered. As I am understanding it, Applecare will only cover both G5 and display if purchased on the same order.

Now here's the interesting question...I've had my display and Applecare since July 28...when does AppleCare coverage start?

Well, it's arrived!

However, without the screens I also ordered, I can't actually plug it in and power it up.

However, going on looks alone, its a beauty! :)

I have a set of photos, which will launch the new photo part of the http://powermacs.plasticated.com site, but here are a few teasers.

I shall remain on this messageboard until everybody gets their machines. Good luck to you all.

I believe it starts as soon as you register your machine and displays using the provided software.

Congrats! You should go to a computer store and buy a monitor just to use til yours gets there. Then just return the new one! I don't know how long you'll be able to live with it just sitting in your house dormant...

6800's shipped from UK?

I just developed a mild case of cauliflower ear waiting for an available representative to talk to. I mentioned all the slip dates for the 6800 card that have been posted here and he said they've already shipped SOME from the UK, but it's a question of when the order was placed as to what order the units go out in. Anyway, he gave me some hope that I may get mine by 3 September after all.

Here's a curiousity: A lot of people on the chart at http://powermacs.plasticated.com have order dates prior to 28 June, which is when the 6800 card was announced in conjunction with the new HD Cinema Displays.

How can that be? Were their orders updated after the fact?

Yep. I didn't do it myself, but a number of people changed there orders when the 6800 was announced.

Well folks it finally arrived at 9:45 am this morning. I am running the HW test as we speak.

It's shipped!

Although my est. shipping date was 08/27, I just got a shipping notification from Apple.

Actually, it's a partial shipping. The status of my alu 23" is still open. Strange... I was under the impression that availability of the alu displays was better than that of the 2.5s.

I know what that means... A dual G5 2.5 Ghz driving my old 17" CRT/1024x768@75 Hz for a few days.

blutfink, same thing happened to me. I am expecting I will hear about another shipment containing my two 23" displays and my applecare. Annoying, because I dont have a screen to plug into the G5.

congrats! But I do find it odd that you and gecko both have troubles getting your 23" display.

Normally, they are available in 3-5 days, could it be they are checking their quality control hasn't screwed up (referring to the pink situation, and some displays showing uneven color brightness)? And they are holding off new deliveries until they get green ligth?

I just heard that they have legal issues with the company that makes the LCD displays.. And they will no longer produce them until the issue is solved...

That can take a while!

 ;)

glad I have mine.. wanna see some pics of this gorgeous display you'll have to wait for???

he he he....

;)

some 6800 info

*
It is not Apple's fault for the G5 units with Nvida as that is Nvida issue and not indicative of Apple/iBM chip issue.

i had called Nvidia on the 17th and spoke to a person in the PR department to see if i could get any info on when the card would be released. i was told that they do not manufacture the card....they only design the architectural blueprints which are sent out to 17 different companies who make the components and assemble the unit. guess who makes the chip for the card?.....IBM. the PR person said IBM was jamming up the production because they couldn't deliver the chips. when i got a call on the 18th from the austin apple store that they received 2 units, i didn't think twice about grabbing one of them (more details on post #2814).

my 2.5 experience so far:
ran hardware test out of the box and after i installed 2 gigs of corsair twinX CL2 ram, software updates and additional software installation....passed both times. machine runs great BUT i do have the scrolling distortion/fan revs (i don't think i would have noticed but i read threads on the problem at the apple discussion forum only to find them on my machine)...they do not stop production of machine but just knowing it's there bothers me. anyone with a 9600XT card should check it out. i would bet it's a driver issue...

other than that, the machine is fantastic. heavy, hot, and fast...
i'm glad i got the unit when i did cause i knew my order would be pushed back (ordered 7.7.04 - "on or before 8.31.04"). the funny thing is, i keep coming back to this thread to see how everyone else is doing. it's like a soap opera... i hope you all get your machines quick.

here's a pic of my 2.5's new home

Do you have any sources for that info I could look at?

Another delay on me actually getting a working system I can start to produce some paying work on! :(
