Cancom memory crapped out!
Hi, I don't remember the original poster, but there was a link to cancom.co.uk for cheap SDRAM (PC3200) 1GB modules for £67 each. Well, I ordered four, and all day long the order process page said 'order being scrutinised'.
I just received a phone call from them informing that they are out of stock and do not anticipate being able to get any more - EVER.

Yes, I got this as well. I think their web ordering system is terrible! I guess i shall have to go for Crucial memory. It was too good to be true!

I would appreciate reading a link to the news story. I thought the legal issue would be related to the pink problem, but re-reading your post I guess it was simply a legal problem on the usual business deals. If that's the case, that would be sad to hear.
Btw, who manufactures the LCD alu display? LG? Samsung?
This wait is killing me! I know this is the wrong place to talk about it, but my G5 gets here tomorrow and today is HORRIBLE! It's DRAGGING ALONG! I feel sorry for you guys still waiting, I really wish everyones had shipped. When mine delayed again I was actually preparing myself for a late September arrival but now that it's imminent, the wait is worse! Now I keep thinking, what if the FedEx guy doesn't deliver tomorrow and I have to wait to Wednesday? What if it's damaged? What if something's wrong with it and I have to wait longer?? what if what if what if!

Hm....well they offered 3% off the G5...which is $107.25. So I took it. Was calm and grateful the whole time.

Hmmm.... I called up this weekend and they only gave me $75 off plus free overnight shipping. I had read that other people had been getting $100 off plus expedited shipping, but they insisted this was the best they could do. Perhaps it's because I had selected "free" shipping when I ordered?
I'm hoping that it actually ships before next Monday (8/30), so I can have this weekend to install all my software, extra memory and hard drive so I can hit the ground running next week!!!

Double Your Apple Warranty
I've read lots of reports in this thread about getting AppleCare. Just a reminder to a lot of you that you automatically double your standard 1-year warranty just by purchasing your computer with American Express. (I'm sure other credit cards do the same). That gives you a 2-year warranty for "free". That's good enough for me. Just make sure you save your receipt!

The key is to make them _offer_ it; I had been trying to get something to happen that should have worked if not for corporate BS, and after talking to many people and determining that there was no way to do it he offered the $$ and then after I also asked for free priority overnight shipping... Which he gave me as well.

Upgraded Shipping
Why must so many people request free overnight shipping and discounts? When my order got delayed, my shipping was upgraded to overnight without a word from Apple. Apple should give everyone free overnight shipping. With it, you then almost know for sure when your computer is coming, and then you know what day(s) to call in sick to work!

I heard someone who ordered on 7/20 got a shipping confirmation email? I ordered on 7/21 and it says on or before 9/1, I thought for sure mine will be delayed since most of the 8/20 orders were pushed back to the end of the month.. But, I'm sure I won't be seeing any shipping email any time soon any ways.
