Sweet! Finally yours ships! It's kind of funny, I just checked my email (no shipping notice so far) but with yours shipping it almost feels like it was mine. Who knows, maybe we will both get ours tommorrow!

I purchased an APC Back-Ups LS 700, it has an auto backup and shutdown feature for the Mac. It uses USB. Not sure if it has enough power for the G5 or not. They also have a trade in program on there products. They pay for the return shipping.

Does anyone know how the Belkin compares?

I would be interested in hearing how the LS 700 works with a G5. I've got an LS 500 at work and tried using it with the G5...didn't work. Choked it. The power supply made this horrible clicking sound and sounded like it was dying when the power would go out and my G5 was running on it. I also noticed that the fans in the G5 slowed down considerably when it was running off the battery..it just couldn't handle it.

I don't think so. This is how it has been for everyone. It takes a few hours for the package to get into the Fed Ex system and for the card to be charged. OURS ARE ON THEIR MERRY WAY!!!! WOO!

I think that your attitude is why MacRumors is such a great place. Mac fans are very passionate about Apple. So it lends to a community spirit.

Well people like Solo-Act and many others who mentioned me in their posts helped me get through the never ending period of waiting.

I got an email stating about getting the 9600XT card and my G5 on Sept. 3 and getting the standalone 6800 Ultra on 9/13 today. Yeah, finally I don't feel out of the loop (as much)...

Question. For those who got this email already, how long did it take before your order status reflected the new shipping date of 9/3?

My order status still says 9/27.

AHHHHH! I found out that my local Apple Store has several 2.5G in stock...but I would be paying $600+ more as compared to Mac Connection (tax and 1GB Ram). Can't decide.... It would really be messed up if I did pick it up at the Apple Store while finding out MC starts shipping this week.

Mine still says "On or before 8/20" *twitch*

But I called today, they said that everything is fine, and they will be updated soon. I just don't understand why Apple updates the order status pages manually...

Edit: After just checking back now, the "Action Required" flag is gone, but it still says 8/20 for the CPU and 9/30 for the GPU (6800DDL).

It all depends on how soon you want to get your G5. You might want to be sure that Mac Connection won't charge you sales tax. They started charging it here in Massachusetts about a year ago. You could purchase your memory from Crucial, it is highly recommended here on the forum.

I ordered a dual 2.5 for work on 07/19 and had ESD of 8/30. I just recieved an email that it has shipped. WHAT A GREAT FEW DAYS. My personal machine shipped on Friday.

OH MY GOD! My stepdad just got a dual 2.0 with a ATI 9600 (rev A). He let me fool around with it and it is sooooo smooth! Battlefield 1942 was as smooth as butter! I can only imagine what my dual 2.5 with the 6800 will be like! I am starting to have a hard time waiting though....losing sanity.....need to hold on.....just a little longer....

Hi Everyone...mainly a lurker and not registered until today. Thanks for all the info that I have read over the months. I am on hold with Apple right now cancelling my PowerMac since they arent shipping it for two weeks and I found that my local store has them in stock! They are going to ship me the new video card when available at the same rate I had it at when I bought the 2.5! That was nice of them...this has been an insane fiasco and by the end of today I will be workin on a new PowerMac...just need to go to Fry's to get the extra Hard Drive since the Apple store doesnt Sell internal HD's...anyways...Mine was supposed to ship on 8/31 and I ordered in the 2nd week of June! Not only that but my CC was stolen and I tried to switch payment to a wire transfer with Apple but since they shipped my display...they can only charge another CC which is the other reason I am cancelling the order. If I was to cancel and reorder they said shipping would be in 6-8 weeks....Why should I bother waiting when I can go get one today at the store and even get my EDU discount...well Im just gona be happy as hell to get this thing finally after all these months of waiting and looking at this 23" display and drooling!

Hmmm.... I called up this weekend and they only gave me $75 off plus free overnight shipping. I had read that other people had been getting $100 off plus expedited shipping, but they insisted this was the best they could do. Perhaps it's because I had selected "free" shipping when I ordered?

I'm hoping that it actually ships before next Monday (8/30), so I can have this weekend to install all my software, extra memory and hard drive so I can hit the ground running next week!!!

I asked about upgrading my shipping to next day and the guy told me that the 2 to 3 days shipping is the fastest because they are being assembled out of country...hm.

Welcome to MacRumors very happy to have you as a member. It is quite nice of Apple to allow you to have the NIVDA 6800 for an additional $450. I'm sure if you are aware or not but the G5 and the Display new to be on the order slip so that AppleCare will also cover the display. You might want to discuss that issue with Apple. I would also recommend extending the coverage to 3 years.

Thank you for the welcome. I have just spoken with both Apple and the supervisor at the store and they are going to do what they have to to make the warranty cover both the display and new PowerMac...OK...time to go to the bank and go pick this toy up!

I was told by Apple that this was _impossible_ in every meaning of the word, how did you get them to remove the G5 from your web order, allow you to buy one at a retail store, and then get the card for the discounted price?

It all depends on how soon you want to get your G5. You might want to be sure that Mac Connection won't charge you sales tax. They started charging it here in Massachusetts about a year ago. You could purchase your memory from Crucial, it is highly recommended here on the forum.

I ordered my computer and monitor and other thiings from MacConnection - they still do not charge sales tax, and I got 100 extra free gb ram.

...You might be able to drive to Haddock (apple store in disguise) on N. May in OKC and get a stock unit right now? I spotted you were in Norman.

That's where I got mine(2.5). I took half the inventory... as they had two!

i don't know if anyone is keeping track exactly or what, but i have my dual 2.5 g5 now. it was a bto with extra hd and ram. brilliant. the coolest computer i've ever owned by a long shot. so chalk up one more happy guy with a new g5.
