Well Apple finally decided to contact me about my G5. I ordered on 6/9 @ 10:30am Pacific time. I upgraded to the 6800 the day after they were announced. I did not receive a delay notification after the first delay (which was on 8/2 and was pushed to 9/3), but late today I received this:

Dear Apple Developer,

Your satisfaction is important to us and we’d like to get your order to you as quickly as possible. *In order to do so, we will configure and ship your G5 with an ATI Radeon 9600 XT w/128MB SDRAM card by September 17th so that you can begin to enjoy your new PowerMac. *Additionally, we will send an NVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL Graphics Card Stand-Alone Kit by September 24th. *There will be no additional cost to you.

Goddamnit. So now the 9/3 date is no longer good?! I have an ADC order although I have not received a second email about the 6800 delays. My order still says cpu on 9/3 and 6800 card on 9/17.

Well this is unwelcome news. I guess I am going to have to call and try to get some compensation for the delay...maybe some money off and free overnight shipping. How much will that 9600 sell for on ebay? I guess a few more weeks isn't that far away. *sighs*

Any news about 30" displays?

I've had a shipment date of 08/31 for my 30" display ever since I ordered on 07/19. I've already received notice that my G5 is delayed until 09/13. Since I selected "ship items separately" I'm wondering if the shipment date will hold. At one point today the order status for the display changed to 10/25, but now it's back to 08/31. No e-mails or shipment notices, however. When I talked to an Apple rep last night and today they indicated it should be shipping today. Anyone else heard anything about when the 30" displays will ship?

Bad.....Good....?

Alright...this is stupid....so my shipping date of 8/30 gets delayed to 9/07.

I get mad. Call Apple. They say it's on the line being made, and should ship in 1-3 days.

That's no good... I'm at college, and was supposed to have it brought to me this weekend.

So I call back, and get free 2-day express shipping...well, it's better at least.

So if it DOES ship in the next day or two, i can still get it...otherwise, i'm screwed.

Thank you, Apple.

P.S. I ordered a standard gfx card, with 1 gig ram, 250 gb, bluetooth, and FCE preinstalled. Order date: 7/16.

Apple's new email...

Howdy folks!

I also received the new email from Apple saying that my Sep 3rd ship date was to be pushed back to Sep 17th. I'm getting tired of these emails. I got one on the 20th of Aug saying that my Aug 31st ship date would be missed and that my G5 would ship by the 3rd of September. This is driving me nuts! I placed my order on June 19th! I guess I'll be calling Apple tomorrow to try figure out what's going on. When I spoke with a representitive today, he said that my G5 was being built and would ship by the 3rd. Oh well, here's to a good nights sleep.

Clarification...

Those of you who are getting 6800 emails offering the 9600XT on or before the 17th and the 6800 on or before the 24th, have you already gotten an email for it, and when did you order?

Yeah, I got an email around 8:00 EST today. I placed my order on 7/21 and had an estimated 9/03 ship date.

I've received the ADC email once. I ordered on 7/1. There has been no activity on my bank account. I suspect I will get a second ADC email soon. The 6800 standalone and G5 w/ 6800 items on Apples website show "Late October".

This is really getting f*cking old and there is nothing I can do about it. They need to stop guestimating dates and just f*cking tell it like it is. I doubt this computer will ship before October 15th.

Ah, ok i wanted to make sure you guys hadn't already been delayed before; I was delayed on 7/29 and 8/18, getting an email like yours on 8/19 but with the dates 9/3 for the 9600 and 9/17 for the 6800

This is an ADC/6800 order. He is getting an ADC email twice. He ordered early as well. This leads me to believe ALL ADC/6800 orders will be delayed until 9/17...9/24

In fact, any 6800 order looks delayed. I do not believe the 9/17 either. This is going into October. Maybe I can use the G5 as a Samhain gift for myself.

So you didn't jump in your car?...

I dunno, I tend to believe the 9/17 date...it's the 9/24 6800 date that I'm doubtful of.

Of course, at this point I'm just HOPING that I get something in September.

it's on it's way

History so far. Ordered from uk reseller 11 june. Got sick of missed deliverys (apples fault) cancelled order and reordered from Applestore UK. That was on the 18th Aug 04, and at 1:30am this morning received a shipment order (2 weeks) dead!! (if you don't count the months) .Tracking number doesn't work! I am waiting for the bubble to burst and find it was all a wet dream. So excited I'm 2 hrs early for work as I cannot sleep. It's like being 7 again. If I get an email saying it was a mistake I'll be suicidal.
Please be on the way... please...

Congrats donald, but damn, that's fast processing of your order. Only 2 weeks time??? Guess I should cancel my order with my reseller and order online ey :)

I told apple my sad story but I don't know if it made a difference. Apple guy did say that they fill their applestore orders first (which I think is highly unfair). Visited my reseller last weekend and he says he doesn't expect to see any G5's till October. Sorry if you've waited longer, I think from now on, I'll be ordering new release macs from the Apple Store.

Donald, don't feel sorry man, you can't do anything about it. I guess I could order from the AppleStore as well, and cancel my reseller order, but I don't think Apple Belgium has had any g5's yet as well, I know the resellers didn't have any, and I haven't read a single report on a g5 delivery through applestore belgium. oh well, the longer the wait, the less time I spend 'waiting' on it. It'll come, eventually, less fuss, less misery, less pain :) (it's only a computer fgs :p)

The guys who got two, were given a 9600xt instead of their nvidia, so they'll be selling those, but I guess you have that one as well, and want to replace it with a 9800. You may consider the 9800 se, that's available as a standalone for mac

Motherboard problems ?!?

I ordered my 2x2.5 PMac at a local retailer (cancom) here in Germany on June 16th. They told me that they did not receive ANY computer from Apple since June (!) They have a lot of problems since they are completely out of stock and their clients are in rage.

Since Apple told them to receive new machines on friday and nothing happened they got the information from Apple, that they have problems with the processors (as we unfortunately all know) but as well - and this was new to me - problems with the motherboards in conjunction with the Mac-Enclosure.

They did not get any more specific but the only possibilities I can assume are:

A) Apple is lying to them (since they were very interested to hear that one of my buddies received - as well as a few of us - a shipping notice from the Apple store here in Europe)

B) The motherboards do not fit (but why are any machines shipped?)

C) They have kind of shortcircuit-problems by production-failures. Ah, by the way Europeans G5s are assembled in Cork/Ireland (I do not know if this has been posted before...)

At last they told me to expect Apple to awake from its lethargy since the quarterly results are to be published in a few days. (hope dies at last...)

But I personally fear that my poor 800 MHz Powerbook will have to stretch its hurting muscles until late autumn if this sad story continues like that....

Hmm, yes, the quantities are limited, but last friday I was at my reseller (Belgium), and there was a g5 on a trolley, to be picked up by a customer, it was a new dual 2.0, so there are deliveries.

As for as the motherboard goes, that's something I never heard before, they are the same mobo's as in the states, and they don't have any problems, so it may have to do with production of them, not with the mobo itself.

I don't think so, the last conference call hasn't been 3 months ago, hasn't it?
