I have been waiting FOREVER!!!
Congratulations to those of you who have recieved your computers already. I originally placed my order on May 22 for a Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5. I then upgraded to a Dual 2.5GHz computer and received conformation of my upgrade on June 10. I have spoken to so many Apple representatives (sales people and supervisors) that I feel dizzy - and really disappointed. I really enjoy Apple's products, and would never switch to the "dark side", but this is the worst customer service I've ever received!

My ship date has been changed ca. 5 times (can't remember the exact number). My new ship date is "on or before 9/7". I have an ancient 9600, so I am obviously dying to get my hands on this new computer, but also because I bought lots of new software thinking (stupidly) that Apple couldn't possibly go more than two months over the original ship date. Man - was I wrong!!!
So, here's what I want to know:
Do their ship dates mean anything?
Do they really ship orders "in the order received," or do they ship to Apple stores, academic stores and "prefered customers" or VIP's first?
Do the web order numbers indicate any sort of shipping order? For instance, if mine starts with 828, does that mean anything?
Do custom outfitted computers slow down your order?
Is there any one component that I could ask them to remove that would get my order to me?
For having waited this long, is there anything in particular I should ask for as compensation for all of the work I've lost, delayed jobs, etc.?
I would be so grateful for any helpful comments. I am so jealous of all of you who have received your computers already!
