Update: OMG YEAH FOR FREE PRIORITY OVERNIGHT IT WAS ALREADY PICKED UP AND WILL BE HERE TOMORROW MORNING!!!!!! OMFG.

Well, despite all the smoke blown up my a$$ by Apple customer service on Friday, I got bumped. Oct. 15 is the new date, missing my birthday by a week.
I suppose I can wait...not like I have any other choice. But damn! I need a new machine! Way too many projects in the works that are going to be put off because of this.

I also recieved an email from apple about 2 hours ago. but mine just stated a push back for the card kit, and didn't mention the g5 having a change. so hopfully it will stick to the 9/14 date, but for some reason i'm not feeling very optimistic about it. ordered 7/7 from apple online edu.
 
Yeah, though my g5 is on its way, the card was still delayed until oct 15th

by then maybe theyll be giving us X800 XT DDL's, or better yet: FireGL's
 
6800 delayed to Oct15th

This my first machine ordered from Apple. Will be my first mac if I ever get it.
I ordered on June the 10th and am still waiting to receive.

Several delays with no offer of compensation or even an email to mention the delay half the time.
Upgrade to geforce 6800U the day it was announced.
Accepted agreement to send 6800 and mac seperately Sept 3rd and 6800 on the 17th. The 17th is approaching with no signs from Apple.

Last week my order status for the powermac disappeared off the page and is no longer available. Called Apple 5 times, going to be a 6th tomorrow.

This type of avtivity is very unbecoming of a computer company with "top level customer satisfaction". In fact, since I ordered it, I've been very unsatisfied. I'm about ready to cancel the order. For keeping me in the dark, Apple doesn't deserve my money.

Just wasn't meant to be. 😕

There we go, it says 10/15. Lovely. Looks like the machine has been delayed again too. Apple doesn't seem to stick with their word for anything so far. The woman on the phone said sept 17th when i called yesterday. You really have to baby these orders in order to get anywhere with it. So unlike other OEM's. Thanks for the info Jon.
 
G5 Order faster then baby factory

True about post poining a delivery.... babies almost ALWAYS honor the "on or before date" 😛 and if not - some good manager would personally go get your order from the factory and hand deliver it to you... - but sometime it is really hard to just find someone to "take your order"... guess it depends on age and education of your sales staff.... but let me tell you shopping "that store" and looking for the person to drop off 'the order' with has been really a lot of fun.... work work work... but hey when you shop with your wife... it is a lot of fun!

Happily married and working hard to place my iBaby order and to expand my iLife.... 😱

Bump for 6800

Just got the bump for my 6800.

I was really hoping Apple would meet their ship date so I could be done with this whole "PowerMac w/ 6800" fiasco...

6800 pushed back here as well

I just got an email from Apple as well pushing back my 6800 to 10/15. They split my order and I got my G5 on 9/9/04. I was actually kinda hoping the 6800 would get pushed back. I'm going to call Apple tommrow and complain (I have to contact them anyways to see I still want the 6800). I curious if I can get them to give me a discount or Airport Extreme card for my new G5. 🙂 Here's hoping, I'll keep you all informed. 😎

Tryst I order my machine on the same day as you and its a edu order as well. It will be very interesting to see what tomorrow has in store for the both of us. My machine has a delivery date of on or before Sept. 14th. But somehow, someway I don't believe it will ship seeing as how I have already received the 6800 delay 'til Oct. 15th email. Seems as if from previous post here on this board Apple usually ships the order a couple of days before the commencement date; if in fact it ships at all. So biting my nails won't be an option this time they ruined my trust, I am just praying it won't rain tomorrow so I can calm my nerves while playing some golf. And whatever happens; happens. I really am not all that excited anymore seeing as how Apple has managed to take most of fun out of this order. My monitor has been delayed, the card has been delayed and the machine has been delayed. Also just to compare systems here is the specs for my machine. Good luck hope you at least get yours. -Ced

I am a switcher and I have the worst impression made by all manufacturers of any product I have ever purchased. Apple takes the cake by far over poor customer service and customer relations. Its apparent why Apple doesn't have the market share they so desperately desire. They can't get the machines to customers in a timely fashion, they can't explain where your machine is in the process of manufacturing, they can't tell you more than "We see its supposed to ship on or before this date" and if you get a nice rep on the phone they throw in the half ass "I'm sorry". I am fed up before I even get the machine, how frustrating to not receive something you order and be totally in the dark on the whole situation. Then you see Apple stores receiving systems and people walking in scooping them up, and they still have the fan issues and you ask yourself what the hell am I switching to this crap for? I will deal with blue screen errors anyday over this frustration at least on the other side I know what to expect; there isn't some guessing game. Hell windows XP never crashed on me once while I used it, the biggest reason for my conversion has been to use Logic Pro 6. I see alot of people say "Oh its worth it once you get the machine". But no its not, because my time is money and I am wasting time and money waiting on something that has failed multiple promise dates. The damage has been done people it can't be erased I don't care how nice the machine is or what it can do. I am above this crap and if it doesn't ship tomorrow oh well its back to Cubase for me... 🙂

recursivejon, congrats! After 3 months, 4 days and 12 hours, I too finally received a shipping notice, and with the free priority overnight it will be here in the morning!! I was so close to insanity. But now I can breath again. Wow, it feels good. Now it is time for everyone to think happy thoughts for klaus as he has also been waiting waaaaaay too long.

congratulations to the 2 guys that got their shipping notice, it was hard to get noticed between all these delay emails.. hopefully this october 15th date will be the last date they give you before the machine arrives.

damn, I wonder what would've happened to me if I ordered the 6800 as well? November? 😱

I was thinking yesterday about the good impression apple must have maid on Logic users. They buy it and say 'to hell with microsoft users". But then, they are capable of giving you an alternative. Very nice move.

Now I read your story, and I cant say: 'it's worth it' because I don't have mine yet, and if its not here this month I will freak out.

If I hear about actual delivery's of G5 iMac's I will freak out instantly.

hmm, sorry to have to say this to you..but.. on the iMac thread some people stated theirs shipped and have a fedex tracking number.. even some people who ordered yesterday.

maybe we can demand 2 iMac's for the price of our powermac.. 😀
 
I know, but I want to see a picture of an iMac on a desk to send that to Apple belgium. I don't want to hear the cheap argument "it's IBM" anymore. Also I stated that apple has less interest in professional costumers then they have in home-users and market share. This looks like a good illustration of that.

It's all been taking to long. I freak out every moment my G4 needs some more time for himself (I love the G4, but he's 5 years old and aging).

same problem at my place ... though i had used a dual g4 450 and replaced it with an used dual g4 1250 waiting for the revB g5s ... and well: they were announced , i ordered ... and the rest is history ...

I am currently using a G4 400MHz with PCI graphics. In fact, it is not a real G4, this version has a G3 motherboard. Apple has sold this thing for a few weeks, to make sure they could advertise with 'First desktop supercomputer'.
 
Delay in The Netherlands

Just got on the phone with our reseller in the Netherlands. He EXPECTS? the G5's at the end of september. So we've waited for 3 months already. Is there no way to sue somebody 😛


edit: At least I can enjoy my new iPod mini that just arrived!
 
Hi Peer, is that reseller referring to 2.5 G5's ordered by customers? If so, is he mentioning something about them being BTO or stock?
Or did he merely talk about when he is getting some stock in? (not ordered for customers)

I ask this because apparently there have been a few BTO machines that arrived at resellers in the benelux, but no stock machine has arrived as of yet.

My reseller talked to Apple Belgium, and they said to expect another shipment the 20st, but they can't tell to what reseller they are going.

I'm really really pissed with apple right now.. Although I am a huge fan of their machines, their delivery policy sucks bigtime...

Hi, we're all in the same boat. But I have to correct you: the inclusion of the 6800 is NOT included in any stock configuration.

Those of us who have opted for it, are waiting together -- all over the world. No one (to my knowledge) has received one through retail channels. There were some in evidence at the Apple Expo in Paris -- but none in consumer's hands as of yet.

Ge4-ce ordered a stock machine, and a separate Nvidia Kit. So he doesn't have to worry about the holdup of the 6800 for his G5.

It's just because we don't live in a major european or us country, that we can't seem to get any stock machines
