Why I bought when I did
There were some great deals on the older style Cinema Displays, but the new ones are just too cool.
I specifically waited until the WWDC announcement of the new displays because historically displays cost less when coupled with a new machine. The bonus is that they're covered by warranty when APP is purchased on the same invoice.slughead said:That doesn't necessarily mean it'll make a difference if you just buy a g5 now and wait for the monitor.
I think what they may have meant to say is: you have to register both products with Applecare at the same time.
When I registered for Applecare online, it asked if I had an Apple display as well.. I didn't have one, but I could've Applecare'd for no extra charge if I wanted to.
You might consider asking them specifically about that possibility, or calling an Apple retail store an asking them.
Again, I'm fairly certain if you have 2 UPC stickers on the bottom of your Applecare package, you may tie it to any units you want. Buy a display in town? buy a computer in town? you probably could use that Applecare package you bought online.
I know for certain that's what I did, but on the other hand, it might be different if you have a display..
