Have any of the other 2.5 G5 owers witnessed this type of behavior? ...

... The funniest thing is the ambient temperature in teh case is 66F, very cool. And how I'm running doing the same stuff and the die temperature are holding solid at 135 each. Weird!

That is wierd, usually people have recorded that the 2nd cpu is warmer than the 1st. perhaps yours is actually working properly :)

Skillsonmac,

When I hear something new, I'll post it right away!! Our southern neighbours (Belgium) also have a lot of news about deliveries in the Benelux.

I think a man from Belgium sold Steve Jobs some bad rocks during the 70's.

no way

Haha, Peer, don't worry, you didn't offend me :)
It takes a whole lot more to offend me

btw : mac heads should praise us belgian peeps, we have enough courage to throw a pie in the face of bill gates :D

letter to apple

Yes, Klaus, I would also like to send a letter of complaint.

Especially because now, even the iMac G5 are shipping and we didn't even receive the machines we ordered 3 months ago!!

This is so wrong.

And yes, Apple benelux is doing everything they can. if they don't get more, they can't do more.. But maybe a letter of complaint will help somehow. Whatever you do, keep me in touch, Maybe I can help you. 2 persons, or more, have more effect than one.

Cheers

sign me in. I will sign the letter with pleasure.

letter to apple

I'll write a letter tonight, along with my order confirmation from my dealer, i'll send it to Apple Benelux, and ask for explanations. that'll make 2 of us who are rightiously complaining.

If i tell anyone i'm waiting over 3 months, just for a computer, I can basically tell by the look on their face that they think i'm crazy.

don't forget about me, maybe it is not a bad idea to sign the letter with a few persons. No problem for me to provide all my contact details in the letter.

Well, after splitting up my order last week and being told by the ever-so-friendly customer service rep that my computer (minus the 6800) would be shipping within 10 days I now find that my Order Status shows a 10/26 ship date...
I know I haven't been waiting nearly as long as a lot of you, but this is too frustrating. I just wish they could give me the straight facts over the phone, not leave these little unpleasant surprises for me to find on my own...

I'll sign too.
I'm a (potential) switcher, ordered my G5 2.5 August 13th (that was a friday, so maybe a bad day to do that)at a reseller in Amsterdam, but I'm not going to wait that long. If it hasn't arrived on October 21st (birthday), I'll cancel the order and stay with pc's. I admire your patience, and I don't mean to offend anyone, but in pc land, holding on that long isn't called patience, but silly.
It's especially frustrating that resellers can't tell you anything, not "another month", not even the year it might arrive, just plain "we don't know".
I read an article on a dutch website about 2 G5's having arrived recently. It was seriously considered as news that 2 had arrived in an entire country!
I cannot comprehend that you guys put up with that. You must really like Apple a lot and really hate pcs.
Well, for now I'm hanging on with you guys, but only until october 21st, so see you around.

It may be a hassle to be sending the letter around to sign, especially if you want to add order information, like I intend to do. Maybe it's a better idea to make a template letter, which we can all send individually, but maybe we can refer to eachother in the letter itself.

That way we don't have to send eachother signatures and customer info

To all Benelux G5 2.5 waiters

Tonight I will be writing a letter to Apple Benelux and explain the situation we are all in. I will point them to several shortcomings in their shipping system, communication about shipping dates, etc. The things we constantly talk about in here. I'll add my order information in the letter (ordered through reseller) so they can't argue our waiting periods.

I will not be shouting at them, nor will I be assaulting them in any way, I will only point out that this kind of customer service is something that cannot be accepted.

I hope i'll get a decent answer to my letter, and my goal is that these things don't happen in the future. I know, it's a longshot, but it's better than doing nothing. The headquarters will at least know we are not very pleased with how things are going.

Now comes the part where other benelux waiters come in. If interested, I can send you a copy of my letter, so you can edit that with your own info, and send it as well. The more people the better.

If you are interested, mail me at klaus.debuysser[at]skynet.be, and i'll send you my letter if it's ready.

One more time : I will not bash Apple or anything, that will not help one single bit, they probably won't even read the entire letter. If we can show - in an adult way - that Apple has been treating us poorly, they will more likely respond.

Cheers

I allready wrote a letter..

I'll post it as an attachment.

It is in dutch.

See if you can find yourself in it. But this is my personal opinion on the subject.

Cheers,

Ge4-ce

I had this confusion too, but the recent delay notice you got may only be referring to the 6800 portion of the order. In fact I was ready to cancel when I got the email last night stating (rather generically) 'the product you ordered...' - so naturally I thought it was the computer. It seems it was for the 6800 and/or 30" monitor. My computer shipped today (although tracking for it won't show any data until tomorrow).

Fingers crossed, I'll have it for the weekend!

I recommend you call and find out what's going on. Chances are you're in the same boat.

Good letter, mine will be in the same league. I'll post it tonight, after soccer practice. You made some good points that i'll incorporate in mine as well.

I hope they will respond. Will you be sending the letter as "aangetekende brief" (sorry don't know the english word for it)? I think I will

Yes, I think I will send it as "een aangetekende brief" (I think it's called a "registered consignment")

Because if you do not, it's not taken seriously.

Have a nice training :)

klaus, I hope you letter and those of the others will be successful. If nothing else it will be something to help pass the time of waiting. Doing something in a positive manner hopefully will lift the spirit.

I know this isn't the right place to ask this but I'm a little anxious....I recieved my dual 2.5 last week. Just yesterday a problem occurred after sleeping. I can put it to sleep fine by pressing the button, and it will wake up fine with either the mouse or the keyboard. But as soon as it is awake, none of my inputs plugged into my computer work. The keyboard, mouse, and ipod. Nothing will get a response on screen. Also after putting it to sleep it will not go back to sleep by pressing the button and I have no way of doing it through the OS. The only thing I can do is hold down the power button until it turns off. Since this has happened I have run the extended hardware test with everything passing, repaired permissions, and restarted multiple times. I am kind of out if ideas and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or this has happened to anyone.
this has happened on me a couple of times with a G4 450DP. but not with my 2.5DP, is the light on the keycap working? I use to get no light but the mouse lit making me think it was no power to the kbd. remove the usb from the mac and reinsert it into a different socket. the mac should recognise it as a new kbd mouse and load the drivers
don
PS next time it does it, look for the last file updated in the library preferences and remove it to the desktop. the mac will create a new one

About time!

Fed-Ex says the beast is on the beeg twuck to be delivered b4 4:30 PM. So..... I'll be incommunicado fer at least a week. ;-) Pix to follow........

OK, ignore my post earlier up on this page where I was a little excited because I thought my machine would ship earlier than Friday. Just got a new email (sent conveniently after the phone lines closed) that my order is now not expected to ship until the 22nd of October!

Now, the only thing I can think of to try to keep a positive feeling about this is that MAYBE they're just referring to the 6800 card portion of my order -- as it has since been split up (shipping with a 9600XT), etc.

Glassbathroom? Mfx? Did you get the same mail?
No, i've not got this sort of message ...
I got a "partially shipping" ...
G5, iSight and Applecare shipped on 21/09/04 !
And the 6800 card is always "on or before 15/10"

Is waiting really ending ???

I sure wish you the same :D

Well, woke up this morning and my shipping date has been bumped to November 11th. I ordered this computer on June 30th here in the good 'ole USA.

$%$^$% Apple! Unbelieveable.

Hi, grebo and glassbathroom ...

Seem to be on the same boat again :)
But it's a better one, this time !
shipped on 21/09, but the 6800 still later ...

At last :D

Congratulation, and hope that others are going to be happy soon too ...

Awaiting software.

I have been following this thread for a while now even before I ordered my system. This was ordered through a reseller about a month ago (Duel 2.5 with 23" monitor and the production suite). The hardware has been with the reseller for a week now (not bad service compared to some experiences on here) but as of today there is no sign of the software. Has anyone taken delivery of the Production suite?

I am moving from a pc system and I just hope the wait is worth it.

Does anyone know what the hell this "tech tool" disk that came with my G5 does? I can't get my G5 to boot off it so.. ?

ADC order arrived (despite road construction)

Like a number of others, I've been reading this thread throughout this frustrating experience but haven't posted before. Although the 6800 guys certainly have it worse, it seems like the ADC folks have also been significantly delayed, so I'll report my info here:

Computer: Stock + BT KB/Mouse, airport, 1GB ram, 23" display
Ordered 7/13 ADC
Delivery by 8/20
Delayed to 9/3, 9/14, 10/15
Shipped on 9/20, arrived 9/21

I stayed home from work today to wait for the fedex truck, but the city chose today to repave my street! I didn't think the fedex truck could make it, but it did. Check out the fedex truck sneaking past the street grinder in the picture. Go FedEx!

I just started playing with the new computer, and it's really really nice. I love the 23" display. It's quite an upgrade from my G3 iMac. I hope everyone else gets theirs soon.
