A week is a long time in politics

But not if you are waiting for the 2.5G5! last week I gave up waiting for my G5 2.5 with 6800 and changed the order to a 9600. Today I have a shipping notice. My only regret was that about an hour AFTER I changed my order Apple started to roll out the modification to UK orders giving those in the waiting list 9600's FOC and backordering the 6800. I will have to buy the 6800 when they eventually become available... I doubt I will though unless I get a 30" screen, so it is lost business for Apple.

How long does it take from shipping notice to delivery in Great Britain, answers here not on a post card please

Well mine is not there yet

I ordered the following items on AUGUST 14, 2004:
- 2x2.5 G5
- 2 Go RAM
- 2x250 GB HD
- NVIDIA 6800 DDl
- 30" display
+ some other bells and whistles

Supposed to ship "On or Before 9/21/04)

I receive an email today (the "theoretical" shipping date):

Subject: Important information about your G5

Dear Apple Customer,

Thank you for ordering the Power Mac G5 with the NVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL Graphics card. We look forward to making this exciting new technology available to you.

Unfortunately, we are experiencing unexpected delays and cannot meet the ship date we previously estimated for you. We now expect to ship your Power Mac G5 with the NVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL Graphics Card on or before October 22nd. If your order includes an Apple 30" Cinema HD Display, it will also ship on or before October 22nd. Your satisfaction remains important to us and we do appreciate your patience. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this delay has caused you.

Please rest assured that we fulfill all orders in the order they are received.

Apparently the NVIDA AND the 30" are not available!

DOA! NOOOOOO!!!!!

I guess I spoke too soon. It seemed that the fans were running too much (similar to reports by others here), so I ran the hardware test, and one of the heatsinks reported an error. Apple marked it DOA and I'm sending it back for a new one. It was really nice for the couple hours I used it. Back to waiting...
Anyone else out there who got a DOA remember how long it took to get a new machine?

Like a number of others, I've been reading this thread throughout this frustrating experience but haven't posted before. Although the 6800 guys certainly have it worse, it seems like the ADC folks have also been significantly delayed, so I'll report my info here:

Computer: Stock + BT KB/Mouse, airport, 1GB ram, 23" display
Ordered 7/13 ADC
Delivery by 8/20
Delayed to 9/3, 9/14, 10/15
Shipped on 9/20, arrived 9/21

I stayed home from work today to wait for the fedex truck, but the city chose today to repave my street! I didn't think the fedex truck could make it, but it did. Check out the fedex truck sneaking past the street grinder in the picture. Go FedEx!

I just started playing with the new computer, and it's really really nice. I love the 23" display. It's quite an upgrade from my G3 iMac. I hope everyone else gets theirs soon.

i saw some guys who initially were up for another 4 weeks of waiting, but as it all turned out, the replacements get a much higher priority, so he had it within a week I think.

Sorry to hear it's doa, but that happens, no luck today for you...

ps : how is the new 23" display? no pink issues, or uneven backlighting?

My letter to Apple Benelux

Well,

attached is my letter that's going out tomorrow (or today considering it's past midnight).

I hope they'll answer me, best scenario is that the G5 is on my desk before the reply is in the mailbox, but I'm not counting on it :D

cheers guys!

ps : it's also in dutch, sorry guys :)

I didn't see the pink problem, so maybe I do have some luck today. With pixel tester, the left few inches showed a slight lightness with some colors, but I didn't notice it with normal use or looking at photos, so I'm not going to worry about that. I'm not a graphics professional, so I'm not the best evaluator of the screen. I can only compare it to my old G3 iMac (no comparison there) and a Dell laptop with a nice 1600x1200 screen. The 23" is so big and bright that it just blew me away.
Now I just need a working G5 to power it!

By the way, I wanted bluetooth anyway, so I decided to spring for the wireless keyboard and mouse and I really liked them. It was strange and nice to not have any cables at all on my desk.

good letters send to apple benelux

@klaus
@G4CE
translation is way to much work, but believe me, they are correct and to the point.

Are they upgrading our shipping? I've been waiting 2+ months now for a $7000 system, it seems the least they could do is send it express.

I ordered my 6800 on June 28... still haven't got it.

Shipped

Ok, so I've been reading this thread since I ordered on August 20 with ever sinking fear that my estimated ship date (Sept. 27) would get bumped when it got near. But Lo! Didn't I receive an email today (Sept 21) that my Dual 2.5 has shipped!

Sympathies to all those still waiting... ;)

What did you order? A network cable or something?

Order placed on 12th of July

Hi there
On 12th of July i ordered the following:
Standard dual 2,5 Ghz G5
- 56k modem
+ bluetooth
+ airport express

My delivery date has been pushed twice, and has now ended up in a "delivery date unknow" message from my reseller (The biggest reseller in my country!!), but it came from Apple

I wrote this e-mail to dk.consumer@euro.apple.com:

I have now since 12th of july 2004 waited on an order via Computerstore A/S in Denmark.
It's a dual 2,5 Ghz G5 with standard config, but with small changes:
minus 56k modem
+ Bluetooth module
+ Airport Extreme module

My delivery date has been pushed twice and the last date was 17th of September.
I have now received a new message saying "unknow delivery date"
WHAT IS GOING WRONG???

IT'S 10 WEEKS WE ARE TALKING ABOUT
On Applestore.dk you write "build-time: 3-5 weeks" You are fooling everyone!!!

I just had to get some steam out of my head!!

Shipped, but still no data

The tracking URL they provided me still has had no progress for the last 24 hours...

I'll tell you one thing, I never noticed TNT delivery vans and trucks before, and now I see them EVERYWHERE!

Grebo, no change here either. I have some very strange numbers which I think are just Apple's numbers and not proper tracking numbers. They are :-

8014299338000010
8014299338000020
A6222914
00340422530000569276

(I have 23" Display coming with the G5). My Airport Express shipped on Monday night an arrived here Tuesday morning - very fast!

Cheers

Me too Grebo!!! :)
My tracking information hasn't changed since I got the shipping notification, and I've spent the last day and a half alternately running to the window at the sound of any truck going past,or nervously biting my nails trying not to think about it!!! :D

Gerwin, if you send you're e-mail to my private message, I can forward it to you. It's the eNews letter you can subscribe on, through the Apple store site itself, I think you get it automatically when you buy something through the site.

Klaus, Nice letter and to the point!

I mailed it this morning. Via "aangetekende brief" I hope they answer my letter.

One thing is certain. they shall read it.

good luck

No thanks, I figured out you meant "the Apple Store", instead of "an apple store". Apple store also claims that they can deliver stock G5 2Ghz in 1-3 days, and 2.5's in 3-5 weeks. Somehow, I don't quite believe that

Today I got the Newsletter from the Dutch Apple Store (eNews september). It says the Powermac 2,5 GHz G5 is AVAILABLE as of NOW (correct english?). Hmmm...

Well, the Swiss German newsletter reads: "Finally, the day has come, the new dual 2.5 GHz PowerMac model is now available from the Apple Store." I don't know what that is supposed to mean because like everywhere else could you order a dual 2.5 through the Swiss Apple Store from day 1. Perhaps they're saying there now starting to deliver them to customers in Switzerland (as well as the rest of Europe)

Edit: I just noticed in title above the picture of the PM w/ alu LCD, it says:
"Extremely powerful system is being shipped"

This might be the sign you guys in Holland and Belgium have been waiting for so long. Fingers crossed :)

Don't think so, but it might be news anyway, because the same message also contains the following words:
NVidia GeForce 6900 Ultra DDL-videokaart.
No such videocard is available in the stores however, I don't even think it exists, so I'm afraid it's just ******* promo-talk.
The message gets more infuriating though, because there's a link underneath it that says:"click here for 'amazing' gains in productivity" (poorly translated).
So I clicked that, hoping it would lead me to news from IBM that they suddenly managed to produce 970fx chips in enormous quantities :D . But no such luck, it linked me to the applestore/powermac page, encouraging me to buy a G5.
