A guy at Techdata (a distributer) where I ordered my 2.5 said that the delays were due to holiday in Taiwan. The fabric where they make stuff that should belong into a PowerMac is closed for 3 weeks..

Woops... I meant Factory.. In my language Factory means "Fabriek" and I translated it pretty literaly thinking it was a synonym for Factory..

These are not the same areas of testing as the previous seed. Interesting. I just might have been onto something in my congested state. See, the wait is making me ill.

Oh, yeah... yesterday, the hold on my bank card mysteriously dropped off, and I was very worried that Apple would try to ship my 2.5, the charge would be denied, and my shipment end up delayed who knows how long, so I was going to call my bank today. Surprisingly, the hold showed back up this morning - don't know how since the increased daily limit was supposed to be for only one day back on June 11th, but someone put it back.
 
Just found this from a post at MaCNN

"Ok, just called apple again. The guy I spoke to said it did seem a bit fishy and he didnt think the card was available until mid august or later. I was then put on hold for 15 min while he spoke to a supervisor. When he returned he said the first batch of 2.5's will go out friday FOR SURE as will a limited # of 6800's. He said anyone ordering a 6800 now could expect it in mid august and if my order is delayed on friday I should be able to expect it mid august."

Sounds about right...

Those of us who ordered earliest will have our G5s ship in the first small batch of G5s, thus keeping Steve's promise of a July ship date and preventing a large number of complaints and cancellations. (Though I'm sure there will still be PLENTY)

I can't wait till next week!!!!!!!!!! :D :)
 
Maybe... just maybe....

First day order - first few minute upgrade of 6800 after store opened during WWDC.... maybe just maybe this is why my date has remained 7/30..... One can dream

Patients and optimism are often hurt by reality..... but I'll survive - would be nice to get 23inch AND CPU with in a few days of each otehr.....

...and sadly my first ever MacRumors post turns out to be an emphatic 'me too'! Zaphod is a kick ass name for a dual 2.5 and I'm kicking myself for not thinking of it on my own.

I would also like to point your attention to the new AI article, which indicates that some of us will indeed be getting our orders shipped this/next week. I fit all the criteria mentioned and can't wait.

Finally, as a first-time poster but moderate-time lurker, I need to give a hearty laugh and salutation to the hilarious Duff-Man. The dedication to the character is both staggering and hilarious, oh yeah!

I dont know what the deal is, but peole claiming to see charges on the CC have to be not telling all the details, cuz Apple does not charge CC until the order ships, not a few days before but the day of. To be sure I checked with Apple on their policy and they confirmed it.

Also, pre-authorizations are taken immediately as the order is placed. And that is probably what people are seeing.
 
Well, does this mean that I will actually receive mine with the 6800 in mid August? Currently I have an on or before ship date of 9/03. I would be really happy if it came during August instead though.
 
This is just too exciting

WOW, this is like watching NFL football on Satellite in a storm .. 4 and goal 15 seconds left ... the running back motions right, here's the snap, qb drops back, throws to the end side and its zapppp there goes the connection ...

So to link this to our new MAC's .. we can see them smell them almost taste them .. but that storm may or may not come and ruin the ending .. Here's hoping for a busy FEDEX few days !
 
My 2.5 woes....

I ordered on the morning of the annoucement and I would be livid if mine had not shown by now. But since I added the 30" monitor and the new video card mine was pushed back to 8/31, which was understandable since the cards are not out yet. Well, after I had reviewed my order I noticed that the salesperson had not added the Btooth module. I called to have it added. Today I checked and it pushed me back to 9/09. Apparently Apple has no way of changing an order and has to cancel it and reorder it, thus losing the order's place in que. I call shenanigans on this. Well they said there was nothing they could do so the lady gave me $100 bucks off the system on top of my EDU discount. I guess I am happy enough... I just want to have this bad boy here NOW! 4,000,000 pixels of joy will be here in... well I don't know, but it will be here!

Maybe you are referring to my post. I don't like being called a "peole." :D No my bank card has not been charged, but there is a hold on the funds, meaning that the pre-authorization was done. They did the pre-auth. originally on June 11th, and it disappeared yesterday, but reappeared today. My AVAILABLE BALANCE has been lowered, not my ACTUAL BALANCE.

I stopped by the Northpoint Apple Store (Alpharetta, GA) today to get an Airport Extreme Base Station and asked one of the guys there about the 2.5s (again). He said Apple is very secretive about this stuff and that they won't even know what the deal is until it happens. However, he said the one thing you can count on from Apple is that they will update the Estimated Ship Date as soon as they know that they can't meet it. Given Apple Insider's article, the fact that we are merely 2 days away from the first deadline and the Est. Ship Date still says 7/30, I'm inclined to believe that they really will ship on Friday. They better do it 2-day Express like I was told and not Ground the way my display was shipped.

Let it be known far and wide that I, Mr MacNabbit, was first to consider the name Zaphod for my Dual 2.5Ghz G5, and all those that will surely follow, are imposters with clones of my master machine! :cool: :D

if I remember correctly, didnt they bump ship dates for the dual 2s the night before? I seem to remember a general bedlam (myself included) last fall....
 
Ahhhhhh!!!

The dang Apple Insider web site link to the report does not work from here or their site!! "too busy" and some gobbledy gook about "line 29" explaination.

Anybody fill me in about the shipping info and DETAILS, please?

I of course am leaving town next week, was wanting to take the new machine w/ me (fat chance), but it seems the "higher" sources here and Macmall were really indicating mid to late Aug. now, so I told my wife and kids, "Let's go" and we'll leave a day earlier". Now this? I know AI has never been wrong before ;), but I could tell from their main page this was listed as a "report" and not a rumor.....?
