Added 23 inch about two weeks ago.... scheduled for 8/11 - FED EX and Apple say it arrives today - keep the faith that your will also arrive EARLY!

IJ

I had something similar happen with my 2001 quicksilver. I ordered it the day it came out, much like the 2.5 G5. It was scedualed to ship in mid august, but i had it on my desk the last week of july, surprised me.

Keep your hopes up.

Anyone thought about why they would warehouse the 2.5 G5s they have manufactured to all ship at once?

Here's 3 ideas:

1. There is a goody in the box they want everyone to find out about at the same time, or at least the first group.

2. There is something about it that they expect will result in a lot more orders being placed once the 2.5DP is out there, and they already have a serious backorder problem.

3. They expect a lot of flack from people complaining about shipping delays and this will hold it off as long as possible as right now they can say noone has rec'd it.

I would think that it is either

a) If you ship a bulk load at once, it gets Apple out of the answering the question, how come he has one and I don't and who gets them first question. I am assuming Apple has no real way of 1st come 1st served, more like in June we took (made up numbers coming) 10,000 orders from Apple Online, 4,000 from Resellers and 1,000 from the store. By the end of July we will have made 12,000 ... So the 10,000 Apple online get theirs and the rest are split between reseller and apple stores. It seems that the resellers and stores cannot track accuratley order status unlike those who purchased on line. I know that my 2.5 order from a reseller is in the .. "Not sure when we are getting ours q"

or

b) Done a great deal with Fedex ...

1. Would be great, but like what? - I doubt it someheow! - unless they have replaced the keyboards and mouse styles? - doubt it..

2. Probably just because it's the fastest mac ever. So fast as yet, we haven't seen it! ;)

3. Most likely, although some have according to some threads, but only specially favoured people. :)

Here's another one:

4. There is something backordered that needs to be added to the box, but did not hold up the assembly of the computer itself.

Also, I don't think it's the OS version. They have shipped things in the past with a special version of the OS.

MacNabbit: Well, there is a mysterious item on the checkout shipping list called 'accessory kit' that isn't included with the 1.8 and 2.0s... :)

1. I wouldn't mind an ipod. :)
2. meh
3. Very possible. It would look better if they didn't trickle out of the warehouses slowly.

Has anyone checked their Online Apple Store Order Status lately? My shipping date just changed in the last hour from 7/30/2004 to 8/20/2004. This doesn't look good. And I ordered the afternoon of the announcement.

Yeah, I check mine about every 15 minutes. It's obsessive, I know. Especially, considering that I will get an e-mail confirmation if it changes. I just checked again and mine still says 7/30.

Bad News

Well folks here is some bad news. I just called to check status of my order again for the third time today. And according to the rep on the phone all D2.5 G5's have been pushed to 8/20. Even though the website order status does not reflect this as of yet but it should very soon.

In order to see the 8/20 date you need to call them. The website has not sync'd all changes just yet. Call them you will see.

BTW, if you call they will offer you $90 off as apeasement... I mean screw the $90 and just send me my f**#&^ machine already.

That Dell with dual Xeon 3.4's is looking sweeter all the time. To bad it doesnt look as cool as the DP2.5's

Mine just got pushed to 8/20 as well. :(

When did you guys order?

If you got pushed to 8/20 when did you place your order? The rumor was saying that only orders placed within the first week to 10 days should go out close to on time...it's just a rumor so that may mean nothing. some may still go out, and if that's the case i wonder what selection process is being used as to which orders are going to be filled.

As I said in my post, I ordered on the afternoon of the announcement date (June 9, 2004) and I know many others that did as well and they all got pushed back.

A Dell? Anything running Windows? NOT A CHANCE. I hate that crap! I tolerate it all day, every day. By the way, my order still says 7/30.

All orders have been pushed to 8/20. Mine for example was placed the first day or two after the DP was announced.

mine is still showing 8/2...wonder how long its gonna take for it to get pushed to 8/20 to reflect that...apple...buncha c*cksuckers

For those whose ship date has changed, which graphics card did you order? The rumor also said that an very limited number of 6800s were going to ship. I know of several people in this thread that had 7/30 ship dates even though they ordered or later upgraded to the 6800 card.

Order time

Placed order for DP 2.5GHz cto (bluetooth and airport) on June 9, 6:27 AM PST. Moved to 8/20 about an hour ago.

Kind words from Apple

THIS JUST IN:

To Our Valued Apple Customer:

Thank you for ordering the new Dual 2.5GHz Power Mac G5!

The demand for this item has been incredible.

We are shipping them as quickly

^&%^$&%&%***B*LLSH*T*** (*^*&^*^*^*^^*

as possible, but cannot meet the ship date we previously estimated
for you.

We now expect to ship your Power Mac on or before August 20th.

Please rest assured that we fulfill all orders in the order they are
received.
If we do not hear from you prior to shipment, we will assume the
revised date is acceptable, and will ship your order. We will notify you if there
are any changes to the revised ship date.

Forget it. Doesn't matter. My ship date still hasn't changed online, but my Mac at home just forwarded the apologetic "can't meet the previously estimated ship date" email from the Apple Store team. This is such bullsh*t. You cannot tell me that they didn't know before today that they couldn't ship them tomorrow. This is a really awful way to treat your early adopter customers and they are going to know that I'm pissed about it. Someone is getting yelled at.

I got the apple order number from purchaseing and checked my invoice. I'm still slated for 7/30/04. Here are my specs on the g5 for you all to compare, maybe it could be the video card, or something as simple as running out of bluetooth cards.
