The Mac already has an extra power connector on the AGP slot which is used to power the monitor through the ADC connection. Since the 6800 does not have ADC port they can use that power for their own uses. The Mac version will not have extra power leads like the PC version.

i ordered my machine aug 17th....2.5 with 2 gigs + the fabulous 6800...
they sent a notice to me via my .mac account....says it went out last night....the fedex number was not updated yet..so no info...I will check it again now....so excited...I just hope it works...

I have had a two comp network at home for a couple years and friends come over to online game with me. I think my friend was worried that he would be at a disadvantage when we game because i would be on a much better comp so he ordered it so he could compete.klaus said:I need friends like that as well. Maybe supply is increasing for the cards. I can't wait so see one in action. I unfortunatly decided to settle for the 9800 XT. I have no need for a 30" monitor but I'm sure I'll get to check them out in one of the Apple Stores here in the Atlanta area.

CPU Temp readings?
Eros - send us a pucture of machine with the card at lease we can raise our hopes with your recent bundle of joy that is on the way.
Also I know this is a little late in the game but where are you all getting the temp reading for your 2.5dp CPUs?
My superficial scane of the utilities does not show me that exact tool...

well..... I'm sitting here on a dual 2.5ghz machine, barebones except ram (upgraded to 2gb) and I'm in a room with about 100 others identical to this one. My schooll just recieved these about 2 to 3 weeks ago and all i can say is that they're fast. And quiet too for a room with 100 machines it is suprisingly quiet. Alas I don't have my own yet but at least I have some to work on in the meantime.

For those in the uk (if u were not already aware) apple does do a 2 day delivery option i got my ship notice on 5th oct and checking tnt tracking service its due for delivery tommorrow 7th oct. It seems that the orders don't have to go via netherlands from cork ireland to uk direct.

so tomorrow at 3pm...according to apple and fedex...i will have the 2.5 with 6800 in my fat hands...very excited...but i still dont believe it....and wont untill I see the bastard board in the very sexy machine...we did get 2 2.5 machines at work...they are to be fcp machines and have 4 gigs in them....and just playing with them for seconds...I could tell that this was a SERIOUS machine....I cant even imagain what will happ when you put TIGER in the tank.... fellow mac people, we are now in the new age of computing....xp is a wall that is slowly crumbling.......and I cant wait to see what happens next...

finally! they are starting to ship! i'm still waiting for my 2.5 + 6800 as well. did any of the orders go through with 30" monitors? i decided to order them separately in hopes that i could just run down to the local apple store and pick up one without waiting, then cancel the online order. i hope my monitor comes before the next hardware upgrade.
I take it you didn't opt for Apple Protection Plan initially? That was what my order had to go to Holland to 'merge in ship' with! And they both came from different parts of Ireland (Dublin and Cork) AND they arrived as separate packages anyway!hotmaj said:

Back from Belgium
Yesterday evening i´ve returned from Belgium and no mail notice whatsoever on my G5. Up until now i was not able to contact my dealer.
But as it seems that machines are now shipping to severel resellers in Europe i hope that at least next week i will receive a "G5 arrived" notice from my dealer.
I´d like to use the chance to say thank you to all the people from Belgium that provided me with tips and warnings for Brussels. I really enjoyed my stay.
