6 Months???
I have been following this thread for quite a while. I ordered a Dual 2.5 with 23" monitor from MacMall in mid July, I talked to my rep today and he said don't ecpect to see it this year. That will be a total of 6 moths of waiting. Did any of you order form Mac mall and if so, did you recieve your machine yet.

Hey guys, at least Apple is not charging while we wait
I was looking at some articles on the Web when I hit the B&H site and this is what they say for the dualie 2.5 G5:
" Availability: Accepting Orders
Note! This item is currently not in stock. We are accepting orders and it will be shipped when in stock. Orders will be filled in the order they are received. Your card will be charged upon placing the order."
Wheeeeew!!! It would have killed me to place a 10K order, pay for it and not enjoy using the 2.5 G5! Does not make me feel like I want to be in Business with B&H
Hopefully the light is at the end of the tunnel... Take care...

How long after shipping notification did you guys receive your computers?
I got notification on the 9th and have been checking TNT's website ever since. This morning I got the colly wobbles when TNT's site stated that my order appeared to have been delivered to somebody in Germany!
Rang Apple who said there's nothing to worry about, but informed me that I may have to wait until the 20th for delivery
Ordered: 2.5 G5, 6800 card and a few other things along with a 23" display.
Order is currently in The Netherlands.

Seven days of waiting makes one 'weak'
I too had a tracking number that was signed for by somebody in Los Angeles back in June of this year -- however once you get your consignment number, the tracking will go very quickly, and you'll get it within two days of TNT taking it over from the other company.
It took FIVE days before TNT registered any activity on my shipment. It was very frustrating. And forget about that link that Apple provides (using a Bridge Point URL). It STILL shows no activity on my order, and I've had the box for a couple weeks now.

6800 HMMM
ok, so I have had the 6800 for a few days now...and first...it is very fast... using maya with some dynamics it really is much faster then on my maya dynamics pc....BUT!!!!! this puppy whines up the fans ALOT....at first it didnt bug me but now I am wondering if it is normal...so ..is it normal??? I have a 2.0 at work..at it never fans up like this...but is it the 6800 or the mac>>???? any ideas???

I am not sure what the deal is but according to scores over at XBench my $600 6800 is getting it's butt handed to it by the ATi cards. I thought the 6800 was a superior card? Hence the reason it costs so much. I am hoping it is the drivers and better ones are on the way. It is really disappointing that this card is giving inferior results to the ATi's. Especially when I had to wait 3 months to get it! Anyone else seeing similar results?

Well, it's been almost 90 days, but my G5 with 6800 is scheduled to arrive tomorrow (10/12), and my 30" display on Wednesday (10/13). I feel badly knowing that some of you have been waiting even longer than I, so I hope the long ordeal is almost over for you as well. I can't wait to fire up FCP and Photoshop on my new G5. I'm looking forward to the speed increase over my PB G4 Titanium.
Although I've only had a few posts, I've been following this forum ever since it began. Thanks to everyone who has shared his/her joy, frustration, and experiences, both good and bad. Each day I've looked forward to hearing your thoughts. Hearing your thoughts and experiences has helped enormously through what has been at times an extremely frustrating experience. Thanks especially to tamtam and solo act for your work on the spreadsheet. Thanks also to those, like klaus and others, who have been very encouraging to people during the long wait. I am looking forward to the day when everyone on this forum has received their G5, and the long wait is nothing but a bad memory.

My G5 (dual 2.5 6800, 1 gb ram) finally shipped today.
30'' is still scheduled to ship friday (was pushed back again), but comp shipped 11 days early!
Will suck having the comp sit around cause my current display is adc though

I DO hope your machine is not afflicted like mine is. If you ever come back to your computer and it's asleep and you haven't set any Power Saving settings -- or if you just have it shut down on you for (seemingly) no reason at all -- check the System Logs (either via the Utilities > Console.app > 'Consoles' icon > select System Logs, or About This Mac > More Info > Logs > System Logs)theROZ said:

Well, it says what it says, after 4 months, my g5 has reached the dealer.
Now, i'll have to wait another 24 hours to go pick it up, since I have soccer practice this evening, and won't be able to set it up anyway, so'll wait until tomorrow.
my nephews dual 2.0 BTO has arrived today as well, he placed an order 3 weeks ago.
Guess my family's mac percentage has gone up by 200%
Well, it says what it says, after 4 months, my g5 has reached the dealer.
Now, i'll have to wait another 24 hours to go pick it up, since I have soccer practice this evening, and won't be able to set it up anyway, so'll wait until tomorrow.
my nephews dual 2.0 BTO has arrived today as well, he placed an order 3 weeks ago.
Guess my family's mac percentage has gone up by 200%

I'm surprised that MacMall hasn't been getting some 2.5's already. It doesn't seem right to charge at the time of order, especially if your wait could be months. Normal business practice is to charge at time of prepration of shipping your order. Maybe it is just worded wrong.
That is quit an awesome machine that you are ordering. Haven't seen too many yet that have ordered the 30" Display. There should probably be a separate thread for those with the 30" display.
