I just got this letter from Apple. There still must be problems in Houston. This is not good. I would like to talk to the guy that told me yesterday that it would ship Friday.

To Our Valued Apple Customer:

Thank you for ordering the new Dual 2.5GHz Power Mac G5!

The demand for this item has been incredible. We are shipping them as quickly
as possible, but cannot meet the ship date we previously estimated for you. We
now expect to ship your Power Mac on or before August 20th.

Please rest assured that we fulfill all orders in the order they are received.

is acceptable, and will ship your order. We will notify you if there are any
changes to the revised ship date.

To check the status of your order, visit <http://www.apple.com/orderstatus>.
When your Power Mac ships, you will receive a Shipment Notification via email
explaining how you may track the package.

We appreciate your patience and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this
delay has caused you. Thank you for your interest in Apple products!

Sincerely,
The Apple Store Team

at least you got a f'n email... mine just was bumped, no email notification. Too bad I can't wait another month, they just lost my order. By the time I would get mine [expecting another bump], the preorder process for the G6 probably would have started.

-arrgghh

This is pissing me off. They just changed my date to August 20th! I ordered the first day!

MacNabbit: Well, there is a mysterious item on the checkout shipping list called 'accessory kit' that isn't included with the 1.8 and 2.0s... :)
I have something called: Country Kit 065-4894
What is this? But I don't have this "accessory kit" you speak of.

Well, I'm 8/20 now too. Nice email from Apple, though.

As I have posted before, while I am disappointed, I will gladly wait if it means a quality machine. I just don't want any issues when the new Mac arrives.

This needs to be my main machine for the next 4-5 years. I want perfection. And I hope Apple delivers.

For those whose ship date has changed, which graphics card did you order? The rumor also said that an very limited number of 6800s were going to ship. I know of several people in this thread that had 7/30 ship dates even though they ordered or later upgraded to the 6800 card.

I guess I can't really complain, since I ordered on July 10. (I did not intend to get a new computer, but my desktop died the previous week.) Still, my shipping date has been 07/30/04 until an hour ago.

I deliberately did not upgrade the video card, in hopes there would be no extra delays. The only things I changed were a bigger hard drive (250 GB) and more RAM (2x512).

You need to call, call 1-800-My-Apple. They will tell you that you order is pushed to 8/20

the "8-20-04" email arrived here too.

Came in this afternoon when I checked my mail. Just posting. I'll be reading the confirmations from others waiting in line. This is a good point in this thread to see how many posting here have actually ordered a G5.

Too bad those who were first to order are even being put on hold with the rest of us. I ordered the 26th of June.

20 days and counting......again. --E

I just went and configured a Dual 2.0 with the NVIDIA card just to see when the ship date was. It said 5-7 business days. Skeptical, I when to the accessories page and added a NVIDIA card to my cart. The ship date on that was "Late August"

I called Apple to ask which was correct, obviously it was Late August.

i feel sick.

APPLE > SHIP DIFFERENT

Can someone tell me why apple did yet another pre-auth on my checking account minutes after they sent me an email telling me I would have to wait another 21 days?

Apple MUST be f'in with my head!

I just love the fact that we are still all posting in a forum that's called "Dual 2.5GHz PowerMacs Shipping."

Thanks MacRumors for rubbing it in :)

Payed via chashier check in full at time of order. So they have had $5,600+ for this entire time.

How many of you would buy your Mac hardware from another company if available?

Remember PowerComputing? They had great customer support, 30-day money back guarantee with no questions asked and their computers were a step ahead of Apple's in performance. Oh, and I might add, you didn't have to wait 2-3 months to take delivery of a new model once it was announced either.

I revised it for you. I'm wilhelm richter there, and the thing has so many grammar errors. :

We, the undersigned, ask that Apple cease from making unfulfilled promises concerning the PowerMac G5's.

The idea for a company to announce, take orders on a product, and not intend to ship for almost two months from an announcement date is a disservice to customers. Then, for this company to wait 12 hours before the promised shipping date and "revise" the shipping date once more to three weeks later is downright HORRIBLE customer service.

We certainly know that delays are inevitable and in order to keep your products 100% you must push release dates. However, to keep your loyal customers in the dark until 12 hours before release is not keeping par with the customer service that Apple strives for. Additionally, for one to speak with Apple Store representatives just 13 hours before release and be told, "Yes, your order will ship on the thirtieth of July," is not only bad customer service, but an outright lie.

Mr. Jobs, we are reasonable people, and all we expect is a little respect and truth to your customers. As you are probably aware, the company that you have built has developed a cult-like following, and your most loyal fans are probably the first to jump on new products. So to keep some of us Apple veterans, as well as new "switchers", in the dark for such a long period is disgusting.

In summation, we ask that Apple increase their communication with their customers and also be realistic with their promises. Also, please keep your Apple Store representatives informed on dates with accurate information.

We thank you for your time and eagerly anticipate your reply.

Sincerely,

Obviously, i still question whether som parts should be in at all....but anyways, please revise your petition. thanks.

The old one:

We, the undersigned, ask that Apple cease from making unfulfilled promises.

The idea for a manufacturer to announce and take orders on a product (PowerMac G5 Dual 2.5) that does not intend to ship for almost two months from an announcement date is bad customer relations. And then to have a manufacturer wait until 12 hours before promised ship date and then move said ship date three weeks later is down right HORRIBLE customer service.

We certainly know that delays are inevitable and in order to keep you rproducts 100% you must push release dates. However to keep your loyal customers in the dark until 12 hours before release is not in keeping with the customer service that Apple strives for. And, to speak with Apple Store reps just 13 hours before release and be told, "yes your order will ship on 7/30" is not only bad customer service but a lie.

Mr. Jobs we are reasonable people all we expect is a little respect and truth to your customers. As you are probably aware the company that you built has developed a cult-like following, and your most loyal fans are probably the first to jump on new products. And to keep us in the dark in unreasonable.

In summation we ask that Apple increase their communication with their customers and also be truthful with that information. Also, please keep your Apple Store reps informed on dates with accurate information as well.

We thank you for your time, and eagerly anticipate your reply.

Sincerely,
