Just got off the phone now with AppleStore UK.
Have 3 on order (std. config)... order placed 1st July.

"Middle of August" was the reply.
"Can you be more precise?" I asked?
"No"

Update: 5 mins later, I get an email saying 'August 20th' and that demand has been 'incredible'

5 minutes after posting I got the same! :(

UK here, I've not gotten any email and the online status is still "On or before 30/07/2004" although going by other posts the online status is meaningless.

I ordered on 15/06, if I don't get an update, either way, by the end of the day I may email my rep.

Well - no news is good news I hope! :)

I have emailed my guy, hopefully he will have some good news.

:0) Sorry... you never know... Maybe yours will be a good one.
That product line is working like crazy and you just know what happens when people get in a rush.

like I said.... I will wait a month or so to reorder mine.

I just checked my order status. It now says 9/20 as the ship date. At midnight last night it still said 7/30. I still have not gotten an email from apple. I ordered on 6/22.

Ok I just received this email from Apple... has anyone else?

Alright, so earlier I posted that I had received one of those "We removed a line item to expedite your order" emails and that my shipping estimate was holding steady at 7/30. Boy, how quickly things can change. I just checked my order status again and now it says that the order was cancelled, then re-ordered and now my ship date is 9/10/04. Seems like an amazing feat considering I never called them to cancel it :p

What's worse is, this is the second time tonight it has happened.

I think at this point I'm going to have to conclude that Apple is definitely having some issues with it's ordering system at this time and it's anyone's guess what they may see as a shipping date by morning. The thing that worries me about something like this is, if their system is spitting out bad data and randomly cancellng and re-ordering products, what's stopping them from filling the initial batch of orders incorrectly based on this same system? Are the orders going to go out correctly or am I going to end up with a $5,000 USB cable instead of a Dual G5 Mac?

As an application programmer, I gotta say, my confidence is a little shaken here.

As a person who worked for that place that rhymes nicely with "Hell" i can tell you that it's pretty much guaranteed not to be a system issue. We did that all the time when ever we made any sort of internal change, from changing certain parts, changing the location the machine would be built, even batch processing. it actually leaves you at the same place in line even if dates change. Of course i'm not certain that it's the same but i'm pretty sure it would be. Just my $.02!

Anyone got real information here?

OK, so it seems that some may get theirs ... I read that someone indicated a charge had been made against their credit card which *should* indicate that shipping is imminent .. Has anyone got a hsipping notice related to the G5?

Well... it does tell you one thing... people are cancling like crazy!

Its friday. So far I count including myself 32 people on this 600+ posting thread that have ordered. Anyone count more?

I was expecting ship date to slip beyond 7-30. I hope it doesn't slip a second time. --E

no G5 yet...

... but my 23 inch aluminium display seems to arrive today, original est. ship date was 8/11.
:)

33 and counting...

Just curious about other Canadian orders out there.

For the record here are my 'stats':

Date ordered: June 30 (via Apple Store online)

Ordered: 2.5DP G5 (Xtras: bluetooth, 1 gig RAM); and 20" display

Original est. ship date: July 30, 2004

Latest Status: received e-mail like everybody else informing me of revised shipping date of August 20.

Shouldn't Apple even throw a bone at us or something for missing the July 30 date? Perhaps some extra ram, a small discount, Apple Store gift certificate, etc. just to keep us faithful happy?? It's just that there are people whose work and livelihood depends on the usage of these computers. I just think we should be compensated in any way for the delay.

Oh man they are so screwed up.

I wish I would get sent an email...

...Ordered on June 9th, so, I should be in the first shipment...

Shipping on or before 8/20? and that is being told to some of the very first orders? That means people placing their order now may very well not receive shipment until September? That would mean that it has been exactly one year since the first PowerMac G5s started shipping and we are still at 2.5Ghz and it seems that Apple is struggling to deliver even on this.

I find it humurous that some people think we will have Dual Core 3Ghz chips in PowerMacs sometime early-mid next year when IBM and Apple are obviously struggling to get single Core 2.5Ghz chips out the door today. I sure hope we see a PowerMac update by Jan 2005 as another year of waiting and another 2-3 months before shipping is outrageous. One year between updates is too long.

Ordered mine June 25th through ADC and its had an est ship date of 7/30 through about 2 am last night. This morning, no emails, but new est ship-date of 9/13!!!!!!!!!! Dangit, I was expecting a delay into August, but September?? Sheesh. Oh well. Not like I have better things to do than wait....

says on apple.com that mine is shipped...but no tracking #...awfully fishy. something is wrong with their system. with all the delays im afraid to believe it actually went out. oredered through ADC....i am picking up on a trend...maybe its not accurate...but of the people who got delayed how many were just standard apple store orders?

nevermind...i do now have a tracking number, but no details. still f'd up...i...like duffman ordered 6/9 early in the day. i dont see how they cant send all those orders. i find this hard to believe they shipped it. i wont believe it until its on my doorstep. c*cksuckers.

sorry, lost count...

34 babies and growing. man...the local hospital delivery room is AWFULLLLLLY empty....

Okay, question... How many of you have gotten this re-revised ship date of August 2nd emailed to you? And if your computer wasn't stock, what did you get CTO?

I ordered June 9th @ 6:15AM PST a CTO with a 250GB Hard Drive, 2GBs of ram, Bluetooth mod, and (-) the 56kmodem.

Still no re-revised ship date email for me.

Apple gets the tracking number from pre-printed labels provided by FedEx. FedEx won't have any tracking info for you until they pick up the shipment from Apple and scan it at one of their facilities. Apple shipped my display on the 26th, but FedEx didn't scan it until the 27th so there were no details until then. Hours after the scan details showed up on the 27th, a new line showed up for the 26th that said, "Customer-Loaded Trailer Picked Up." Apple loads the trailer themselves and then details show after FedEx gets the trailer to the own facility.

I ordered on June 9th too. I want mine! WHINE!!! :(

I too would like to know what's gonna happen to us BTO people. Is 8/02 even still possible? I ordered mine on 6/11 through ADC as a BTO: 250HD, BT, AE.

I would like to know what's going on.
