When announcing that your oder has shipped, or posting an update will you please state the date orderd and if it is stock,CTO, or BTO. Thanks

Ok, here goes:

Order Date 06/13/2004 07:03 PM PST

It's a CTO, with 1 gig RAM, 250 gig hard drive, and bluetooth. Just the regular ATI 9600 video card.

Difference

Ok, our order is different by one day (6/14) and I also added Airport, and ATI 9800. Does not seems to extreem of a difference, however my rep says that my order is definitely is 8/20. My order is a educational order.

I placed my order on the 10th June, stock options except for Bluetooth. CPU only, no monitor or other extras. Got the "delay" email and my estimated date is still 20 August. The phone rep didn't know anything different.

Not happy!

My bet it they're shipping educational orders first, so people will get them in time for "back to school". Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what it looks like.

23 inch display

just on a side note, got my 23 inch alu display just now, est. ship date was 8/11, e-mail that item shipped came yesterday (stupidly got my hopes up for a second thinking it would be the G5) even so I chose standard "free" shipping. this happened quiet a few times to me (for a digital camera for example), ordering free shipping (which usually quotes 5 to 10 days) and getting it fedex overnight. anyone else had this experience?
(I think I never chose a faster, more expensive shipping methode again)

If your 2.5 has shipped, please, also tell us if it was an educational store order. That looks to me like it might be the link for those that are shipping.

I hope so! Hope when I get back in the office later today, that I have a tracking number!
The 23" display has been stting in my room for more than a month now wanting to be used.

Common thread looks like non-stock or memory added for 8/2 or shipping now. When order placed doesn't seem to make much difference if ordered before say July 15.

That doesn't make me happy at all if true.

That remains to be seen. Mine is a EDU BTO order placed minutes after the system was available. I haven't received anything but a swift kick to the arse along side an email saying that my new ship date is on or before 8/20.

You're right, they wouldn't.

I couldn't imagine our IT team waiting that long for a 1u server from Dell.

You're right, they wouldn't. Neither would I, especially a Dell (yuk). HP (compaq) 1u and 2u units are very nice hardware, so I bought a couple of those (which showed up in a week WITH RAID cards) to tide us over and have left the xServe on order. Wish it would have been Apple getting that money (Most of our desktops and all of our laptops are Mac's).

Like I said, it will be VERY interesting to see when it finally does ship :D

Someone in another thread here at macrumors, reports his machine got shipped as well, and he ordered it about a week ago!!!!!

My order is not an educational order. It was, however, ordered through my wife's employer's corporate discount. Basically her boss gets a deal on Apple stuff, about the same discount as the education one, I think. And no, she doesn't work for Apple.

My reseller said that Apple has a habit of getting the CTO's out before the stock, why? How? and if that is true I am not sure but with what is being posted it sort of seems true(ish)

So which one of us is going to call and complain? (I'm i the same boat as you)

THIS IS PREPOSTEROUS!!!!

"Rest assured that we will ship the orders in the order that they are received."

DOES APPLE CARE ABOUT ITS CUSTOMERS ENOUGH TO TELL THE TRUTH?

If mine doesn't ship today another firey email will be sent off to Apple.

Maybe the EDU orders, like mine, are being shipped last. (Even though I ordered 6/9)

Come on 8/2 email....I'm waiting...and now I'm angry...

Doubtfull, mine is an education order, September 20th is the date I have now.

edit1: i have a ATI 9600 card
edit2: ordered 6/17/04

Mine shipped today; it was an edu order.

I ordered it on june 16th, it was BTO:

dual 2.5 Ghz
1G Ram
(removed the modem)
r9600xt
160G HD
(no other accessories)

WOOT.

Totally confused

Ok, so last night before I went to bed my order status showed that my order would arrive on 9/10/04. It flipped from that back to 7/30/04 numerous times. I originally placed the order on 6/19 and what is below is STILL the current config:

Dualie G5 2.5
1 gig of RAM
9800XT vid card
160 gig SATA hard drive
20" monitor (older design, received it on 6/22)
Applecare plan (received it on 6/23)

plus all the other stock stuff that one of these machines come with.

So I check my status when I come into work this morning and low and behold I see a FedEx tracking number, but when I go to use it, the FedEx system says that "It hasn't been scanned into the system yet". So from experience I know that it takes a few hours for this to update. So I wait, just came back from lunch and go to my order status to lookup the tracking number and not only has it completely disappeared, my status has gone back to 9/10/04!

I think it may be time for me to consider some other options.

Where are you sending your fiery email? I'd like to share some thoughts with Apple too. Especially if it's true that someone who only ordered a week ago got a shipment notice. Maybe it's location. Brykken and I are both in Georgia. Maybe they aren't shipping to this side of the mighty Mississippi. I'm ready to start cussing now too.

If this stuff is really happening, the "apologetic" email is a total freakin' lie. "Fulfill all orders in the order they were received," my a--. I've been in Customer Service before, and I'm not inclined to call and yell at a CSR. My experience is that the CSRs are always the last to know, and they're only telling us what they've been told to tell us. They don't really have a choice if they want to keep their jobs.

Read your 'shipping' email thoroughly. It says orders shipped on a Friday won't be trackable on FedEx's site until Monday:

> For orders shipped Monday through Thursday tracking
> information will be available on the carrier sites 12 to 24 hours
> after shipping.
> For orders shipped Friday through Sunday tracking
> information will be available on the carrier sites by the following
> Monday evening.

And from what I've heard from the Apple rep last night, ignore what the website is telling you. If you got an email saying your order shipped, I'm pretty sure it did.

UPDATE: My order is now tracking on the FedEx website. Try your tracking number now and tell me if it's working.

I just got off the phone with someone higher up in the Apple Corp. food chain. My 9/20 date is not a typo... He is going to try to get it bumped up but is not sure if he'd be able to. My order was placed 6/17, you would think it would be higher up in the que than 9/20. I was hoping he'd tell me that the 9 was suposed to be an 8...

I worked as a CSR as well. It's true that they probably aren't lying because they probably don't know. That's also why I am inclined NOT to call. It doesn't seem that it would do much good.

I agree that if people are TRUELY getting their systems shipped then Apple lied to me when they said they were shipping in the order they were recieved. And if people get there machines who ordered weeks after I did (i'm glad for them) then I am royal pissed. Not that it matters.

It seems now more than ever that they will "get here when they get here."

My g5 is shipping! But...

Hey guys (and gals),

My Edu BTO G5 shipped today. Yesterday my shipping date switched to 9/10, then 8/02, then confimation today.

I thought everything was peachy until I saw a change in price on my order. Like many others, my G5 order had been cancelled and reordered by apple because of a line order change, or something. The new order is listed at $100 less than my original order. I called apple and they had no idea. Strange happenings. Any ideas? Apple just told me to wait until I get my computer and see what's in the box. I hope they didn't forget to install one of the processors.

Good luck to all you early-birds like myself who ordered in June. It'll come soon, I'm sure. My order was saying 9/10 before just shipping.

Has anybody with a CTO and ship date of 8/02 received any update, or shipment notification???

This is gonna be a long weekend.
