Dual 2.5GHz PowerMacs Shipping

So I check my status when I come into work this morning and low and behold I see a FedEx tracking number, but when I go to use it, the FedEx system says that "It hasn't been scanned into the system yet". So from experience I know that it takes a few hours for this to update. So I wait, just came back from lunch and go to my order status to lookup the tracking number and not only has it completely disappeared, my status has gone back to 9/10/04!

I think it may be time for me to consider some other options.

I'd cry, but before you consider other options, give it a few days, I'm thinking that their site is not to be trusted at the moment.
 
It looks like all the shipped systems have 9600 cards in them.

Anyone with a 9800 (128MB or 256MB) ship yet?
 
Word from MacMall

My sales contact there just put it to me this way on the phone.:
Macmall is not getting their big order of 1200 units until (estimate mind you) Aug. 6th. Yes a few machines have trickled into the warehouse, today or yesterday. He shows "two" in there today. He candidly said this is the game Apple plays to say they have "shipped" on the day they said they would, as they never makes promises about numbers for that first ship date. As to who's geting those "two", today, who knows? I certainly didn't demand it should be me or I'm "caneceling my order" and other "hmmph" reactions. Christ, most of us have been waiting to order this machine since last Dec. Another week or two should not blow up most people's world.

Needless to say this delivery stuff fits w/ apples new model history, at least that's what the more dedicated "geeky"(no offense meant) history buffs, here, are saying. and this 2.5 ghz issue seems pretty mild. At least we have here to whine w/ the like minded. ;)

G5 names

I've noticed that a number of you were considering naming your new boxes "Zaphod", after the totally cool and not asinine Zaphod Beeblebrox.

A clip from aqua teen hunger force comes to mind:

Frylock: Yes. What, is something wrong with it?

WOAH! I just got off the phone with apple. My 2.5 stock should ship in a few of hours!!!

Maybe me! Mine still says 8/20 and I haven't got an email from apple yet.
But the sales rep says I should get one soon and my order is going out!!!

ATI 9800

Of all the lucky folks today is there any of you that has a video card other than stock ati 9600? such as a 9800XT?

I was thinking or seriously naming this machine after the badist villian of all time... Ignignokt . I would have named it after err, that name just sucks. another idea would be Ol' Drippy... but... maybe...

What was the klingon word frylock called it anyways? that would make an excellent name figureing i named my last two machines after star trek (Q and Locutus)

i have the 9800xt and it went out this morning. the tracking info is updating now...i was hesitant to believe it all, and knowing my luck it wont work when i get it. god does indeed hate me...although i believe i can stop drowing babies...but i was just having so much fun.
 
I ordered mine on 6/12.. Last night my apple account showed some action and this morning it was a temp authorization again. Why do they do this to me!!!

My order was with the EDU store with the stock 9600XT. All I added was Bluetooth.

The only good news is, I finaly got the Motorola v710. I guess that will get me through the weekend.
 
If Apple ships ANYTHING they will boast about it on there website. You will see that new ipod ad become old news and replace it with a G5 2.5 Now shipping ad.
We will all be able to look back on this one day and say.. "I'm glad that's over" but until then, we can all just dream about having one.

Nothing has shipped... Apple will let us know right before they do.

And from what I've heard from the Apple rep last night, ignore what the website is telling you. If you got an email saying your order shipped, I'm pretty sure it did.

UPDATE: My order is now tracking on the FedEx website. Try your tracking number now and tell me if it's working.

Just checked the tracking number again, seems to be working fine. My order is now trackable and appears to be on it's way. I was at the mercy of the order status screen here at work because I don't have access to my home email account and couldn't check the messages. I agree with the general policy of ignoring the status screen and just go on what the emails are saying. Seems they have some glitches in the order status system right now.

Also, someone on these boards was asking about the 9800XT and if anyone's order shipped with it yet. My order included the 9800XT vid card, so they are going out.

Just got off the phone, and still no change for me. (ordered 6/14 EDU, BTO 9800XT, 250gb, 2gig ram, BT) Just the email last night saying 8/30. The Apple rep did say that it is stating to look like things will pickup quickly in the next few days, and I should check email later today. I told him I know someone who ordered 2.5 EDU the same day I did and they have a 8/2 delivery date. He said "check your email later today, that system could have a different line item than yours"

From Sept 13th to today!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A day or so I got the same email you guys got about my order being delayed. According to my order status yesterday my expected ship date was 9/13. I was checking Apple's site today thinking about changing my order to a dual 2.0 machine and decided to look at my order status. It now shows shipped with a Fedex tracking number. Currently my G5 is in Shenzhen China. I have no idea when to expect it, but I'm going to enjoy clicking Refresh all weekend.

Oh, does it glow blue like the ones announced on the (most likely fake) MOSR (http://macosrumors.blogspot.com/) site? I was debating whether to order the dual 2.5 or wait for the giant 4-handled, blue, glowing, quad systems. I decided the 2.5 will have to do for now (a shame about the lacerations on Toby's big toe). ;)
 
I just got off the phone with apple customer disservice and they told me absolutely NOTHING! I mean seriously, they read me the email and that was that. I insisted that I speak with a supervisor and she told me even LESS than the CSR! I am disgusted with Apple customer service right now.

After 2 1/2 hours on the phone I know nothing more than I did before I called.
