Nothing has shipped... Apple will let us know right before they do.
Duff-Man says....your extreme negativity - telling people nothing has shipped, and that even if they do they'll probably all be lemons etc etc has gotten pretty tired. It is obvious that these computers *are* shipping despite your wish that they don't so you can keep on complaining.....oh yeah!

Maybe me! Mine still says 8/20 and I haven't got an email from apple yet.
But the sales rep says I should get one soon and my order is going out!!!

woooooohooooooo

I was told the same thing and my order still says 8/20 yet. No email yet either. The guy on the phone said my unit was on the dock, with my name on it, waiting for FedEX to pick it up. I don't know how he knew that. I think he was just trying to pacify me.

BTW..call this number to check on your order. 1-877-422-5368

Oh, the CSR did tell me that some systems have in fact shipped. So they are out there now. I guess it'll be nice to see theirs.... I just wish I could see MINE! lol

I just received an e-mail that my ESD 8/20 is now ESD 8/9. That's better. Now, I expect the shipping confirmation within the next 3 hours.

Is this enough proof?

My ship date got moved up.

Like many, my order was to ship today, then it got moved to 8/20. Today, I got an email saying mine should ship 8/9. :D

So that's cool; we'll see what happens. (Stats: edu discount, ordered it on 6/21, stock except for radeon 9800xt). Hang in there, everyone... it seems that Apple is pulling through; I bet more machines will ship earlier than we've been fearing!

ordered 6/13

still getting nothing

I'm just happy to hear that they started shipping. Hopefully the resellers will be taking shipments in the next few weeks. It's starting to get exciting!

Is the number Apple's or Fedex's?

Who still hasn't had their powermac ship and how do you find out if it will? I still am at "open" despite ordering on 6/9 and I would really like to find out if my computer exists and will ship.

How are you guys getting all this information? When I called, I talked to a lvl 1 and then a supervisor and both told me that they couldn't tell me anything! They said they have no way to see into the line and don't know any specifics about any particular computer. This came after 2 1/2 hours on the phone talking to a supervisor!

Bah! I am pissed.

So what should I ask if I call? What is the procedure? How did you get your info?

I just got off the phone with apple (again, hehe) and they said that my 2.5 will ship within 24 hours (basically they are waiting for FedEx to pick it up) and then I'll get an email with the tracking number and stuff.

1. Call this number: 1-800-780-5009 (EDU number)
2. Press 2
3. Enter your web order number without the "W"
4. Wait 5-10 minutes
5. Give your web order again
6. Give your name and billing address
7. Ask for the lastest info on your order
8. Rejoices if it is good news

I was told the same thing. FWIW...I received my shipping email 2 days AFTER I received my first G5 by FedEx. So just because you haven’t got an email lately or your order still says shipping 8/20, that doesn’t mean you won't see your G5 next week. :)

THINK POSITIVE

I love you guys... :D (I hope I'm in the same boat as you)

Who told you that? What did you ask?

Have you gotten an email rerevising the ship date or anything yet?

No, nothing...

I just called the education people and they knew nothing about my G5. They said all they know is what is on my order status...

If I call Apple Billing will they tell me the same thing? Are they more "in the know?"

I hope I don't get left out to dry when I ordered on 6/9 while others who ordered MUCH later get theirs first... :(

It came! Timing couldn't be worse!

Just as I got home from picking my daughter up at daycamp to finish packing for my weekend getaway with the fam damily, I notice this behemoth sitting in the common area just outside my condo door. Considering that I placed my preorder elatively late (early june), I thought it was safe to leave for four or five days without concern. So I set my daughter down to run amok and proceed to drag the thing in "just to make sure it's intact". The computer itself runs great, but Apple screwed up and shipped me an Nvidia 6800 even though I ordered a 9800 XT for my 17" studio display (planning to wait for Ati's x800 and hand down the xt to my nephew when that came out). Hoping I got a freebie, I checked the packing slip and sure enough, they docked me the extra 200 and some odd dollars. Anyway, I used the "mass exodus out of Boston due to the democratic convention causing miserable traffic" excuse to stall a few hours in order to putz around a bit, and everyone's patience has worn thin. I don't think my daughter really appreciate the ~90fps we're getting in Shrek 2. We'll have to break this baby in after the weekend. Here are some first impressions:
1) Subjectively much faster. I'm not really into first person shooters, but Battlefield 1942 and Halo both average well over 60 frames per second with everything maxed at 1280x1024. I suspect this is partly due to OS X 10.3.5
2) Cinebench was expectedly faster. I didn't dare fire up Maya for fear of having to sleep on the couch.
3) exceedingly quiet
4) Nothing else special. After more than an hour of playing around, I'm already bored again and want to buy something else. Don't know what.

I hope everyone else here receives an immaculate and functioning unit in a similarly timely fashion (if not in an especially convenient or appropriate one - the Fedex guy who dropped the box should get fired).

Cheers

i don't know if this was a joke and you were hoping that we'd catch it, or if you deliberately tried to fool us.

Yeah, I'm concerned about this too.

I got a re-revised ship date today (from 8/20 to 8/9). Online still shows 8/20, so I'm expecting my shipment confirmation or tracking number any time now.
