Hey man. Ours are probably waiting with everyone elses to be shipped tonight or early tomorrow. There is no reason why we should be left out and if we are, you better believe I will be asking for a discount/free overnite shipping.

Just to wind us up as a little joke. It's sad, but you see it all the time on unmoderated boards like this.
I've seen three other posts from people who supposedly had seen a new 2.5 but but coincidentally all didn't have time to check it out.
Sigh - This has been quite a disappointing couple of days - Ordered on June 11, CTO non-edu and I'm stuck at Aug 20. Like many, I've been waiting since January for this one and have been systematically updating my whole system in preparation.
Purchases this year include:
Airport card for Dual 533 G4
40 gig iPod
Airport extreme base station (snow airport base station for sale anyone?)
Airport extreme card (in box waiting for G5)
Airport express base station (snagged one today at CompUSA)
New Uniden 5.4 GHz cordless phones
and I'm waiting on the 2.5 G5, the 20" Alum display, and I even had them add Final Cut express 2 considering the new $200.00 off promotion.
I've been patient, I've been good. In the words of Bill Murray - I'm doing the work - I'm taking the baby steps; Gimmee gimmee gimmee... I need, I need, I need.
Through all however, I have appreciated the comments from all here as it has kept things exciting nonetheless.

I'll wait and give them a call later next week if i have not heard from him by then. All along I have figured it would be mid-late august before i received the thing so I try anbd stay calm for a few more weeks....oh Yeah!

Duff-Man says...I had actually thought of ordering from apple and ditching the superdrive in favour of the combo - when I bought my dual 800 I "downgraded" to the cdrw - never missed the superdrive yet...but this time I got a decent deal from the reseller as i was buying some extra ram and a new midi interface, and the difference in price is not what it was back then either - saved me about $350cdn before....oh yeah!edgarj said:

Ok, latest update. Just got off the phone with Apple, and here's what I've learned.
The guy admittedly didn't have ALL the answers we'd like but I did learn a thing or two.
Evidently too many people were sent delay emails, which is why people like me and many of you are receiving follow-ups like the one I posted above. Not all of the follow up emails have been sent, which means that just b/c you haven't yet received an email yet saying you're in luck and your system is going to ship on Aug. 2nd, you STILL MIGHT.
He also told me to IGNORE ANY STATUS MESSAGES ON THE APPLE SITE, as they aren't updated correctly yet and will just confuse you. Go by the emails they send out.
Other than that, I have no idea what's going on, but as always will keep you all posted when I learn more.

Well now I'm completely confused. I got the original 8/20 e-mail on Thursday. I got an 8/09 revision last night (I almost feel guilty about that too since I ordered kind of recently. My apologies to the earlier adopters with better video cards). And this morning I get an e-mail saying a delay might jeopardize my 8/09 date but then again might not, and it didn't even bother to offer a re-revised shipping date.
It's also odd that all the Apple spokespeople seem to be telling us to disregard the order status page and only go by what the e-mails say, while the e-mails all suggest we keep tabs on our orders by visiting the Apple status page.
I'm feeling dizzy.
P.S. Anyone know what "we have made changes to a line item on your order so that we might expedite it. The modification to the line item did not affect the configuration or the price of your computer" actually refers to?

I was going to buy a book to read to keep me amused during the summer but Apple and this forum have created something far more fun, interesting, frustrating but it sure feels good to be in the same boat as most people here, even though that boat is the wrong one at the moment ..

Being realistic, I don't expect mine for a few weeks since I ordered mine on 7/15 through a reseller. Nevertheless, I look forward to reading first impressions that we, the remaining minions, for whom the waiting persists, may share in your joy. Please keep us posted. Forget us not, though we dwell in the sulphur pits of backorder purgatory. Throw us a bone dudes.

This is quite possibly one of the saddest threads to be found on the internet; people waking up in the middle of the night with shipment nightmare and getting blueballed by Apple. Are you afraid you won't go through puberty before school starts again? I mean, I had your anxiety back on Christmas eve of 1984 when I had total insomnia due to too much hot cocoa and the knowledge of a brand new IBM PC w/128k and one floppy drive sitting under the tree. But I was 11 years old. I believe most of you are old enough to have learned how not to service your anxiety.

At first it looked like EDU orders got fulfilled faster .... but rest assure, I have a Jul 2 CTO EDU order ... all standard (yes a 9600xt) except for the bluetooth w/ wireless key/mouse and still a f@!$ 8/20 delivery date .... mmm, should I postpone my vacation trip to wait for the machine?
