Hopefully they all won't get held up at customs. Anyone here remember the original 12" iBook fiasco? All those nice little 'chiclets' got held up at customs in Alaska for a few days. Ah the joys of bleeding edge! ;)

How do you find this information?

What was your order status before it shipped?

Holy crap. I just checked my order status. The order I had placed on 6/11 of a CTO 2.5 with ATI 9600 has been "updated". FROM 8/02 to 9/03!!

WTF!!! An EXTRA MONTH??!!

Anybody else get a 9/03 ship date to have it changed to something else?

Please, if it won't get here for another month, Apple "can kiss the fattest part of my ass" and I am gonna cancel this...

I was told not to go by the Order Status page or emails. I called Apple and got confirmation that it was shipped today. Try calling them and see what they say. Yours is probably on the way already. :)

BTW...I just ordered a stock unit.

Which number are you calling? 1-800-MY-APPLE or something else?

Yea, but weren't you originally a 7/30 order? i was ALWAYS an 8/02 order. So i guess I'm in some different class. I'll call tommorow, but you're only setting me up for a letdown...

BTW, which number should I call for both the best update, and for somebody to complain to if I won't see this thing for another month?

Yes, and I also called 1-877-422-5368. That's Apple billing department. You might have better luck calling that number because they are the ones that are on top of the order to make sure it's paid for before it's shipped. :)

Where is Shenzen, CN? CN? What state (country?) is that?

(I know I could look it up, but I need the posts [insert devilish smile followed by "MUUUHHAAAHHA"] :D)

Soire, do you have a 6800 card in your order? If yes, I think it's normal, cuase they won't be shipping until late august, but if no, then you better call apple

I believe China. Though I'm not much good at Geography...

Am I the only one still with a ship date of "on or before 30th July"?

UK order on 15th June
BTO: removed modem, added Bluetooth

Im no mathematician, but I believe that this is either

a) impossible

b) due in about a years time

c) a completely disorganised mess

Interestingly, when I spoke with a rep on the phone on the 29th, I was categorically told and told again that the orders were being fulfilled in the order that they were received for the whole world, because, I quote "all 2.5 G5s are manufactured in Cork, Ireland."

So, to summarise, the inconstancies of what is being told around the world so far amount to either:

a) People with later orders receiving shipping notification before earlier orders. - OR - The rep was talking bollocks.

b) Tracking numbers claim shipments from 'Shenzen, CN' (unless someone can confirm that Shenzen is actually a place in Ireland?) - OR - The rep was talking bollocks.

And finally, the emails that contradict themselves, the online status page and the phone reps all amount to a bit of a farce in my opinion.

My humble guess is that these poor reps haven't got a clue what's going on, and hove been told very little, and so are desperately trying to pacify angry people who, quite reasonably, want answers.

We appear to be in a bit of a muddle don't we...

Where's Shenzen

Shenzen is in the same Province as Hong Kong, in fact it's right above Hong Kong. I think the company there is owned by a Taiwan Company, may be
wrong?

New IBM PC

This is quite possibly one of the saddest threads to be found on the internet; people waking up in the middle of the night with shipment nightmare and getting blueballed by Apple. Are you afraid you won't go through puberty before school starts again? I mean, I had your anxiety back on Christmas eve of 1984 when I had total insomnia due to too much hot cocoa and the knowledge of a brand new IBM PC w/128k and one floppy drive sitting under the tree. But I was 11 years old. I believe most of you are old enough to have learned how not to service your anxiety.

Was that an IBM PC/jr? We got one of those in '84 when I was a kid too. Thought it was "rad."

Exactly right. The packages go from Shenzen and then leave China from Shang Hai. That's how it always is for BTOs...

Is that a free call?

No, it was a regular IBM PC. Since there wasn't much software available back then, and what there was my parents wouldn't buy me (understandable from an economical standpoint considering the five grand outlay for hardware), I had to content myself with the Basic and fooling around with debug and other utilities on the DOS 2.0 Disk.

The IBM pc jr's at school had Basic in ROM, but "cartridge basic" instead, which lacked many of the commands. The Jr. did support ega-like graphics, however, while I had only an amber monitor.

Sounds like it's ready to ship if it hasn't already. I bet you will see it this week. :)

I had a feeling you would say that. But my usually large amount of optimism is beginning to run low. :(

It may be that they are delaying my order because of the combo drive. But, that is, of course, pure speculation. It is all I have at this point.
