So, I'm going to buy a nice big hard disk and wait until the new year now ... what the hell - I'm still happy with my powerbook!

You'll be laughing at the rest of us with 2.5s when you're sitting behind your dual core 3.0 with pci express next year! Hope the wait isn't too bad.

Don't be too sad, if you still want one, I bet you can pick one up at a reseller not too long from today, and still be very happy!

I'll be buying my next machine from stock, from the 'Bricks and Mortar' Apple Store on Regent Street in London!

Great! that's not too far from belgium, and I would die to visit a real apple store, so I'll hop in some day :)

like some well known forum guy would say "oh yeah!" ;) ;)

So where are all those people wich powermacs shipped???

no word yet?????

weird.. very weird...

Mine is sheduled for august 5th, but I honestly don't believe it because they have draged me from july 16th to 19th to 25th to 28th to 29th and then to... yep.... August 5th.. Note that I buy straight from a distributer..

and they don't have any clue when they arrive..

I had the same story with my new 23" display wich suddenly arrived last friday while sceduled for august 4th.. (brilliant display however) for now, I hook it up to my powerbook...

Don't mean to rub things in but..

If anybody who's had their order ship is still reading this thread; has anyone actually had their machine leave Shenzhen, China yet? My box shipped on 7/30, but it looks like it missed the cutoff time on that day and that fedex sat on it over the weekend

http://www.fedex.com/cgi-bin/tracki...ode=us&mps=y&ascend_header=1&imageField=Track

So if my situation is truly the best case scenario as far as early delivery (and all indications are that it is), then it looks like nobody is going to be opening a G5 2.5 box until tuesday at least, but more likely wednesday or thursday.

EDIT: Can people do bad things with my tracking number? Should I remove it? I want others to be able to follow its progress, but not screw it up in any way. Let me know if something bad could happen

While I'm sure it won't help, have you tried calling the ADC store for some information? I'd be curious to hear what they have to say.

All ADC can say is that the ADC and business stores "works differently" from the consumer store. They wouldn't tell me if the developer orders have lower priority.

Has anyone else tried calling ADC and gotten more information? Their number is 800-793-9378. Option 3 at the main menu.

Same here. My FedEx tracking still shows its in Shenzhen with the same status as yours. Hopefully its just going thru the usual Customs checking.

My experience last week with FedEx shipping my 20" display, was that there was no change in status after leaving the origin location until the end of the 2nd day. It's a long flight from China to (I'm assuming) the US, so I'd bet you won't see it scanned at another FedEx facility for about 48 hours give or take.

[edit] Well, I just looked at your status page. It really looks like it's just sitting there and they keep scanning it. I don't know what the heck they're doing. I hope they get it together soon though, 'cause mine is sitting there too.

Mine reads the same as yours. I bet they will all leave on the same plane today. I wish I knew the flight number. I would track the plane! I expect it to be here wednesday or thursday. :)

yeah.. ehm.. I changed the preferred time of delivery to "when the guy's not home" and activated a protocol that "if the guy's not home, the order will be returned to apple." PLUS with my hacker experience, I changed the order back to "pay on delivery" so in case you would be home, you should pay it again to get it!..

LOL! the last one would be a real real real torture!!.. that shiny box right in front of you! and the guy takes it back with him unless you pay...

I'm surprised that you would want to wait almost another year to purchase your Mac. Having the ability to customize a great option. Those that are getting there's now will have the pleasure of enjoyment of a very powerful machine.

I certainly don't want to get your hopes up, but something similar happened to me with my recent 15" PowerBook purchase. I paid for expedited shipping (2-3 day) which would've put it at my door in New Jersey on Monday, June 28th. It was a BTO coming from China and the tracking info said that it was received after the cutoff time. Despite that, FedEx showed up early with my PowerBook first thing in the morning on Friday, the 25th. I was really surprised, especially considering that the tracking info that same morning still said it was scheduled for delivery on Monday, the 28th. Really bizarre in my world since most my mail-order experiences are less than great. Anyhow, there might not be cause to get overly concerned with the "received after cutoff" comment, but your mileage may vary.

I am now waiting for my DP2.5 G5 with all of you. I ordered from MacMall and the guy says their shipment is supposed to arrive on August 6th. As much as I want to be optimistic, I am a bit doubtful that will happen.

thx for the link, we all feel a little bit owner of that package now ;);)

that page is gonna get a lot of hits from now till arrival :D

ADC status recheck

Ok.....just rechecked my ADC order status and I'm back to 9/13. Dangit! It'll probably change AGAIN soon anyway, so I s'pose I shouldn't get worked up about it now. :) Still no emails.

I know what you are saying, but even without the latest problems with my order, I just don't enjoy this waiting game any more! And when I sat and thought about it, I decided that, other than Garage Band, I can probably get by for another 9 months (I'll hope and pray for a new machine being in the store by March/April 2005!)

Given the PowerMac's recent release history, I would be very surprised if you were able to get your hands on anything newer than the 2.5 til at least next summer.

I just got off the phone with a contact of mine at FedEx. The plane, loaded with 500 Apple G5s from China, landed this afternoon at their Memphis hub. They are being uloaded as I speak. Customs has cleared them and some people might see them as early as tomorrow he told me. How do you like them Apples? (pardon the pun) :)

Ooh! That's great news. Thanks for the inside info. Certainly would cheer people like me. :p

Hey, two observations...

It seems that just prior to shipping, order status seems to be getting bumped back online. Maybe this is due to the fact that they cancel and reorder with some change to expedite. So if yours gets bumped back all of a sudden it could mean it's about to ship (just a little bit counterintuitive).

The other thing is, I wouldn't take the tracking too seriously...I've had things in the states arrive before the tracking gets updated. I wouldn't be surprised if those have left Shenzhen already.

By the way, I'm still stuck 8/20 as far as I know. I hope I get bumped to Sept. soon!

Since my shipping notice didn't come through until 5:30 AM ET this morning, I bet mine wasn't on that plane, but I'm still hoping. How long a flight is that? Does the FedEx plane get to fly faster than commercial passenger flights? I would think so.

[edit] My G5 was only 3 hours and 20 minutes behind jeffdr's being scanned as "Leaving FedEx Origin Location." Maybe that means mine was one of the last one's loaded on the plane. Oh God please, let it be so!

Heh, probably not, but I bought a digital camera recently and I'll post pics on this forum as soon as I get the thing in my door.
