That would be fantastic. It's quite possible too, but I am afraid of getting my hope up just to be let down. :(

Ditto. There is no good reason why we should be left out of the first batch. Hopefully we will see our shipping notices from Cordova tomorrow. (I'm sure they have two combo drives, one for each of us!) :D

I'm pulling for ya, guys. If it's any consolation, I'm still waiting for any confirmation at all that my G5 has left China. None yet.

You just watch. Ours will ship from Cordova tomorrow and we'll have ours before you do! HA!

(FAT CAHNCE)

 :p

[edit] Does anyone have a shipping status that indicates anything has actually left China? The 2.5 G5s are probably all in a big blazing pile in Tiananmen Square!

That's good news. Looks like yours could arrive tomorrow, especially since it's already left Anchorage. I'd bet it gets scanned in Memphis soon, but maybe there's another hub for FedEx farther north. It would certainly help your chances if there were. Memphis is darn near perfect for me but I don't have a US scan yet. So either mine is on another plane or in the middle of a shrink-wrapped pallet. Hoping for the latter, but each pallet probably has a barcoded list on the outside of it that shows everything that's on it. Mine's probably farther behind somewhere.

I'm still just as excited and tense as we all were back on July 13th when we first started following this "Dual 2.5 PowerMacs Shipping" thread. When will it end?

Hotwire, those laptops from that site are sweet! Do you guys really make them all yourself? That's very cool. :)

You mean the Portacore line? (Sorry to be off topic, he started it ;) )

Yeah, I make them myself. (Sole employee :D ) I just wish I could make Macs!

You said it jdhuskey. When will it end? I'm so freakin' tense that my finger has developed a twitch for hitting the reload button on the FedEx site. So when this is all over, can we all sue for carpal tunnel?

They are VERY nice. They look much better than any PC laptop I can think of, to be honest. The prices are terrific as well! Throw in an ATi Mobility Radeon 9700 or 9800 on the Portacore 3000 and 5000 and you have some great machines there. You do that (make sure that ram is dedicated, not shared) and I can get you some customers in my area. ;)

Unfortunately, I can't get a Mobility Radeon 9700/9800. I get barebones systems from a distributer, and add CPU/RAM/HDD. Other than that, I can't do a whole lot of customization :( . However, I can tell you I have a friend who has torture tested his 1000 (Unreal Tournament, etc.) and he says he gets fine frame rates.

I'm glad to see AK on other folks tracking page, I'm still stuck in China.

In the status column of the last two scans, mine has "Package status". I can see some guy working in a warehouse. He scans a box. He gets a prompt on a screen "Enter package status:". He types "Package status" and presses enter. I wonder if he is the same guy who installed the liquid cooling?

LOL--I have been wondering what was up with this "package status" thing. I think I like your explanation and will assume my G5 is in Alaska as well.

Mine too!

I've heard of a "slow boat to China" before - How'd it get turned around to be a slow FedEx from China?

Get it off the ground for Chrissake!!!

Back from Trip

I just returned from a trip where I had no access to this board ( or email). I was thinking that surely I would have a tracking number, or status "shipped", nothing!! Not a single word from apple. Is there something I have missed? Why has my unit not shipped, and others after me have?

Have you checked your credit card?

I have just traced my roots and found Chinese blood in me. I have also received word from my long lost relatives in Shenzhen who works with FedEx that the person who enters the package status as "package status" is in fact holding two jobs and he is the same guy installing the liquid cooling in all 2.5 G5s. Doh!

I'm retiring for the day and will be back [complaining] tomorrow on why my unit is still stuck in China for day 4.

Hey, got room for one more in that boat? Yep, you guessed it, my Mac is stuck in China as well. At this point I'm thinking about calling them and having all the FedEx workers there in that facility sign my Mac box. If I'm gonna wait, I might as well get something out of the deal :p

I'm in Anchorage, myself.

Maybe I can work out which crates contain the Powermacs, and just charge y'all a little passing through Alaska tax? :D

I hope they don't send mine on to Memphis and then back or something retarded like that. Oh, wait, this is FedEx, not Continental airlines or some such...

Mine is "stuck" in China as well. Geez, I'm glad to be watching a tracking number instead of waiting to get one... count our blessings!
