I ordered a 2.5DPG5/512MB/160/SD/R9800XT/BT/Airport Extreme on June 9 and I have a July 20 date. Like you, mine hasn't shipped. The only thing I can think of, is the R9800XT in my case is delaying the order, but I know a person that got his DP2.0 with a R9800XT.
 
Well, I'm one of the guys with a 8/20 ship, but as I have posted here before, I could care less.

Sure I want my Mac, but I am FAR more concerned with quality since I just dropped 6 grand, and I want this Mac to last me a long time.

So I am excited that they are shipping to some customers for no other reason than to read the reviews.

(My Mac and 23" display are coming when I am holiday, so I hope they don't get nicked at the office. :)

Congrats to everyone who are getting their Macs today. This is very exciting.

Finally, I would just like to say Duffman rules. Best poster on any board anywhere.

hotwire's computer is showing that it got delivered, he is probably setting it up and taking pics as I type.

I agree! I talked with a Rep again this morning, still 8/20. He could not tell me anything. I asked about why others are getting there units before me though I oderd before them? The response was "I am not sure, perhaps they orderd stock units or there is a hold up on something like bluetooth or another component"

I have sent an email to the rep that I orderd with. Hopfully she can shed some light on the matter. I am gettin verry impatient! It would be OK if it truely was shipping in order recieved, but that is not the case. The lack of information from Apple as to why or what is going on is amazing. Still nothing on there web site about G5 2.5 "now shipping".

Confused Apple customer!!

You're right. No wonder hotwire has suddenly gone silent. Where are you? Could it be he fainted from excitement just by holding the box? What happens if he starts opening it...oh gosh!
 
Cinebench scores

I thought it might be worth pointing out that a Dual 970fx G5 is 15.46% faster, MHz for MHz, than a Dual Xeon at Cinebench. In fact, the dual 2.5GHz was only 3.5% slower at the Cinebench score than the dual 3.06 GHz Xeon:

Now this is not a good measure of overall system snappiness or overall system speed, but for what I do (and I suspect a lot of you) this is an excellent indicator of where the Mac is in overall performance. Cinebench is pretty comprehensive.

I hope he didn't try to hold the box. I think those things weigh over 100lbs! That may be why we haven't heard from him. He's stuck under his new G5!

Congratulations! For a moment you got us all scared. Ha ha, I can imagine the bandwidth we will all be contributing to your .mac allocation once the pictures are up.

Please do post: OS X version number (I'm curious if they did ship it with 10.3.5) and build number

Just got off the phone with Apple and my 2.5, (est. ship date: Today!)
Is coming from fullerton CA. not China!

Guy from apple said "They are shipping from multiple locations."
also, he said that e-mails notifications are sent within 12 hours of the package shipping.

How did you know to call? Credit card charged or email or something? Or did you just use your spidey sense?

This could be good news for those of us who haven't been emailed yet. Maybe our wait will be shorter too! :D

I'm typing this on my new Dual 2.5Ghz G5. The thing is whisper quiet, so far. However, I don't think the fans have kicked in yet, so I'll have to install FCP and try that out, see how loud it gets.

No leaking coolant, so nothing to worry about there. :D ;)

Right now I'm just messing around with iLife '04 and sitting answering questions...fire 'em at me!

In a few minutes I'll start installing all my software--Studio MX, Final Cut, Office...

I am one happy camper. :D

Sweet! And the photo with the FedEx guy was hilarious. Seeing the pictures was just like looking at porn...you know. From the box to opening, I was thinking...take it out, take it out! Then the pictures go closer and closer...damn I almost hit my forehead on my screen.

Questions:

1. OS X version and build number
2. Bluetooth and AE antenna? Did you order both? If so how does it look like?
3. Any noise you hear from the liquid cooling pump?

First off, you're the man. Congrats.

Questions based on G5 issues I have read about:

1. Impressions of speed. Is it noticably snappier?
2. Sound, sound, sound? How quiet is this sucker?
3. Can you put it to sleep and does it wake up again?

That's all I can think of for now. Any general impressions would be appreciated.

I'd be grateful if you ran both versions of Cinebench 2003 for us - the standard AND the newer optimised versions so we could get a clear idea of how fast it really goes as well as how fast it will go when software is re-written!!?
