G5-Optimized Version Benchmarks:

****************************************************

Okay this looks good!. Still a bit slower then the preproduction G5 but not bad at all! If possible: could you submit your results (both runs) on: http://www.3dfluff.com/mash/cbdual.php (there is a link on top of that page for submitting). No more questions your honor. (thanks you very much)

@macnabbit:

I have to admit you are right. Strange and confusing that they gave both versions the same 2003v1 header.

I have a question. How come more of you are not po'd. I mean isntn it obvious that Apple is shipping out of order??? EVeryone needs to sign the petition:
http://www.petitiononline.com/Apple_G5/petition.html

I mean this is getting ridiculous.

I mean for me.. .I received the original 8/20 email, and then the follow up email for mistake should be shipping 8/2 and then nothing.

Yesterday, I spoke to Apple Store supervisor, She asked me to forward her the email about 8/2 she reviewed it contacted whomever and said sorry for the mistake and you order will be elevated in status. But yet not idea when I would get it. I mean come on is this anyway to treat customers?

I am extremely pissed off of course!! - I am going via a reseller too, who has basically said 'don't bother me, I know nothing, it will arrive when it arrives!' - how frustrating is that do you think!!?? - I have no way of knowing where mine is - if it has been shipped, when it will arrive, and I can't keep pestering him to pester Apple... I am frustrated incarnate believe me.. :[

Hotwire, if you get a chance, just curious what the 'accessory kit' turned out to be (not a USA line item for the 1.8 and 2.0 machines).

Not sure if it's in the photos or not.

I'm not sure--The accessories I got are basically the power cable, USB extension cable, DVI>VGA adaptor, phone cable, and CDs/Manuals.

Maybe because most of us have the maturity and education to know that getting pissed off at something we cannot change is essentially worthless?

That would be my guess.

But to sit and do nothing and let a company walk all over its customers and then for us to continue to support them is ridiculous. In this world we have the power to change things, but yet a lot of people are happy to sit idle-ly by and do nothing. I would think that people here should be signing the petition in droves and writing emails en masse. But alas they dont.

Hah, you have a DUAL-G4 450. I have a SINGLE G4 400. Think of the speed-up I'm about to witness!! I can hardly wait!!

Thanks for posting pictures and answering our questions, hotwire.

Anxiously awaiting...

I think you're a bit delusional. Apple is doing something. If Apple was not doing anything then Hotwire would not have his CPU.

Put things into perspective. Be grateful for you have now, appreciate what you have coming, and realize you must wait.

Moof.

I have a G4 400 as well, soon to be replaced by a 2.5 G5 with a 6800 Ultra DDL card.

When I ran the test I got a "31" for the single cpu test. Oh, and my machine is so obsolete that my ATI Rage card is not powerful enough to run my newly arrived 23 inch display.

Benchmarks be damned! How fast does it FEEL?

I don't know about anyone else, but I get a warm, happy feeling in my pants every time I think about my soon-to-ship G5... How does it feel in regular apps?

Have to disagree with you on this one.
Attacking one's maturity and education is not reasonable.
Also, saying that we cannot change this is not acceptable (at least to me).

I believe that we must all accept those things that we can not change, have the courage to change the things that we can, and have the wisdom to know the difference between the two.

I believe that most people here are not so much pissed off that they don't have their machine, but that the've been subjected to such differing expectations on delivery. That said, we can not change whatever forces are delaying the delivery of our machines, but collectively we can voice an opinion that may cause Apple (and possibly FedEx) to be more conservative in their estimates and possibly improve their communications in the future.
Again, this may or may not change anything...but silence will insure that nothing changes at all.

I don't really see that there is much that can be done. Apple is doing the best that it can. They make their money on good customer service. Once everyone gets their G5 then all will be forgotten.

Nice blurb from the Serenity Prayer. Are you an AA member? Oh wait, don't answer that because then it would no longer be anonymous.

Apple is well aware of peoples dissatisfaction with the process. I believe that is why they sent the email to some people notifying them of the extreme demand.

It feels faster than any other computer I've ever used.

Ohj, your wrong this will not be forgotten!!

I agree with a couple of other posts. Its not that I am angry because I do not have my machine... I can live with delays. But what I cannot live with is bad or misinformation. To tell customers that there order will ship on 8/20 then say its a mistake and you will ship on 8/2 and then to say "opps sorry we missed 8/2, it was mistake" and then to find out that people are receiving their orders or have tracking info that ordered after mine. When Apple themselves said that orders are being filled in the order they were received. THAT IS PURE BS. Otherwise I would have had mine already. The lies from Apple are huge. And with no answers or explanations from them... geez man, hold them accountable.

Rocketfella, what Hotwire described is more or less the accessory kit that comes with all PowerMacs. It's just all those little extras you may need - he forgot to mention the airport extreme antanae.

I'm not sure what you are all so unhappy about today...my DP2.5 and Airport Express just arrived!

(See photo)

Gee, why are you two young men wearing white coats? Have I done something wrong? ; )

I had no idea about the link between the Serenity Prayer and AA.
Your knowledge speaks volumes.
That said, I understand that it was intended as an insult, and I see that sly personal attacks is your MO. I suggest that this particular tactic lessens the value of your position in any debate.

As to the matter at hand, while I do not advocate bashing good companies (and feel that both Apple and FedEx are great companies) I don't see a problem with customers voicing their dissatisfaction in an attempt to seek improvements. The fact that the companies may be aware of customer dissatisfaction does not eliminate the need for healthy criticism.

iAm open to change

CDW is saying they'll get their first shipment on August 31st. I know they were originally scheduled to get 500 2.5s in, but I wonder if they'll get the full amount in.

Oh, and I am not wondering why I went with them, because I'm saving a few hundred dollars this way.

At least my 20" Cinema Display came today. I might just hug that until the 2.5 arrives...

meh, i have bigger things to be mad and flustered about then the accuracy of a company's estimated shipping date on bleeding edge technology. Several units did go out over the weekend anyways.
