xenious, that happened to jdhuskey as well, I don't think itmeans anything, probably time zone difference :)

YAY---

It just arrived :) will be ripping it open now and posting my pictures of the fedex truck, and um, a few of the G5.

Xenious, don't worry, the shipping companies' computers make mistakes. I've had tracking sites tell me that my package arrived near my house, and then left to another state, only to receive the package the next day. It's all part of the suspense, I think... shipping companies could make a fortune if they placed advertising on their tracking sites, so we just have to thank them for their ethics until that happens.

Get listed man

You can put your name on the list to be called by Apple when they arrive at the Apple stores.

Any arrive at the Apple Stores yet? As of yesterday, my local store had none. :(

jeffdr's G5, and I think a couple of others, is still sitting in the Indianapolis sort facility! What's up with that?

Don't worry, I've been taking pictures. I'm almost afraid to complete the hookup. What if it's DOA? Actually I'm here to shut this G3 puppy down so that I can put the G5 Big Dog in it's place!

My iTunes library is on an external Firewire drive. Should I be worried about the Firewire firmware problem that caused so many people to lose the contents of their Firewire drives? I think I'm going to check for new firmware first. All my audio and video projects are on there too.

[edit] Fantom Drives has posted anything so I think I'll be ok. Here goes...

Woot, I finally got mine. Unfortunitly the Fedex guy woke me up so I didn't have time to grab my camera, but I have it now. Hooking it up as we speak. Hopefully this will be the last post on my pc. Lets just hope my first mac wont disapoint.

Congrats! I hope to see pictures of yours too... come on, it's all I got!

Keep in mind that it can always get broke. DOA or DAUAW (dead after using a while)

but.. the chance that it does not work is very very small. for the rest.. I can promise you only one thing: Once a Mac, Always a Mac.. this is my third Mac, I' m only 24 and bought the first one when I was 18. that means that by the time I reach 40, I will have bought... 6.5 new Macs... well.. 6 and 1 update.. that scares me.. ( yes, the 40)

After playing around with all the new stuff, I got iPhoto all set up (bringing my old photos over, etc.) and have a photo of my setup here. The second monitor isn't hooked up yet, I need to dig up to power adapter.

Speaking of iPhoto, iPhoto 4 on the G5 is MUCH faster than iPhoto 2 on my iMac. I can actually scroll through my photo library without waiting! It's all real-time, i.e., no delays when I scroll around, zoom in/out, etc. I can stand using iPhoto now! :D

Apple people are all nuts

FEDEX drivers must think all Apple Users are nut's. Taking snaps of macs arriving. I bet PC people never get so excited over a Wintel box. Windoz users get excited looking at woman on the internet! mac users just need 2.5ghz mac to look at, (they always said pc's are cheaper). mac's r best, It's the only place where a website dedicated to the arrival of a new computer can get 2000 hits in 5 hrs.
I know that when mine arrives I will feel like a 8 yr old at Christmas.

For some reason this thread reminds me of "Signs". A bunch of appearances all over the US, but no one really can say if they're here for sure.

It's here!

Got mine this morning!
FedEx guy woke me, no time for pics, sorry.
I thought I'd feel more excited, but I can't help but think about all the people who SHOULD have theirs as well. I'm still unhappy with the whole Apple and then FedEx ordeal. I still want to fight for improvements in their customer service. I still think they're both good companies, but there's considerable room for improvement.

Anyway, I've got a long day ahead of me. Today is the only day I'll have for testing/loading/using the machine until Monday.

I'll post more later.

iAm one with a new G5 delivered

Hi all, this is my first post..waiting on my first mac! Just a quick thought, though: Since a handful of people on here have received their G5's, it's puzzling that Apple hasn't updated their web site with a clever "Now Shipping" stamp on top of a 2.5 box.

I' m curious... what the hell is that seeshel blue iBook doing on the floor over there in that picture???? can you type with your feet? or is it so that hotwire132002 Junior can have a look as well? :D

reminds me of a guy who had his car tuned all the way.. except from LCD displays in his rear seats and headseats, he also installed some on the floor between the pedals. Very smart to watch a movie between you legs while driving.. maybe THAT's what that fedex guy was doing...

Actually, I was out of desk space. There's no hotwire132002 junior--I'm only 15 here! :D

ok guys this isn't funny. I can't find the alt key. How can press ctr+alt+del without an alt key.
sorry I am new, I had to do it.

the option key is the alt key.

and on a mac, in case you have to force quit a program, press apple-option-esc

apple also equals to "command" you also may find it very handy to learn all the shortcuts used in the finder! they are very easy to learn (unlike windows)

for example

apple-q = Q uit program
apple-w = close W indow
apple-s = S ave
apple n = N ew folder
apple backspace = move selected icons to trash
apple shift backspace = emty trash

and so on and on.. they are all in the menus right behind the command

most of them also come back in the apps

also: a thing that you have to know wich confused many windows switchers:

closing an apps window will not close the app. ( sometimes it does) quitting the app from the menu or pressing apple-q does!

as long as there is a little black triangle under your icon in the dock, that app is active

oh another nice one: alt-tab or option-tab swithces between apps pressing shift swithces the other way

You are assuming that someone at Apple knows where the website server is to update it!?... hmmm...
