Just curious if anyone has heard of any arriving at any of the Apple stores. I've called the two stores near me and they are saying they don't expect them until the end of the month. I just finished saving the money to buy one last week, so I thought I might be able to pick one up at the store faster than ordering one from Apple.

Looks like the only real difference between my system and yours is the Airport Extreme card (you had more memory, but still used the same 512MB DIMMS). I seriously doubt the AE card would hold your order up. I hope that your G5 ships a lot sooner than what was posted.

Well, for those who can't get enough of looking at pictures of the same computer over and over, I have put up some on my site. I will put more (and better, I hope) as time goes on.

BTW, I typed 'hwinfo' in terminal but nada... do I need a full path or is it part of the dev tools or something?

Good pics, videogame_junky and Poeben. But I must say Poeben gets second prize for taking two pics of the FedEx truck. You know what would give us more laughs...a pix of the FedEx guy posing with the G5 box.
Odd, I still enjoy looking at other people's G5 pics even if they are all the same. But it was nice looking at what environment they end up.
I surmise from Poeben's pics that you're a sound designer or music composer, or both? If its true, maybe I can ask your help in the future when we need original music compositions/sound design for the short movies we make.
Anyone with AE and/or BT that can show some pix of their included antenna accessory. I'm still very curious on how it looks. No one has shown one.
Btw, aidamahn my unit is stuck in Indianapolis and has BT and AE.

I was seriously thinking of the same thing because remember to all those who received a revised email, they said they were changing the line on our orders but nothing has changed. Here is the line they changed:
2.5DPG5/1GB/250/SD/R9600XT/56K/BT-USA
Hopefully they didn't forget I got AE card. It would be easy to install the card anyway (versus no chance for a forgotten BT). But the horror if they say I should ship the unit back in order to get the AE card rather than ship just the card later on.

If I am recording guitars, hum can be a big problem, so I just turn off the CRT's and lights and use my iBook as a remote over VNC. Otherwise it doesn't really matter. Gladly, I just replaced my electric service last year and ran all new IGR circuits to my studio. Made a HUGE difference in noise floor. Can't wait to play around in audio land on the G5.
Btw, what's up with that FedEx tracking results. They never updated the site as mine still states an Estimated Delivery of Aug 5 10.30am. Hello! It's 11.30am and I already called FedEx Customer Service twice today and both say there is a delay. Why can't they simply update it to reflect the latest status - delayed due to freak of nature.
I wonder why Apple chose FedEx in the first place. I've seriously had better results with UPS. Even Airborne Express was on time to pick up my PBG4 when it needed AppleCare service. Just ranting.

I'm pretty sure that hwinfo is NOT a Mac OS X command. I seem to remember it existing on my old SGI, though... I might turn on my Octane and see if its has hwinfo.
Actually, I think its hwinv on SGI systems...
