When did you place your order?

I wonder if other resellers are slated to get them soon. I know that ClubMac orginally said they would get a limited number of them this week and then more next week as well.

I ordered 6/9 at around 11et... I wonder if I'll be in that first shipment.

[crosses fingers really hard]

I didn't order until July 22nd, so I don't expect to see mine for a while. You should definitely be seeing yours well before I see mine.

Good pics, videogame_junky and Poeben. But I must say Poeben gets second prize for taking two pics of the FedEx truck. You know what would give us more laughs...a pix of the FedEx guy posing with the G5 box.

Let's not forget about the FedEx ladies. Mine was delivered by a woman, and I may have had a pic of her carrying it, but I was too worried she was going to drop it :p

I surmise from Poeben's pics that you're a sound designer or music composer, or both? If its true, maybe I can ask your help in the future when we need original music compositions/sound design for the short movies we make.

Anyone with AE and/or BT that can show some pix of their included antenna accessory. I'm still very curious on how it looks. No one has shown one.

Yes, I am currently a live sound engineer/technician. I also compose and record, among a billion other things. Feel free to contact me, I am always looking for cool stuff to do, and as luck would have it want to get into film scoring :) Very nice website--I enjoyed your clips.

PS my camera is acting funny and it won't transfer the latest pics. Actually, I think I crashed my camera...didn't know that could happen.

I dug up the power supply for the second LCD in my setup--It works great (Except for the "bruise" on it--oh well). It rules to be computing with dual processors AND dual monitors!

Nice pics guys!

That's got me hyped about 8/20.

My enthusiasm had waned after waiting for so long and then getting the dreaded email from apple on monday...

Only 15 days to go! (i hope) WOOHOO!!

As it turns out, I'm doing another feature next summer, and I'll be needing a score. If you're interested, email me at eric@coresoftcomputers.com. You've got plenty of time to think it over--Stupid school year ;).

Ha ha. hotwire might think we're serious - dude, your pic rocks. Thanks to you the pressure is on.

Poeben, we are film students constantly creating short films in 16mm and 35mm and try to have them in festivals around the US. If I'm not photographing (DP) or assisting camera, I edit. I'm going to edit two short films by Sept and I'll pose the rough cut on my web site for your reference within that time. If you're interested, I'll keep your info on file and you can tell me if you would like to score the films. It's a great intro for major Hollywood companies looking for the next composer - like the Kronos Quartet or BT!

Well, for those who can't get enough of looking at pictures of the same computer over and over, I have put up some on my site. I will put more (and better, I hope) as time goes on.

G5 Pictures

BTW, I typed 'hwinfo' in terminal but nada... do I need a full path or is it part of the dev tools or something?

Those are awesome pictures, thank your for sharing. You have a very nice setup. Notice that you have a G4 just like mine.

hotwire, what kind of independent production are you into? Do you do digital video or film?

What do you mean by "bruised" LCD? Is that brand-new?

I do Digital. I shoot on MiniDV with a Canon ZR10 and ZR60. (I want to get some 3-chips, but after the G5, I can't afford them right now)

The "bruised" LCD is a couple years old, my dad used it in his office and said I could have it, since I borrowed it so often :D.

The "bruise" is a dark spot in the center. I think it got bumped around when it sat in the car for a couple days at one point.

If you live in the UK, no one can get ahold of any G5's or Powerbooks. Microanvika has no stock, nor does any other reseller - what is going on?

Peter Jones, part of John Lewis, has Powerbooks. Tho the John Lewis website has none in stock so I guess it might depend on which store you're near. They also have lots of iPod Minis but no Expresses or G5s

Yipee! Thanks for the great pics. Finally was able to see what it is all about. Looks cool. I'm supposing it screws on and not snap so it easily doesn't get lost.

No, it just pushes in. Its kind of like the little plug on the end of a AC power transformer. I don't think you will need to worry about it getting lost, unless you travel on the subway with your G5 often.

But I travel on the subway often. And with the G5 arriving (whenever that is) I will be bringing it around strapped to my back. Ouch!

So that's the reason why I don't see any of those things in the Apple stores. It could easily get lost in public. But you're right, at home nothing to worry about.

I would have loved to help out if you were anywhere near CA region. But great venture starting out early doing the stuff you like.

A 3-chip is def the way to go in the future. Save up for an HD camera. Don't invest in miniDV any longer as I'm guessing they should be nearing the prosumer product cycle in a few more years.

Any link to check out your feature - a trailer at least?

I've got a 20 second TV spot (that really stinks) online at

http://coresoftcomputers.com/idnb.htm

I've been looking at a miniDV HD camera--what do you think about those? I certainly can't afford a HDCAM--those are what, $50,000?

Yup, I hear you. Prices are ridiculous. HD camera would be the way to go. Also if you want it to look a little bit more like film in terms of motion then I suggest you check out Magic Bullet. It also comes with a suite of plug-ins to alter the colors, etc. They have big student discounts. Something to save up for in the future.

Last comment, I take you don't have a DP to help you decide how to photograph a scene. Something I would seriously take into consideration for your next project. Dude, I swear if I were there I would help you out. The fact you were able to create a movie at age 15 (and photograph the FedEx truck first...ha ha I had to bring that up), your going places.

The office couldn't go on without me today, so my day working from home and getting acquainted with my new Mac has been somewhat less than the honeymoon I expected, but the BIG DOG sure is nice...

http://homepage.mac.com/jdhuskey/PhotoAlbum11.html

Where's the plain old brushed metal photo album? I couldn't find it.

I've got at least three pages to read to catch up on this thread and I've only been gone a few hours. You guys sure are prolific posters today.
