OT domain name

I'm sorry this is another OT post by me, but this is just too fishy...

So yesterday I say that I'm thinking of getting onebitoff.com, like oneframeoff.com. None of the engines let me register it but no WHOIS info comes back. Then this morning WHOIS info does come back on it and it was registered YESTERDAY! Now what in the world happened here? Here is WHOIS info from godaddy.com:

So I'm curious, this could just be coincidence, but did someone here happen to have the same idea and register that domain? I'm going to write the above contact also but am just curious if it was anyone here. It's just too...coincidental.

Thanks.

They really need to give you some kind of GOOD explanation and reparations. Maybe the $90 off (that I've heard mentioned), free overnight shipping (though if it comes from China, it's 3-day, period), and an iPod mini. I feel for you man!

I want to call up and ask for free overnight shipping but I'm not sure how to say that and have them actually give it to me...

I could threaten to cancel, but they might call my bluff... ;)

I'm a patient person, and its been fun seeing guys get their 2.5's! I'll post pictures when I get mine. --E

Hey, I can do patient no problem, what I can't abide is no straight answers to what must surely be a fairly simple answer - how can you not know what will ship and by when, even if you have to take into account flight delays, production delays etc.. you can still name a bloody date... I still have 02/08 remember!

Well, no resellers have received them yet, not even Apple Stores (who always get them before any other retail outlet, fair or not) so we really don't know yet.

I just called MacConnection - where I ordered one on June 29 - their latest delivery date from Apple is August 27...

To be honest I think we are the two Apple has screwed the most! We both ordered early morning on June 9 and still haven't even received a shipping notice. Bah!

I don't recommend threatening to cancel. When I called a few days ago and asked for a supervisor, she actually SUGGESTED I cancel my 2.5 and get a 2.0!! What sort of ridiculous crappy ass customer service is that! I wonder if Jobs knows he has idiots in supervisor positions!

Maybe she was onto something!? ;)

Just Ordered

Ordered a 2.5D/1gig otherwise completely stock this morning from Apple Online (edu). Have a date of 9/20 at this point. If my local Apple Store gets 'em sooner, I'll cancel online. I was in my local Apple Store yesterday and they said "several weeks" until they get stock.

By the time I get mine, Hotwire will be taking a picture of his Fedex Guy delivering his Dual 3.0Gig

I only wish

maybe they are trying to get the edu orders out before the school year starts. I'm sure there are a few colleges that also ordered a slew of them to populate labs.

I wish that were the case! Do not think so though.

That's the same story I've been hearing from the Apple Stores I've called as well. So if they don't have any yet, that means no retailer/reseller does.

I still think we deserve overnight shipping or at least $50 off, something...

I'll see if I can get my dad to talk to em. He's a politician and is pretty good with people. ;)

I'll post back and tell you how it goes.

For those poor pissed off souls wanting more info, I haven't made a single phone call to anyone. All I'm doing for my shipping info is reading what is actually happening.

In the little reading I've done, I see:

The orders coming in have:

1. All been placed direct with apple, and ordered in the first few weeks of June. The only exception being EDU orders via university staff.

2.Of those..NONE are 9800xt, airport, superdrive swaps, or whatever else I'm missing

3. Swapping HD, upgrading ram, adding bluetooth don't create delays.

4. Today I learned EDU orders via university staff are shipping before earlier (june) orders that weren't EDU via university staff.

The orders that have yet to ship:

1. I've yet to see an order from outside the US get filled.

2. I've yet to see an order placed through a reseller get filled.

3. I've yet to hear of any apple store receiving a 2.5 before anyone's posted estimated shipping dates here.

4. Invalpsion and EdgarJ both ordered EDU with a combo drive the first week of announcement and neither has had a ship notice come in.

5. I've yet to see an order with 9800xt get a shipping notice.

Everyday that I read about shipping announcements and arrivals here, I learn more about what the shipping priority is.

If you have a delay, try to figure out what it is in your order that is DIFFERENT from the one's already coming in. Freak out all you want, but that's not giving you the answer to WHY your order is delayed.

tried that already, no go. "Sorry we cannot offer compensation."
You should give it a try anyway, maybe your dad can squeeze something out of them, good luck.

cheers.

that one's easy, 2.(9800XT), 4.(non Edu) and 1.(Germany)
Yet it does not really satisfy me.

At least my Doom3 order just shipped (*cough*PC version of course)

cheers.

I did

I sent an email to the rep that I gave my order to. she is off today so do not know if it will be in time. She has been good at helping me with things like this in the past. Hope it ships soon, but not holding my breath!

My problem is that I don't have ANYTHNG that hasn't already shipped to someone else!

My order placed at 6:15AM PST @ the EDU store is as follows...

2.5G5 / 2GB RAM / 250GB HD / 8x Super Drive / 9600XT / Bluetooth

I have no CLUE as to why mine hasn't shipped OTHER than something is super screwed on Apple's end.

I'm in this boat as well. I ordered at 6:36 AM PST on 06/09/2004, and my status is still "On or before 08/20/2004"...

I ordered a dual 2.5 GHz G5 with 1.0GB (2x512MB) RAM, 250GB HDD, 9800XT, and Bluetooth.

I don't doubt your observation is correct but isn't it weird that swapping harddrives, upgrading ram, or adding bluetooth doesn't cause delays but swapping superdrives for combo drives or adding an airport card does?

this thread is slowly dieing...

it's like a room full of boys and girls.. when they have picked their date.. the room becomes more quiet and everyone goes home, leaving only the ones not having a date. or when a footballgame has to be played with a bunch of kids.. and 2 leaders have to choose a team, the last ones stay on the bench.

face it people.. we are the last ones..

on order: Dual 2.5 Powermac, 4.5 GB RAM, 6800 nVidia card 256 MB, 160GB HD, 23" cinemadisplay [arrived allready] and some new apple bumperstickers...

Ge4-ce, when did you place your order and what is your expected ship date? I'm real curious because I was about 2 clicks away from ordering the nVidia 6800 card before I changed my mind!

Check back on this

I had a person last week quote me saying that no 9800 has shipped, saying he recieved notice of his 9800 equiped unit shipped.

STATS: earliest still waiting

The earliest orders that are still pending without a notice to ship in the next week:

June9 -BDRAGO - airport
June9 -DARYLF2 - 9800
June9 -DESERT DOG - airport
June9 -EDGARJ - swap SD for combo?
June9 -HOOPY - UK/reseller
June9 -INVALPSION - swap SD for combo
June9 -MAREDUDD - no info avail
June9 -RICEBUCKET - ADC order
June9 -GNOM - Germany/9800/reseller
June10 -THE GIMP - no confirmation (photos) of receiving
June11 -SIOREE - ADC order/9800
June12 -DRMACNABBIT - reseller/9800
June12 -RECURSIVE JON - 9800
June13 -LEPPO - no info avail

I have no idea how accurate that info is, I just copy & paste what looks relevant into a spreadsheet & I'm sure I'm missing a lot of details....

Anyone please feel free to copy/paste that into a post and add anything I missed.

Well the Old Man came through for me. (He's a politician :) ;) )

He was able to obtain the free overnite shipping and found that if your order was cancelled by Apple at any time (like mine was) it was because the warehouse where it is being built was changed. Mine is shipping from Fullerton, California.

Despite the free overnite shipping my date is still "on or before 8/20." So the addition of faster shipping will not slow down your ship date.

No more calls to Apple for me I think. :)

Correction: I received mine with the Airport Extreme card installed.

What is the problem solo-act? Why are you so determined to try to control everyone's emotions? Why begrudge them their forum to vent? If I were still in their shoes, all your comments would do is make me more angry. If you're such a patient person, why doesn't that patience extend beyond Apple to your fellow posters? Lay off of 'em, ok?
