9800XT's shouldn't be a problem as I've heard of G5 DP2.0's being received with 9800XT's. Heck, I've seen a picture of a 9800XT in a DP2.0.

I sent you an email. Btw, I'm wondering how the transfer works. I would like the new Mac to have it's own "identity", so I'm wondering what does transferring entail? It transfers the user name, applications, settings, etc. Does that mean you have an exact clone of the other computer. If so then now they have the same network identity...how does this work out in a network especially with the same computer name? Just wondering.
 
Shipping contradictions

I need to take off, but thanks to the guys pitching in more info related to my post, it looks like:

1 9800 order has arrived
at least 1 airport order has arrived

So....
what were the order dates of those?
Business or personal?
EDU without univ staff or EDU as university staff?
Multiple or single unit order?

There's no doubt the Apple order process is jacked up somewhere so this is a good way to determine where.

I'll have to let you guys handle stats for a while, I'll be back in a couple days.

If you can find a pattern, that would be helpful to people in the forum. But I just think there is no pattern and that their system is plain messed up.

No, he is a Democrat. He called to find out info. When he spoke with a supervisor she said that there was some problem with my order which was why it was delayed. She then offered free overnight to make up for the mistake.

I am running DP4.12 on my new G5. All I can say is, bye bye OS 9--finally. :) Used to have to reboot and run DP3 because DP4 would just not work. Couldn't even play back 2 tracks without skipping no matter how much tweaking I did. I installed DP4 and opened up one of my projects--32 tracks, some comps, but I have no 3-rd party plugins for OS X yet. Not a hitch at all. Everything is very responsive, no annoying (long)pause when arming tracks/inserting plugins. Very happy so far.

I think it is great. very nice preamps. My only complaint is with the insert jacks on the back..it's a bit difficult to just plug it in halfway (I do this for zero latency monitoring sometimes). I have found the 1/4" jacks of PreSonus gear in general to be a bit "loose".
 
G5 2.5 GHz Build Estimates?

Just to pose a question and see what people think....

What might Apple's intitial build estimates be to cover perceived orders, actual orders, demand, availability of parts, wait and see, etc? 10,000, 50,000, 100,000 units?

I'm just wondering how long my order, placed 7/15 from a major US reseller may take to be fullfilled. My reseller says the latest word they have from Apple is about or around mid-August (to ship). However, I am in the second batch of their intial orders so I am Back ordered.

My reseller is not giving me how many (hard numbers) that initial or second wave is. Apple is not going to give hard numbers. Nevertheless, if anyone has insight based on whatever, that would be interesting.

You'll have to change the Computer Name manually.
As for the rest of the network identity, depends on if you're using DHCP.
If so, then there's no prob.
And yes, it transfers user name, passwords, apps, settings, etc.

Well exactly 1 week after the thing shipped, my G5 arrived at 12:05 pm today. Thank you very much, fedex.

I have yet to open the box, i've spent a few moments staring in disbeleif. I'm so happy, but I feel sorry for you guys who are still waiting, particularly you prof frink. Have a heart, they do exist, and your anger will fade as soon as it arrives.

Best of luck to you all and I hope you all enjoy your computers, whether you have them already or you get them in late september.

Cto DP 2.5GHz (airport extreme and bluetooth) ordered June 9, 6:27 AM PST. Education order. No contact from Apple since the email changing my ship date from July 30 to August 20 (the one that says "Please rest assured that we fulfill all orders in the order they are received."

I certainly don't know what is going on for sure. If true it's blatantly unfair to all those that ordered in June. Could be a computer glitch or inside pull of some kind. Or it could just be a hoax. :eek:

I think its because we're ADC orders. My order from 6/9 is stock except for bluetooth, and of course, still not shipped.

Doesn't smell like a hoax, and if it was an inside job, I'd keep quiet so I could use the favour again! So a computer glitch is the most likely scenario.
