invalpsion : the post you mentioned where a guy said he had received its 2.5, isn't really true, I guess he must of changed it back to a 2x2.0 and he stated he got a 2x2.0 instead of the 2x2.5 he wanted from his company :)

is that the guy you are talking about who already has its g5 or are you talking about jimsowdens company, who received 2 powermac 2.5s (possibly mistake by apple of some kind)

Nice catch, Klaus. You're right, it wasn't a dual 2.5 that he received, he tricked me. :D

So as of now nobody has received their G5s besides the insiders like Jim.

I would say that is good news. If they are ready to credit your card it give cause for a smile. The overwhelming majority of companies including Apple don't dot hat until they are ready to make your custom order. That is only fair, if they are going to do a custom then they should know that they will be paid. Shipping should be soon to follow.

My VISA card was debited on the 12th of july, still no 2.5 - so I wouldn't hope to much...

This COULD be great news! I checked my account after reading the previous post and it was debited today! Actually it is a "pending" transaction so they could only be checking to make sure the money is there... either way, we might be seeing the 2.5's soon!

/me crosses fingers

Have you checked the status of your order online? After all we are getting very close to the end of the month, now just 14 days.

People people.. I really think that if you got a problem with leakage etc. you'll get it right away and in the normal warranty. I think they did think over the system well enough that it will not break by normal use. I mean come on.. How can it get broke when it just sits there? It can always break offcourse, but what are the odds??

It's just because someone says: "Liquid" that everyone goes spooky and sees leaking G5's and a room full of toxic fluids all over the place, Cats and dogs death by drinking it..

Think about it as a normal fridge.. how many fridges do you know that actually leak cooling fluid??????? I hope for you not many..

And again.. do you think apple would place this entire processor+ cooling etc. in ONE part if they were not sure that the odds something would go wrong are very very low??

Besides, liquid cooling is not a new invetion. It has been used for years in high-end servers.

Duff-Man says...you know, I agree with your post for the most part....but on the bit I have quoted I would have to say....people *do* move their computers. From room to room, apartment to apartment...house to house etc etc....by themselves or by moving companies....oh yeah!

It was the 1.8 and 2.0 G5 model that also had the radiator look as the G5. It was an Apple Store employee told me that they don't yet have the 2.5.

Since I was at the convention Exhibit floor which was noisy. I held my ear next to the G5 and I didn't really notice any noise. The two fans in front of the radiator were running at a slow speed. So according to the Apple Specialist, that's what will make it quieter.

That's odd, I thought that only the dual 2.5's have the liquid cooling systems. Are you sure you didn't mistake it for the extra large heat-sinks?

Still hasn't shipped....

I placed my order for the dual 2.5 on 6/12 and still no change on the Apple Store Online ship date. I am also waiting for Verizon to get their butts in gear and release the Motorola v710 (first Verizon Bluetooth phone).

The overall anticipation to get these things will be the death of me.

I ordered on June 9th, the afternoon that the 2.5s were announced. My card has not been charged and my Est. Ship Date is still 7/30/04. I think this rumor was just the brainchild of a very cruel individual.

I totally agree, Apple has thoroughly researched the liquid cooling. They would be selling something that wasn't tested. We will have AppleCare to back us up in case of any problems.

I did notice a notice inside the case of the liquid cooled 2.5, "If you notice any liquid leaking, shut off the machine immediately. Then contact Apple."

So if I have a new G5 and a new display, they can both be put on applecare for what, $250 or so?

What's the deal with putting a full system on a warranty, and it only has to be started within the first year, under the original warranty?

...damn we're actually talking about applecare we're so desperate for G5 news... sad but true...

NEWS ABOUT THE G5???!!!!!!!

Tell all or you will die!!!!!!!!!

:D ;) :p

(I really need that computer)

I went to my local Comp USA store in Delaware to order a Dual 2.5 GHZ G5 on June 26th, and the guy that ordered it said I would be charged after it was accepted by Apple. Well, about 4 days later a temporary charge of $3585.16 (total amount of new G5) appeared on my account, and 3 days after that a permanent charge of that same amount appeared. I am assuming this means that my machine is being built. I hope so anyway!

That doesn't sound good. That means they charged you two weeks ago and still no G5. :(

My credit card got charged yesterday evening!

My credit card got charged yesterday evening! (Saterday)

I placed my order early on june 9th for my 'future' 2.5 G5 from the Online Educational Apple Store in Canada.

But my Order Status is still the same: 'Open'.

I don't think Apple would do the same thibg as Comp USA and charge the credit card before shipment is close to delivery. Am I wrong ?

I really think we are getting closer to this machine! ;)

Are you kidding ;)
I'm checking the order-page three times a day :D

"On or before 02/08/2004"

Ordered day one...

...of the 2.5 debut.

Just got an e-mail from Macmall saying now Aug. 6th. Boy was this "rumor" horse sh*t

So much for the people from ClubMac saying "this Monday." I've never seen a rumor so blatantly wrong from MacRumors. I guess we will have to wait until 7/30... :(

WTF??!

Why not issue a retraction or say it was a rumor? It certaily isn't the truth, and it was even less true a week ago when it was a "story".

What's the deal Macrumors?

Is this true (I saw no winky emoticon)? I think most were making a joke when they talk about leaking 2.5s but if really says that maybe it's a legit concern.

Re "thoroughly researched" I recall lots of unhappy campers with the first dual processor Macs and even the second gen "blowhole" Macs. ...the list goes on. The question is if this LC system meets the criteria of a 'major new hardware model'. Looking at that pic of the radiator that's going to be in future Macs I'd say so.

As far as AppleCare goes. That's not an issue, is it? We'll know if these machines are flawed long before the one year warranty is up.

...wdlove. you ordered your 2.5 already, huh.
