I, for one, am astonished that people have the audacity to be annoyed with the inaccuracy of an article on a RUMORS SITE.

Do you come here to get the official announcement?

No, you don't, because those come from Apple.

You come here for RUMORS.

Rumor (noun): A general public report of certain things, without any certainty as to their truth.

Feh. That's all I have to say about that. I'm waiting on my dual 2.5, too. Let's at least all be realistic and hope for shipping by 7/30 as promised -- and let's be pleasantly astonished if they ship earlier, because history teaches us that generally that's not how it happens.

WTF??!

Why not issue a retraction or say it was a rumor? It certaily isn't the truth, and it was even less true a week ago when it was a "story".

What's the deal Macrumors?

The clue is in the question and the name of the site I think...

Is this true (I saw no winky emoticon)? I think most were making a joke when they talk about leaking 2.5s but if really says that maybe it's a legit concern.

Re "thoroughly researched" I recall lots of unhappy campers with the first dual processor Macs and even the second gen "blowhole" Macs. ...the list goes on. The question is if this LC system meets the criteria of a 'major new hardware model'. Looking at that pic of the radiator that's going to be in future Macs I'd say so.

As far as AppleCare goes. That's not an issue, is it? We'll know if these machines are flawed long before the one year warranty is up.

...wdlove. you ordered your 2.5 already, huh.

Actually I haven't yet ordered my 2.5 yet. Usually not quick to make a decision. I agree that we will know if there are any problems long before the one year.

Okay as for questioning MacRumors, I only said that they should print a retraction as it was posted as confirmed news, like the iPod article, or the displays shipping. It wasn't treated as a rumor, which it is, and an untrue rumor at that.

Anywho, the Apple account system is down for the time being, stating:

Apple's Online and phone Order Status services are temporarily unavailable due to a scheduled upgrade to our systems.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Has this ever meant anything? Anybody know?

I love this stuff

I so love it when people mistake RUMOR for FACT! every thread I follow hits this wall at one point or another.

So here is my rumor for the week it is 6pm PST and the order status page is down for a scheduled upgrade... so I say this means they are fixing the bug that keeps telling people that what they order and pay for will not arrive for weeks and weeks after they place the order. So my dual 2.5 and 23 inch monitor should now ship tomorrow with this "scheduled upgrade"!

Hhahahahahahaha! So we will switch from despirate levels of patients to pages and pages of bost to make all our 2.0 and 1.8 brotheren jealous!

Be patient - "if you order it... it will come" :p

Weeeeeee - one day closer to the day it will ship - whenever that actual date is....who knows but I promis you it was NOT yesterday!

Wait til you get the notice it ships and see how fun UPS groud service is! When the free two day upgrade gets accidentally overlooked!

I'll be honest. I just wanted to get this thread back to the front page.

2.5 what?...

on a side note, my 20" Alu. display arrived this morning, but it's lonely...

Yea well I would really like to see MacRumors print a rescind. They have done it in the past!!!

I know, this waiting has been killing me too. I've been waiting since November to by a Rev b... through the disappointments in January and March with the expected updates never coming.

Then finally buying the first day they were announced in June... and waiting once again. I just hope that the 7/30 ship dates are accurate. I don't think i can wait much longer!

Not good news

:(

Just spoke to my Reseller regarding ETA of dual 2.5 as they were due to recieve their first batch today. Sales person said they hadn't been released yet and would be shipping 'sometime this summer'. This sucks! I'm not even sure if we've reached summer yet as it's been pissing down all July in UK

Whookam

ship date pushed back!!!!

I was originally told by CDW that they were getting the first shipment of 2x2.5's in on 7/16. I waited the weekend to ask about it and emailed today. Here's the reply...
"It looks like they have pushed back the release date to 8/3"

AARRRGHHH!!!!!

Anyone else getting that?

Oh no

This is crap

Apple, please don't delay delivery,
I have been waiting since january,

I did order on the first day,
Please dont give us delay,
I just want my mac to play,
This two 2.5 will be here to stay,

If you have a heart at all,
Dont make me have to call,
Your apple store support line,
Or the macworld won't be fine,

I feel so sad with anticipation.

Tataaaaaa
whatever, man

Just call around people!!
Apples not giving a date. Still saying July.. so I guess that's some hope.
However everyone else is saying the top of next month. I will be blown away to see any ship before mid Aug with Apples track record.

"My Apple rep emailed me stating this:
ETA – The latest ETA now is very late July"

Latest word from my Clubmac rep... 7/30 may still happen (fingers crossed)

So should I buy Applecare for my 2.5 and 20"? What's the deal with being a package together?

I know i could call and ask, but I need to keep my mind off of a lack of computer. So $250 to cover both the PM and a display for 3 years? Full coverage? And it can be bought within a year of buying the system??

Thanks for any info.

Jep, buying applecare on a system together with an apple display covers both.

Ok, it's 250$, but if you're spending 4500$ +, it's not something you can't overcome, I did it as well, it rests my mind, that I have 3 years of careless computing...

I bet my applecare contract is already at my reseller. Too bad the computer and the display haven't arrived yet

I believe that if it's purchased afterwards then the monitor is not covered, only the computer. I think that it has to be purchased at the same time as the computer AND the monitor in order to cover the monitor.

Hey DW or anyone else. Why did you order from Clubmac as opposed to Apple? I'm wondering what the quickest way is to get the 2.5 when it starts shipping. Is there any reason why the big retailers would be get it out sooner (or later) than the on-line Apple Store? I could save money if I bought it out of state from somehwhere like B&H say but I'm wondering where in the queue the retailers are. -thanks

I'm not sure what the "quickest" method would be. I have a feeling that everyone who ordered early will get them around the same time no matter where they ordered from - give or take a few days. I would assume that the best chance you have to get one if you ordered right now is to deal directly with Apple, as it might be difficult to get a unit from the reseller's first shipment (and since we have no idea when the first shipment is even coming - who knows when the 2nd will be here). Apple is currently listing a shipment time of 4-6 weeks for orders placed today.

The reason I personally ordered from Clubmac was because I don't need it right away, and by ordering from Clubmac I got a free gig of ram as well as no sales tax and an additional $100 off the price. Saving hundreds of dollars was worth the possibilty of having to wait a few extra days (if it turns out to be a few exra weeks then I'll be pretty upset though!)

Good luck - no matter what you choose your gonna get an awsome machine!

Okay, could I get a count or estimate of how many people's credit cards were billed for their order? And I'm assuming those that were billed were all stock machines with a delivery date of 7/30...

just wondering...

Now, don't be too careless with that shiny new mac. ;)

Care-free computing, on the other hand...that's something I could go for. :)

partyfart, when did you order? It seems that the ones who ordered early still have a date of 30/7

did you order later?

I ordered mine on 6/21, and my estimated shipping date is, like most, 7/30 (I ordered a dual 2.5 with a Radeon 9800 XT, otherwise stock).

My credit card has not as yet been billed.

Any other thirtysomethings here will relate to the lyrics I now recite:

"All we need is just a little patience..." :p

Hey, there are still some twentysomethings who can relate to that too :p
(Although 30 isn't too far away!)
