Dual 2.5GHz PowerMacs Shipping

I've been reading this thread for too long, and decided to register so I can get my name in solo-act's list. To those who have used the new setup assistant, what kind of options do you have to caopying applications over. For example, is there the option to only copy certain apps, like the iLife apps, or do you have to copy the entire applications folder?
 
At the risk of jinxing myself, just got word from Apple that my order, placed 6/10 and then bumped from 7/30 to 8/20 to 9/21. is in the final stages and will ship with 12 to 24 hours. Supposedly, to expedite its build, it was switched to plant in China, thus the 9/21 or before date. So for anyone who was moved from 8/20 to 9/21, without an email, this is GREAT news. They really are expediting the builds.
Having said all that, and having counted my chickens before they hatch, I'll let you know if this REALLY happens. This time I feel confident it will.

Why would you order through Edu when you have an ADC membership? What level of ADC member are you?

I called Apple when my order date got moved back to 9/21. From the phone call, I'm pretty sure my order is not yet in the final stages. Rather, it just gives Apple more time to delay my order. So the 9/21 date change is not a sure sign that the order is about to ship (although in your case, your computer does seem to be in final stages since thats what they told you). My guess is that a credit card authorization is a better indication that the computer will soon ship. My credit card hasn't been touched yet.

Here it is Sorted by est ship date & order date. Just a few people coming very late to the "party".

Feel free to post your info on the forum and/or send me personal messages for additions and changes and I'll update it once a day. I think we're mostly "past the hump" on getting all our data into one place.

Brykken's list is great too, and make sure you pay a visit there and add your info. I like keeping the spreadsheet I have because the data is so close together, I can see more info @ once & faster with the color coding. I like sorting different ways too. I think links to both are now in my sig. below. Wish we could have them as stickies --E

Just the basic. Although I can quote my institution & thus get Edu discount, I didn't (and don't) have my student ID yet. When I've got that, I'll upgrade to student member.

I'll then save my 1 off discount for a nitrogen cooled 4 x 4 core G8 and 72 cubic inch holo-tank!

Thanks so much for the list. It is really weird how the shipping is not making too much sense according to order dates.

I am sure I speak for all of us in thanking you for keeping this diary of activity. Maybe you could send it to Mr. Jobs and show him how his loyal fans are reacting.

Especially you ADC guys! You should have been first on the list...not delayed again until 9/13. :confused:

I am sure that I will soon get a push back notice. My credit card hasn't be touched. We'll see, but I am not optimistic now.
 
Apparently, the weather in Shenzhen, China is causing some serious traffic problems and this is delaying my order (and probably all others currently in Shenzhen).

I just got off the phone with FedEx (they have very nice customer service representatives, by the way) and was told that there was still a decent chance that my order will arrive on Friday. They are scheduling an extra flight to help cope with the delay. Otherwise, I won't get the shipment until Monday 8/16...

"Add entry currently down"

..like for the last several days.

Man, that's helpful - what gives?

If your shipping date changes, please send me a message. Remember, one update each afternoon USA mountain time from today until I get my G5. Unless of course things get REALLY exciting ie...70 orders shipping in 7 days. After I get mine, maybe someone else with a website to post the spreadsheet on can take over for me.

Thanks Kneecap and the others that have thanked me and encouraged me. Its fun seeing people get theirs and watching what's happening with orders.

WHAT NUMBER DO YOU CALL to get that up to date info?? The regular apple people never know anything. I've called the developer store and they had the same deal. Billing department only knows about holds...?

My guess is that if your computer is being built, then they'll know. Otherwise, they can only give you the estimated ship date that you see online. So if they can't give you more info, then it probably means your computer isn't shipping yet.

I think you all might find this interesting, I ordered a G5 2.5 on th06/10 only to have the shipping date revised 3 times it now stands to be delivered (confirmation email everthing on course from apple) on or ???? 08/20. So I decided to order the 23" display to go with it, called apple store to place the order on the 08/09 and was told it would take 6-9 days for shipping. thought that would just right for it to arrive roughly the same time as the G5. Thought wrong just received a email confirming the display is on its way, 36 hours after placing the order :eek: I guess I should be greatful and I am not complaining that I am receiving the display this year!! One things for sure you can not plan your life around an apple order.
 
Heh! My 20" had a 4-6 week estimated shipping date, but I got it in 6 days!

I'm not sure a day and 1/2 is "several days," but I'm having a strange SQL issue that I am trying to resolve. The page will be up as soon as possible, but remember I do have a life. ;)
 
My CTO *finally* shipped

Upgraded to 1GB RAM/250GB HDD/Bluetooth, ordered 2 or 3PM Eastern on June 9 through my employer, a reseller (yay 10% discount!). Shipped on 8/10 from China, no estimated delivery date from FedEx.

Three words... about freakin' time!

I thought I'd add my voice to the mayhem.

I ordered my Mac from CDW/Mac Wherehouse on July 9th. It's a Dual 2.5, 512mb, 9800 XT order. The rep said they had no word on when they'd be shipping. :confused:

I ordered from CDW because my boyfriend gets a discount with them. That, combined with no sales tax, meant a good deal. I'm willing to wait.. but I wish I knew when I should expect something.

Anyone hear of CDW/Mac Wherehouse orders shipping?
