Thank you, Apple, for free overnite shipping.

I hope I'll get that. I just had a frustrating experience with the Apple store. I called to check on my order, and all I could find out was the same 8/20 date, and that it was assigned to a factory in California. Since my order has ground shipping and I'm on the east coast, I tried to get the shipping upgraded to two-day. I was hoping to get a free upgrade, but was prepared to pay extra if necessary. The frustrating part is that Apple told me they cannot change my order from ground shipping. They said because my 23" display already shipped via ground, the ordering system cannot change the shipping option for the G5 on the same order. Just incredible that a company like Apple could have an ordering system with restrictions like that. I even called twice and talked to two different people, but got the same answer each time.

Things Look Good in Fishkill

Hey, I just got back from my web design class at a local college. One of the other students works at Fishkill as a tech, he told me they just sent off a HUGE shipment of chips.

Just wanted to give everyone a little more hope that they'll get their 2.5's before the end of the year

Good to see that we have someone who knows an INSIDER! :)

Thanks for the news.

I just talked to an Apple Rep concering my order, she said that the 8/20 date for my 2.5MP w/6800Ultra should not change, and that it might actually ship out before then.

I'm hoping!

I hope you get it before that too..
I would have mine if I did not get so mad a cancle it. ....Oh well...
Maybe I can wait a month or two and just "pre-order" the next release.
:)

Have any owners noticed a wavy or ripple effect when scrolling? My 1.8GHz never done it with the NVIDIA graphics card. It has to be an ATI graphics card/driver issue. OS 10.3.5 update didn't help it any. It's not real bad and doesn't do it when using the arrow keys to scroll, but it is a little annoying. Other owners have commented about it on Apple's Discussion Boards.

I found the answer to the problem!

Apple store now lists 3-5 weeks

Well, I don't know if this is a good indication at all, but the apple store now lists a wait of 3-5 weeks for a dual 2.5, instead of 4-6 weeks yesterday.

Are they seeing some yield improvements, or just on the verge of shipping A LOT of backorders to the entire world? I guess we'll soon now for the people who have an on or before 8/20 date

UPDATE : The belgian store now states a 3-4 weeks build time, as well as the uk store!

Something must be improving for them to adjust their estimated period!

Thanks Klaus. I was beginning to wonder if we were about to break a record for the longest period without someone posting to this thread. It was nearly 5 hours! I am a bit bored.

Yeah, it was silent :) I guess our american co-waiters (not like a waiter in a restaurant) are still all a sleep! having nightmares about their G5 ending up on the porch by fedex while a huge truck has a flat tire and crashes into his lawn, ripping their porch into pieces..

hmm, I should better go back to working :D

Well, I just landed a job with a load of graphics and effects for a corporate video, would've liked to have done it on a brand my new G5, guess I'm just gonna have to plod away on my powerbook.

Oh well, atleast it'll pass the time! I got Entourage set to trigger every alert possible when I get my shipment email! :D

EDIT: he reckoned there were "hundreds" at the depot this morning

That's super! But also states that there are probably already a LOT of customers who got theirs, as well as some companies too, cause you know, not everyone posts on this forum ;) And since there were 100s at this depot, there are probably going to be a lot more at other depots as well!

Well, moving the waiting period from 4-6 weeks to 3-4 weeks was probably because they anticipated a shorter build and ship time, let's hope it's true!

That can't be right. I haven't got mine yet and I ordered at least 14 seconds before you. Oh why don't they ship them in the right order?
;)

It was 2 months for me too! I ordered 1 250 GB SATA and the BT keyboard/mouse at 1345 GMT (0745 am PST) on 09/06/04. My tracking details went straight from "shipment picked up" 2 days ago, to "out for delivery" this morning!

Anyway, I'm going offline for a while! :p

My reseller gave me the number of the order and Apple store UK gave me the reseller channel number, so I rang it! - after I clarified that I wasn't actually calling from the reseller directly, and that I was an anxious customer who was driving my reseller nuts with questions, he did inpart some info for me - it would appear that my machine is now 'in production', and will be with me within a week or so 'all being well' with production and shipping plans. So I guess I should be happy now!? :D

Trouble is, that means my Mac could well be a 'friday' machine, and that could be a problem! - especially in Ireland - I can see it now - all the people will be thinking about will be their night out in Cork or Dublin on the Guinness, and they won't be concentrating on my Mac!! 8]

have mercy Mac makers, its been a ridiculous, and uninformed wait, dont send me a dud! ;)

Fair enough then - you go and enjoy it mate, you have waited long enough! :D

That also ties in with timing on mine (in terms of order dates) being about a week behind yours as I ordered on the 14th of June!

c'mon!!!!!!

Good for USA and Europe customers

What about Canada ? No news for any of us Mac Rumors Canadian Freaks as I can tell. My ship date is still august 20th. Anyone ?

As usual hervon, Apple considers us Canadians as third-class citizens. Looks like we don't get ours until after the US and European crowd, as usual. I guess we're just too patient and polite.

They're here!

Typical. Take the day off work because of the flu.

Got a call saying they're in the building and have been stashed away: three large black boxes with G5 on them in the riser cupboard.

Apologies if I can't post my first impressions: am coughing & spluttering away & prob. won't be back till Tues...

Hi Kosh66
You can include Scotland with Canada in the ranks of the unloved :(
Nae shipping confirmation, nae G5 2.5DP, nae nuthin
